"Babygirlll I miss you so much, just come home."
"Leave me alone Pete. I don't want to be with you anymore. I'm serious."
"Babygirl you know that's not gonna happen."
"Babygirl?"
"Morgan? Hello? You know I don't like it when you ignore me."
"You 'd better answer me before I start to get real mad Babygirl."
"You know better."
"You better answer me soon before I find out where you and your snot nosed little boyfriend ran off to, you know damn well how easy it would be to find you."
James adrenaline shot through the roof as he read through the messages, as most of them were from Pete. That last message Morgan had sent was the day she'd been shot and Pete had been sending texts ever since then. James didn't understand why the guy didn't just give it a rest. He was so filled with anger at the thought of someone threatening Morgan that he completely forgot about the search for her parents and decided to take matters into his own hands.
James furiously typed out a strong message that he felt had gotten straight and to the point.
"You better leave her alone mate, I mean it. Stay away from us and don't ever message her again."
James went to put the phone down, expecting that to be the end of things. What he hadn't anticipated was the fact that Pete would come back with an immediate response.
"Game on."
And just like that, James had unintentionally made things worse. First Bonnie, and now some crazy abusive ex-boyfriend was gonna join the manhunt and James felt like he had a big 'ol wanted sign on his back- big red letters and everything. Just as he felt his heart rate begin to increase and true panic begin to form he heard a voice he'd been longing to hear for what felt like years.
"James?"
He snapped his head up from the phone and immediately stood up out of his chair to give the girl his full and utmost attention.
"Hey! Hey, I'm here."
He smiled down at her and went to give her a big heart warming hug filled with love of the unconditional kind.
"How long was I out for?"
Her voice was scratchy from lack of use and her eyes were cloudy, as if she wasn't fully here. James just wanted things to feel normal again.
"What felt like forever." He told her as he lovingly stroked her hair, emitting a sweet giggle from the girl he'd grown to love. #traumabonding
"No james for real, how long was I out?"
She looked up at him with such innocence and confusion, James was sure the confusion was a result of the pain medication they'd been pumping into her via IV drip.
James swallowed and looked down for a moment, his sadness overtaking him at the thought of being away from the one person he still had left in this world.
"Three weeks."
Morgan looked incredibly alarmed by this statement, and James wasn't fully sure why. Sure no one wants to hear that they've been out for three weeks, but the panic in her eyes- it just didn't make sense.
"Three weeks!?"
James could see the fear in her eyes begin to turn into full-blown panic, this greatly alarmed him and brought about a deep unrest to his soul. Before he even had a chance to ask her about her panic she spoke again.
"James, we have to get out of here. Now."
James was absolutely bewildered- she'd just woken up! There was no way that the hospital was gonna let the two of them leave.
"Morgan, we can't just leave the second you come out of a coma okay? What's this about?"
That's obviously not what she wanted to hear, as it was at that moment Morgan began to cry. James reached up to soothingly stroke her cheek, sadness in his eyes. He detested the feeling of seeing the sweet girl that he loved most in this world in such a state.
Morgan looked up at James with her big beautiful hazel eyes, full of tears. With almost a begging look on her face.
"Please James we have to leave right now, where's my phone?"
And suddenly everything became clear. She was still afraid of Pete. James was 100% that the messages Pete had been sending her were the cause of her stress. So James decided to act.
"Is this about Pete? If it is you don't have to worry about him, I took care of it."
And with that Morgan eyes widened and she froze in her place.
"James please tell me you didn't talk to him."
But that didn't make any sense? Why wouldn't she want me to confront the monster who'd been torturing her for god knows how long? James thought to himself.
"I did, I told him to stay away."
He thought such an act would bring Morgan comfort, but she only began to cry harder. She was basically all out sobbing at this point.
"James, if we don't leave- he's gonna find us."
James just couldn't understand how she could be completely unaffected by Bonnie but absolutely terrified of this man. This one insignificant and angry man who he'd saved her from once. Why didn't she believe that he could do it again?
James began to open his mouth to comfort the sweet girl but she spoke again before he could get a word out.
"James if he finds us he's going to kill you."
