for Leanniette :)

summer 1997.

aaaah summer. warm weather, cool festivals, the beaaaaach, you loved it all. you and your best friend planned to do a festival tours to see all of your favourite bands. you were most excited to see silverchair again, you saw them everytime they came to town.
you always felt that dan and you had a connection, but then again, every fan felt that.
bizarre festival was just a few days away but you knew that the boys were already in town, in an hotel not too far from your house.

you and your friends had planned to get a room at that specific hotel so you could meet the boys without looking like absolute weirdos
you were so excited, you kept hoping to run into dan.

your mom drove you all to the hotel room. your friend had the biggest crush on ben and you just knew she had something planned to talk to him. you thought you'd stay with here for a chance to get with dan.

as you guys were getting your rooms, you all saw chris and ben getting out of the hotel. your friend looked at him and simply smiled and got a wink from him in return.

later that day, both of your friends got invited by chris and ben to go out. sadly, dan wasn't anywhere to be seen. You put on your bikini and left for the pool, somehow no one was there and you figured out you'd spend some time alone.
as you got there, you saw a long haired blonde boy, sitting by himself and you immediately knew that it was dan. you made sure to sit not too far but not too close from him. you even had a book you knew he loved. you began reading it and slowly got lost in it, so much that you hadn't noticed how close dan had gotten to you.

"i love that book." you heard the australian man say, quickly blushing as you heard him. "so do i." you said and smiled at him, showing the book. "i think i've read it so many times, where are you at?" he asked you, bringing his chair even closer. "uhm not too far, Noah just met allie." you shyly replied to his question, closing the book. "it's the best love story." daniel told you, you looked at the white robe he was wearing, noticing he was shirtless and only wearing his swimsuit. "it really is, hey you feel like getting in the pool?" you asked him, tossing the book aside.

"you know what? yeah i do." he said as his blue eyes met with yours. you quickly nodded and got up to take off your shirt, revealing your body. he looked at you as if you were a first course meal. you met with his eyes before he could look away, blushing. you quickly jumped in the pool as he removed his robe. "c'mon mister chicken." you jokingly said to him before he jumped into the pool himself. you both threw water at each other for a while before getting out of the pool. "wanna go back to my room? my band mates aren't getting here until later tonight." he asked and you quickly nodded, almost pinching yourself to convince yourself that it wasn't a dream.

once you both got to his hotel room, you put your shirt back on and sat on the hotel's bed. his guitar laid on it along with a few notes. "whats that?" you asked, peaking a bit. "oh it's. uhm nothing." daniel said and quickly took them away from the bed. "i bet it's good." you said assuming it was lyrics. "hey what's your name by the way?" dan asked you, realizing he never really asked you. "oh it's Leanne, i forgot to tell you." you replied and giggled a little, unable to look away from his ocean blue eyes. "you know what Leanne? what's your favourite song? i want to play something for you." he asked as he took his guitar, sitting down on the bed. "mhmm id say 1979 by the smashing pumpkins." you said as you sat more comfortably on the bed, closer to him. "i can play you that.." dan said, fixing his guitar. "okay don't judge my voice now, this isn't a show." he said and laughed, his laugh being the cutest thing in this world. "don't worry, i know you're better than me." you quickly said as he started playing.

"Shakedown 1979
Cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
You and I should meet" he started to sing, looking into your eyes as he sang. you completely got lost in his eyes, like nothing ever mattered before. as he finished the song, you both were dying to kiss each other. And you did. you spent the rest of the night together, kissing and talking about stuff. Daniel was surprisingly opened with you, he didn't feel like hiding himself from you.

the next morning you woke up by his side with the biggest migraine you ever had, noticing that the drink's cabinet was empty. Daniel woke up around the same time as you, smiling as he saw you. "hey are you okay?" he asked as he noticed how worried you look. "yeah i just don't remember falling asleep, my friends must be seriously worried about me." you said and laughed before laying back down next to him. "hey, let's go out and find your friends. the band and i have rehearsal anyways."

all of you spent the day together, you were worried because you knew the boys played that night and that by tomorrow, they'd be gone to another city. Daniel was so sweet to you, even ben couldn't get away from your friend. Daniel and ben gave you vip and backstages pass for the festival, they really wanted you to be there.

the night came and it was time for goodbye, sadly. Dan said that he had something for you and you were so nervous about it. you met him at his hotel room where he was waiting for you with a present. "i got you this but don't open it until we're gone tomorrow." he said and gave you the box with a card. you were so impatient to open it but waited until they left to open it.

you opened it once you got home, finding the notes you saw on his bed the day before. you were right, they were song lyrics but dan had wrote that he would never use them, so he gave them to you. he said "it's something you can hold on to, so you never forget about me. i know i won't ever forget about you."

by the time you finished the letter, you were crying your eyes out. you turned the paper as you saw something else was written. dan had wrote the lyrics to the song he played for you. "No apologies ever need be made. i know you better than you fake it to see."

"ill never forget you danny boy." you whispered to yourself, holding on to the notes and letter for the rest of your days.
