My mind wakes but my eyes stay closed. The images from last night rush by and I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to get them out. My eyes pop open and I'm staring into brown eyes. I let out a scream as I scramble backwards, not going very far because I'm leaning against a wall.

"Sammi!" I yell as I push her. "Don't do that!"

Sammi just laughs. "You're the one that fell asleep on me while I was talking."

I pull my feet up to my chest and rest my chin on my knees. "How long did you let me sleep?"

She smiles at me. "Actually, a long time." She flops on the bed. "An hour or so."

"Oh yeah, that's so long." I mock.

"Hey, longer than I was going to let you."

I smile my thanks and look out the window, remembering last night.

"You okay Brandi?"

"Yeah, I am. Sorry, still tired from my long kip." Sammi grins at my usage of a British word. Shes been trying to get me to become British since I came here. It's not a big success. "So what happened with Stephen? Did you two have a nice snog?" I said it with a higher pitch.

Sammi's eyes shot to the floor as her face exploded with a reddish tint. A huge grin consumed her face.

"He did!" I scramble to untie my legs as I sit on the edge and lean forward. "Tell me everything!"

"Well, it was after the party, we were just walking down the street skipping and acting crazy. We were so busy having fun and passed my flat and ended up by the park. So we decided to go. I ran to the swings and sat down. As I went to start swinging, I felt hands on my waste. Stephen was pushing me!" She pauses and smiles, her face going red, before continuing. "After a bit, I jumped off and lost my balance and fell. I rolled to the side laughing. I laid on my back looking at the stars. He came and laid down, his head by mine. I felt him staring at me so I looked. We stared into each others eyes for awhile. And they are really pretty? I mean, actually pretty! Did you know his eyes sparkle?" She smiled again, her eyes shining. "When I was about to say something and well, he uh... He kissed me."

I smiled. "Under the stars, Sammi gets her first kiss! How cute!" She sticks her tongue out like a little child. She had her hair in two braids that fell over her shoulders. She did look like a child. I laughed at her. "What happened next?"

Sammi shifted her weight, the bed squeaking in protest. "Well we talked for awhile before heading back here. He kissed me again before he left. I went in to find you, but you weren't there, so I ran to catch Stephen. And so we looked for you. I was terrified." She scowled at me, her eyebrows creasing, wrinkling her forehead.

"Sorry Sammi, I should have let you know." I decide not to tell her about the guy at the filling station, although she would be excited about me calling it a filling station. But she'd have a heart attack if I said anything to her about the man.

"It's fine." She looks past me at the window behind me. Her stare vacant for a minute before turning back to me. "How was your walk with..." She creases her brow, thinking.

"Liam." She nods. "It was nice actually. He seems like a nice kid and it got my mind off of Terrance." Just saying his name made my blood boil. How could he do that to me? And with the girl he chose? She's the class slut. An easy target. It feels like a slap in the face.

"Brandi, are you sure you're okay?" Sammi's hand touches my shoulder as she asks. At the simple touch of kindness, my eyes began to tear up. The fact that I just broke up with my boyfriend finally hits me and the tears flood in. I can't stop them, I can't slow them. I cannot control them.
