Chapter 6
While Jay was working undercover Atwater and Ruzek took a trip to Columbia University.
They eventually got to Columbia and met with the Dean.
Hello I'm detective Ruzek CPD, this is my partner detective Atwater. We are here on account of a former professor and a former student here.In front of them sat a short red headed woman.
Hello we talked over the phone, I am The dean here, my name is Casandrea Mackris.
I'd be happy to tell you anything you need, whom are you too looking for information on?
Atwater began to speak.
We are looking for information on the relationship between former student "Julia Poaloski" and former professor "Greg Yates".
Why yes, they had quite a relationship you could say.
Said Mackris.
What do you mean by that?
Adam asked.
It was weird. Julia was studying criminal psychology to become an officer, a detective at that, whereas Yates was teaching a medical class. Two different majors, but they were always together. There were rumors that they were seeing each other. Of course I thought those were just rumors but then I personally saw them kiss out in public.
I assumed they broke up after Julia left New York to work over at Statesville.Atwater and Ruzek were disgusted, they were in shock. Yates and a student?
Ms, have you heard of what happened in New York and Chicago about 6 years ago?
Atwater asked.
The murders? Yes I have heard all about them. I wonder if the police ever caught that son of a behind.
Mackris said not knowing about Yates.
Well mam, our unit alongside a unit in New York were the ones working on that case, and Yates was found to have committed all of those murders.
Casadrea's face went pale, she knew about the murders, not who did them.
She now wanted to help more than ever, but she still had one question.
Did you catch him?
Technically yes, we put him away but a year after he escaped custody. Then a national manhunt went out on him and a former detective from our unit tracked him down and shot him. He's dead.Casadrea was relieved. A man she used to know who worked under her supervision was responsible for the ghastly murders was now dead. He couldn't hurt anyone anymore.
The three continued to talk about Julia and Greg's relationship.
It was gut-wrenching for Adam and Kevin to just hear about the "connection" they had.
It was now proven that there was a motive for Julia to let Foster out. They both had an itch to seek revenge for their lost friend.
Adam and Kevin hurried over to the FBI's counterterrorism" level so they could get back to Chicago and work with Intelligence.
They explained the whole messed up situation of Julia and Yates' relationship.
They had to call Voight to tell him that they have gotten enough evidence and witnesses that will go on trial to arrest Julia.Voight was proud, he even told Adam, and Kevin that he was.
That was something Voight never said.
They told Voight that they were coming home but Voight instructed them to stay in New York to back up Jay and that he will put Hailey back on the case and get Burgess back upstairs.
The two obliged and awaited Jays mandatory third check in.
*Back in at Fosters secret meeting space*
Foster brought the girl into the "victim room" and Jay started to hear screams and slaps.
Jay thought to himself,
"Was I just seeing things? It couldn't be them could it? I need to make sure that it wasn't"-
Jays thoughts were interrupted by Foster yelling at him to meet him in the "victim room"What do you need?
Jay asked.
Come look at our next girl, isn't she perfect? She is the final piece to Yates' legacy.
Jay was confused on what Foster meant on "final", but he walked into the room readying himself to see the worst.
What he saw was indeed the worst.
His worst nightmare came true.
It was-
Jay began to whisper something under his breath.
It was-
Erin?
