Narrator POV
The computer screen popped up the location "Fairview, Michigan" from where Bendy had called.
"So what do you think?" Cup asked as Mickey as he turned facing him.
"She sounds the same." Mick said setting down his pencil as he leaned back in his chair.
"Well good. Because if he changed his appearance." Before Cuphead could say anymore, Mickey ushered out the officer who put up the map in his office. He looked at him as he leaned forward.
"I remember her okay? The diner. The scam. Only thing I don't remember is why you broke the rules, and decided to marry the bitch." Mick said with a smug smirk. That day at the diner when Cup met Bendy, it wasn't supposed to go as far as it did. He pulled that scam on many girls and guys in his life, it was a way for him to get laid easier. People had that soft side to them of some stranger sticking up for them to protect them from humiliation. It was perfect, but with Bendy, Cup felt something more different. It wasn't strong enough to keep him from reverting back to his old ways. As much as he could care about one person, that dark ugliness still clouded his thoughts and his heart. When Mick called Bendy a bitch, Cuphead narrowed his eyes at him.
"He's not a bitch." He tells him in a dark tone. Despite the circumstances, Cup wouldn't appeal to anyone insulting Bendy. Only he felt it right to call him such things. Or she. Whatever they prefer. Cuphead really didn't care about that.
"Sorry. Well, she is a waitress." Mick states as he stands up to go to the map. Cuphead raised a brow looking at him.
"What's that supposed to mean, Mickey?" He asks in a defensive tone.
"Means she's stupid. First to call your brother, then to call you." He says. It would seem like a dumb move to any person in his level of work of law enforcement. To Cup though, he knew many people assumed those rules of being discreet.
"They're not stupid. She think what anyone thinks. That if you keep the calls short they can't be traced." Cup said trying to be defensive of Bendy. He didn't know why he was, especially with how furious he was at her.
"I just gotta know. Out of all the women and men we pulled that stunt on. Why her?" Mickey asked as he leaned over the desk Cup sat behind. He didn't know if he should answer. Mick never asked that question before, even though at times it came close to it. Cup wasn't sure what the answer was himself.
"Maybe it's love." Cup said softly as he looked up at the ceiling. Maybe it was. Cup didn't understand love like others did. He didn't know how to deal with these feelings, and his need to keep his pride conflicted it. There might've been a part of him that truly loved Bendy, but the other parts of him wouldn't allow that to come out.
"Yeah. I know what that means. If you were smart you'd forget him." Mick said as he folded up a map on his desk. Cup felt agitated as he turned to him.
"I can't simply forget him, she kidnapped my kid!" Cuphead remarked as he sat up.
"How many times do I have to go there? It's not kidnapping. When someone who takes the kid that isn't the parent, yes that's what it is. When the mother takes the child it's parenting." Mick explained for like the thirtieth time that week. Cup had it lodged in his brain that Bendy kidnapped his child. He didn't want Gracie with him since he thought he would turn his baby girl against him. He rolled his eyes as he stood up grabbing his jacket.
"How soon can you get there?" He asks as he walked over to him as he stood near the exit of his office.
"I don't know. Man, I could lose my job for this." Mick said laughing lightly. Cuphead stared down at him, his tone back to being serious.
"You could lose your job, for doing all these other jobs, besides doing your job." Cuphead reminded him. Mick swallowed the lump in his throat as he felt taken back.
"I. I know some guys there-"
"Like your guys in Seattle? I don't think so Mickey. They don't know who she is, what she sounds like. They're gonna spot him and run before they ever get a chance. It's you Mickey. Or. It's you." Cup said in a threatening tone as Mick took a step back not saying anything.
With Bendy and Gracie, the two sat at their small dinner table as they silently had dinner.
"How is it? It's good right?" Bendy asked her as she poked her food with her fork. Bendy ran his hand along his face feeling a headache coming.
"No it's not. It's terrible." They said softly letting out a breath of distress.
"It's not terrible mom." Gracie said reassuringly as she moved the peas on her plate around, trying to give a sincere expression.
"Yeah. But it's not good, is it?" Bendy asked softly tilting their head to the side.
"Mom, you tasted it." She tells them as Bendy looked down at his plate nodding. It wasn't the food they were having an issue with. They took their plate putting it in the sink as they turned on the sink. Bendy felt a knot in his chest from today's events. Knowing what he is stuck in, and not sure how he can guarantee his success out of it. They couldn't help but think back to try and find where it all went wrong. This was something they never wanted to happen. Having a risk of losing their own child, their safety insecure, and feeling so alone. Bendy covered his eyes trying hard to fight back their tears, but they crept out from their eyes. She did her best to stifle his cries, but they were clear as day. Gracie furrowed her brows looking up at her mom wanting her to be happy.
"You know what I think?" She asked as Bendy took a big breath of air.
"No sweetie, what's that?" He asked wiping away his tears trying to get themself together.
"I think you miss daddy." She says in a soft voice as Bendy sighed roughly shaking his head slightly. A part of him did miss Cuphead, but not enough to actually need to be by him.
"Daddy yells at me muffin." She tells her.
"Well, you miss somebody." She tells her sincerely as Bendy sighed looking down. This was true. He miss him dearly, and, it wouldn't hurt to see him again.
