Lilith, twenty-four years old, and the sister of Joanna.
Such a surreal feeling that is death, Lilith's mind was clouded with every memory she shared with her now departed sister. Even the simplest of memories flooded her thoughts; birthdays, graduation, even her sisters first heartbreak and of course haunted by every argument they had.
Lilith regretted every bad word she had shot back at her sister with rehearsing every petty mistake she made as she glided down with her physical body to her sisters open casket whilst leaving her shredded mental state back at the pew alongside her weeping mother. Her heart stung as her eyes met her sisters corpse, a shell of the person she once loved and held now a mixture of decay and chemicals. She questioned her sisters poor fate and depression hang over her head swallowing every portrayal she had of Joanna, she lay a rose for her sister as snot and tears streamed from her face, her hands shook as she said her final goodbyes.
A familiar warm arm hook around her and embraced her, pulling her away from the sisters coffin. she fell into her fathers arms pouring her emotions into his chest and spiralling into a tragic breakdown, breathing in her fathers aftershave as he brushed her thick auburn hair her father swallowed his loss for his eldest daughter and ushered her to join her mother on the church pew as the buckled into each others grief.
When the service was over friends and family exited the church to begin their path of a great loss, Lilith stayed alone sat in a trance in shock that her sister was no longer there to comfort her or to see her first born or to attend her wedding, her sister was not there to answer her calls and her sister was not there to make her smile.
"I'm sorry for your loss"
A strong, crisp, masculine voice echoed through the churches structure and disturbing Lilith bring her back to reality.
She turn to the direction to where this alien voice came from and was met with a tall build, boyish mousy brown curls, piercing blue eyes and a defined jawline that sat on a neck leading to a toned form.
Her eyes danced across his physique in embarrassment as her lips quivered struggling to string a sentence to reply with.
She blinked away her tears and tucked her tangled locks behind her ears."Err...Thankyou" she finally mustered whilst clearing her throat.
He chuckles, extending out an arm to shake her hand.
"I'm Thomas. An old friend of Joanna's..she mentioned you a lot, it's a real shock to have such an awful end for such a loving woman"his lips curved as he stuffed his hands into his pockets.
"Mmm..She was special for a lot of people" Lilith sank with her response
Thomas grew in closer stroking her cheek, his heavenly smell filled Lilith making her melt, how could she feel this way! At her sisters funeral! She fell back her eyes fixed to the floor.
"It was nice meeting you but I think I should find the others" her rapid response making Thomas blush.
"You too Lilith" Thomas replied, flashing a white smile and turning to exit the church.
Lilith breathed a sigh of relief, disgraced and embarrassed for having any other thought but grief on a day like this.
She followed and soon joined her parents, faces turned into a blur as one by one people came to pay their respects and to offer their support, her mother wrapped her arms around Lilith
" I can't believe she is gone" sighed her mother
