Bendy POV

The busy street of San Francisco slowed as I held Gracie's hand as we crossed the street into the large building before us. I sat with Gracie in the lobby waiting as the secretary I talked to when into the back office I could see clearly.

"Joey, some woman in the lobby that says she's your daughter, insists upon seeing you." I overheard her telling him. I fixed Gracie's hair as we stood up and I saw Joey walk out looking at me standing by his secretary.

"She can't be my daughter, I haven't had sex in years or created any cartoons. Not in this country at least." He chuckled looking at Gracie. I held in my scoff.

"Not her. Me. I'm your child." I tell him as he raised a brow at me. He turned and I followed him holding Gracie close.

"What year were you created?" He asks as I narrowed my eyes in disbelief.

"You are my father Joey! I went to the old factory at least 20 times! Even when mom died you didn't answer my letters! I had no money to bury her that was so fun!" I said sarcastically as he gave me an unfazed look.

"Hey, don't blame me, I didn't kill her." I leaned my head back as I bit my cheek.

"Oh no, you had help." I tell him. He chuckles shaking his head.

"That's a stupid thing to say. Look, what do you want? Money?" He asks as I looked at him dead on.

"No. I wanted Gracie to meet her grandpa." I say bringing her forward some as he looked at her.

"Hi." He says simply before straightening his stance waiting for me to continue. I scoffed slightly as I felt horrible for what I said next.

"And yes. We need money to survive." I tell him as he chuckled.

"You know from '68 to '72 I had 5 kids, and many creations. Maybe more. Hell half the people in that room could be mine. It's a running joke around here." He tells me as I look at him in disbelief.

"How you gonna feel when you wake up one morning and find out that your kid is dead? And you didn't do anything to help?" I ask him seriously with a pained expression because he continued to reject me as his own kin. He chuckled more.

"You're good. But you're not the first to think of this scam. Especially since that article. So I'll give you what I gave the others 6 bucks. Enough to buy a sandwich. But for you I'll make it 12. Be sure to buy the kid a sandwich too." He says and lays down the money on his desk as he goes to leave.

"You know what! I believe this originally belonged to you." I say grunting as I ripped off the necklace on me and gave it to him.

"Pawn it! Since you're so hard up. I'm sure it's worth more then 12 bucks." I tell him before picking up Gracie and walking out of the office and out the building. A few blocks down the road I sat on some concrete stair cases as I could no longer hold in my tears.

I don't know what to do now. I never thought I would end up in this situation with my life in danger, and my own lover trying to take away my daughter. I let out a soft cry as I planted my face into my hands. I didn't want Gracie to see me like this. I never wanted any of this to happen in her life. I felt like a horrible parent. I felt even more horrible that my father continued this rejection. In one of my letters I told him how I was non-binary, and he ended up replying, to say that he didn't want to know such a weird thing. I sniffled as I tried to stop my tears but they wouldn't

"Daddy, don't cry. Please don't cry daddy." I heard Gracie say feeling her small hands rub mine soothingly. I looked at her sniffling as she had small tears of her own. I gently brisked her face before bringing her close into a heartfelt hug. I'll figure out something for me, and especially my little girl. I don't have much choice now, she's my priority.

New Leaf

I looked out at the large lake as I stood on the ferry. I had changed my hair to be more discreet. In the past, my hair was cut very short to where you couldn't tell what was my hair and what was my actual fur and horns. For the past few days it's been growing fast so I just added extensions and now I have my long hair again. I used to have it like this in high school.

"Mommy!" I heard Gracie say as I looked at her. I picked her up and the two of us looked out at the view. I didn't realize Northern Michigan was so pretty and calm. After the ferry, we hitched a ride with a man named Tom. He parked at a tall building and the two of us followed him up a flight of stairs. He brought us to a room me and Gracie were going to stay in.

"I'm sorry this is the best we can do." He tells me as I shook my head.

"Don't worry we're fine." I tell him and he nods leaving.

"Who are all these people mom?" Gracie asked as I took off her coat.

"They're kind of. Friends of friends of Henry." I tell her as I put her coat away. The next day I took Gracie with me to the local library. I scrolled through old obituaries from the 1970s. My eyes landed on one name, Allison Ray Pendle. It was perfect because the poor thing didn't survive that whole year. After remembering the name and other information I went to the local vital records office.

"Hi, I lost my birth certificate." I tell the lady. I soon got another paper of live birth, this time with Allison's name instead of mine. After that I went and got a new security card, and ID. I was going through a lot to make sure I could hide where me and Gracie were from Cuphead. It was quite the hassle, but I managed. During the few days I was there I was helping in the office of the Marina Services, where Henry's friend Tom was working. I was currently in the office looking over some files when I heard him come in catching my attention.

"Hey, this is for you. Henry sent it." He said with a happy smile. I was a bit surprised considering all contact with my friends was cut off. I took the package and saw a letter on top of it. I began to read it before opening it.

Dear Bends,

Yesterday three men threatened to kill me if I helped you in any way. Kind of funny since the leader of the bunch was also a devil. Anyways, fortunately for you, this aroused my interest. I'm sending this to an old address. The diner where you used to work. If this reaches you and you need more. Leave a word at my office.

,Joey

I opened the package and gasped at the infinite amount of 100 dollar bills. I looked through and nearly had to hold back tears of joy. I just couldn't believe my dad was finally helping me. I wonder if he believes me now. Probably not.
