I am now 14 and old enough to compete in archery competitions. However, I never will. it's been six years since my wing broke. Like the doctor predicted, it never healed properly and it can't support my weight. I have tried and tried again to fly but I always end up getting hurt. I never went back to flight school. Instead, my dad quit the position of Rito warrior to train me to fight with a sword and bow from the ground. He doesn't fly that much anymore and I worry it's my fault since he says it's because he has to learn to fight differently in order to train me.
My father and I don't talk to the other Rito in Rito village anymore. In fact, we actually had another hut built just outside of Rito village on top of a large tree. It's not because we were kicked out or anything. I'm not even 100% sure why we had to move in the first place. My father once told me it's because of the other Rito but everyone in Rito village was always concerned about me and my father. Well almost everyone anyway but I'll get to that soon.
Our new hut is not too far from the flight range which Revali had built just a few years ago after he won that archery competition. Speaking of Revali, he has only lost 1 competition ever since he started competing at the young age of 14. There are rumors that he will soon replace Charles as the new commander of Rito village. Charles is still doing pretty good of course but he isn't the best in the village anymore.
I wish I could say that even though I don't really talk to the other Rito, I still have a few friends. Sadly, that isn't the case. About a year after I stopped going to flight school, Robbie started to spread awful rumors about me. All the younger Rito started to tease me relentlessly or avoid me as if I had something that was contagious. Sasha and I still talked for a few years after but she started to become more competitive and independent. Soon, she acted as if she didn't need anybody and trained rigorously in the mountains every weekend when she wasn't in flight school. She has been old enough to compete for 3 years now. She usually gets 4th place although she did manage to get second one time.
The return of calamity canon still looms closer with each passing day. The village has been preparing and training the younger Rito a lot more. We have been seeing quite a bit of attacks from mobiles and bokoblins but it isn't usually that bad. There have been rumors that four huge ancient beasts have been found recently. I believe they called them divine beasts and their names were Vah Medoh, Vah Rudania, Vah Naboris, and Vah Ruta. I also recall them saying that they were definitely going to be using them in the fight against the calamity and they were going to find a pilot from right here in rito village in the coming months. However, I'm not really sure if I believe those rumors or not.
Anyway, I have more important things to look forward to. Tomorrow is the day me and my dad leave for our 3-week long camping and training trip to the most dangerous part of Hebra mountain. We're supposed to get a really early start so I better start getting ready for bed soon.
~12 hours later~
I yawn as the rising sun starts to make the snow under my talons sparkle. The sky is a beautiful shade of pink. I enjoy the scenery but I wonder why dad is making us leave for our camping and training trip before the sun even rose. We had been on trips like this to a few other places in Hebra mountain and we had even gone on a tour in Hyrule castle once but we had never been gone more than 2 weeks. Me and my dad walked in silence for a long way, Only stopping once when the sun was half-way through the sky to eat. My feet soon started to get sore but I never complained. We eventually reached a cliff, which took forever to climb since my father and I kept slipping. We finally reach the top as the sun starts to set. I look up at the sky. It looks as if the sky was set on fire by Hylia herself. "
