I didn’t really know what to do all day since Paul left me on my own. I figured since this was going to be an ongoing thing, I might as well look for a job. It may be tricky since I’m still a little unfamiliar with the area, despite Richard taking me out yesterday…..Richard. He could help me out. I mean we just met and well, yeah...had a pretty good time last night. But he was really a sweetheart and I knew he wasn’t a jerk who was doing it for just sex. Paul left the number to the studio he was going to be at. I was about to pick up the phone when there was a knock on the door.

I set my breakfast aside and went to the front door where Martha stood barking. I shushed her and opened the door to get flutters in my stomach. Martha cried and jumped on Richard, licking his face like crazy. I giggled watching the scene and blushed when he handed me a single flower.

“Hi.” He smiled.

“Hello. It’s nice to see you again.” I smelled the pink carnation and walked to the kitchen where I set it on the table. He followed and sat down across from me.

“I um….I kept thinking of ye last night after I left here and….I wanted to see you again.” He blushed. I smiled to myself and popped a blueberry in my mouth.

“Really?”

He nodded and reached over, eating a strawberry. I leaned over and pecked his lips. I was met with a small kiss that warmed my entire body. When we broke apart, we sat smiling at one another until I spoke again.

“I was just thinking of you to be honest. Paul and I had a small argument last night but…we made up. But since he’s gone most of the time, leaving me alone…I need your help with something.”

“Sure. With what?”

I sighed. “I want you to help me get a job.”

It was four in the afternoon by the time me and Richard found a small club in London. It was a chilly, damp day out when we arrived.

When we walked inside, it felt like home. The club back in L.A. the earthy smell, the dim lights, the small crowds, the dirtiness of it all was beautiful. Richard watched me look around in awe. I still never told him why I needed to find a music club. I assume he could only think I wanted to be a bar maid or some kind of stripper. I couldn't bear the thought of that last sentence.

We asked for the owner and were soon pointed to a booth at the other end of the club. He was an older man, about in his forties. A shot glass in his hand, overlooking the rest of the small amount of people just sitting around and drinking. He looked up at us in shock when he noticed Richard next to me.

“How may I help you??” He asked eagerly.

“I was hoping you could help us.” Richard said, sitting across from the man. He motioned for me to sit next to him and I obeyed.

“With what?” the man asked.

“A job. Sadie.” I smiled, extending my hand out to him. The owner looked at me and took it.

“Michael. Since were going on a first name basis.” He smiled. “What can I help you with? We do have a few openings for a bar maid, a waitress….”

“A singer?” I asked.

Richard and Michael looked at me. I froze and looked around. “Did I say something wrong?”

“N…no. Can you sing?” Richard asked.

“I can sing and play guitar. It’s what I did back home in L.A.”

“Well, if you’re interested, I’d love to hear an audition and see where we go from there. The only opening I do have for now is at ten in the eveni….”

“Yes! I can definitely do that!” I smiled.

“Great. Tomorrow at noon will be a great time for the audition. I can already tell, you’re going to be a breath of fresh air.”

“Thank you sir. I’ll be back tomorrow.” I smiled, shaking his hand again. We got out of the booth and said our goodbyes after Richard gave Michael an autograph for his daughter.

“I didn’t know ye were a musician.” Richard said as we walked out of the building and into the black vehicle that waited for us.

“Well, now you do.” I looked at him. “Don’t tell Paul. Please?”

He looked at me strangely. “Why wouldn't ye want him to know?”

“I just….I don’t want him getting too deep into my life. He’s a nice guy but, the less he knows about me the better. Which is also why he hasn’t told anyone else about me and the pregnancy. The day he tells the world about his little ‘love child’, I’ll let him into my personal life.”

“What about me? Ye let me in. Does this mean that…you like me?” He smiled. I giggled and shrugged.

“I trust you. If Paul can trust you then I know you must be legit. Besides, you’re a sweetheart and a really amazing friend.”

He brushed his fingers against mine as we arrived at Paul’s. “Just a friend?”

“Isn’t that all we can be?” I asked.

He shook his head and leaned in, pressing his lips on mine. I kissed back softly and pulled away after a few seconds.

“Paul said he won’t be back until five. We have about an half hour. You want to come in?” I played with the buttons on his shirt. He nodded and pulled me by the hand out of the vehicle. I laughed as he pulled me along the yard and to the front door where he pulled me into a long kiss. I unlocked the door as he kissed the back of my neck, begging for me the hurry up. I opened the door as we burst in, laughing and kissing like teenagers.

“Well well well. What do we ‘ave here?”

We froze and turned to see a smiling John Lennon with his arms crossed, leaning against the sofa.
