For the next month or so, I do the same as that first night in the Capital. Sneaking into the palace under the cover of darkness to watch Princess Azizi's daily goings-on and occasionally following her around in the early mornings. So far I had learned that she had two best friends, two young women named Nubia and Tauret. She'd barely since they'd recently been shipped off to the other side of the continent to live with their new husbands. Princess Azizi was also a very kind-hearted individual, engaged to both her first cousin and her brother, Prince Osiris and a man named Jabari. Poor soul, only having two options for marriage and both being blood relatives.

With every day, Geb seemed to become grumpier and grumpier. I don't think he really likes the ancient, holy tomb we've been staying in. Especially since it's sacred to the god who guides dead souls into the Duat. But after giving him a little bit of a treat he normally settles down for a while. In preparation for my plan, I've added another post next to Geb's, tying them both down tighter than before, and also stocked up on bread, barley and water. But I've been waiting for too long now, it's finally time. I start packing up my things in my rucksack and place them in a tiny nook I'd found in the wall earlier. Then I mount Geb, nudge his belly gently and get him going up a tunnel that we can both fit through.

On Geb, it doesn't take as long to reach the palace as it would if I was on my own. I carry a lantern on a stick over my shoulder, it's fiery glow lighting our way in the shadows. We weave our way through the town, leaving the slums and tunnels behind us. I watch as the townsfolk continue their daily businesses, their lanterns bobbing over their heads as they mill around the crowded streets. Soon enough, we arrive at the palace. With no guards in sight, I manage to push Geb behind a couple stalls in an alleyway to hide him.

"Stay, I don't need you wandering around while I'm trying to kidnap someone." I whisper with a commanding tone in my voice, wagging a finger sternly at Geb. I then turn away from him and run into the palace, my sandals clacking a little louder than I want them to against the beautiful mosaic patio.
