So this was requested by the same person who wanted the first Hawk shot. So here we go again! Slight angst Ig and trigger warning for loosing parents.
---------------
You didn't have parents. Well, you did, just not anymore. You parents died when you were young, so your moms best friend, Mrs. Moskowitz, took you in. They died in a car wreck while you survived. You didn't know why it didn't take you too, it would've been better that way. You were depressed. For a long time, but your best friend Eli was always there for you. No matter what.
-

It was a nice day out, you and Mrs.Moskowitz were cooking in the kitchen. You didn't particularly enjoy cooking, really you didn't enjoy anything but Eli's company.

Eli had been different lately. Not even subtlety different. He's so angry now, he's got a Mohawk, a tattoo that his parents don't know about. He's changed and not for the better.

I hear the front door open and slam. He's home. "I-I need to go change, I've got flour on my clothes." You made your best excuse, which you weren't lying, you did in fact have flour all over yourself, you just needed to get away from him.

"Oh? Go ahead honey, I'll finish up." Mrs.Moskowitz replies with a smile as you bolt it for the stairs.

It's hard to even face Eli now. There's just something that makes you feel weird around him. It wasn't a bad feeling, but that didn't mean you liked it. It was there before he changed, and it's still there, but stronger.

You changed your clothes in your room and hesitantly walked down the stairs. You changed in to your favorite hoodie and black jeans. It was one of your more comfortable outfits. You were kinda insecure about yourself and hoodies helped with it.

Once at the bottom you avoided Eli's gaze and went to grab forks for the table. Once done with your task you sat at the small dining table across from the artificial red head.

No words were said between the two of you, there was a heavily tense atmosphere above you two. It didn't seem like his parents could feel it, but you could tell he did.

"So how was practice Eli?" Mrs.Moskowitz asks. "I already told you. It's Hawk now, mom. It was fine." Right, he goes by Hawk now. You didn't hate the name, it just wasn't him. It wasn't your Eli.

-

Once dinner was over you started to head for your room. You wanted to be alone with your crushing thoughts. You place your foot on the step as you feel a tug on your shirt.

"Can we talk?" Eli asks, letting go of your shirt. You feel blood rush to your cheeks as you gently nod your head. He starts up the stairs ahead of you and you follow him to his room.

He's got posters on the wall from karate. Stickers from his dojo are places on his dresser that he never uses. His clothes are strung out on the floor and a pile of dirty clothes in the corner.

"Why won't you talk to me?" He stands in front of you when you go to sit on his bed.

"What do you mean? We're talking right now." You say. He sighs and sits down, leaving room for you in the process.

"You know exactly what I mean. I'm not dumb Y/N. You didn't say a word at dinner, you haven't said more than ten words to me all week." He seems genuinely hurt you haven't talked to him.

"I'm sorry, it's just- your different. And I am still very much the same. Your always so angry and rude and demanding, when you used to be so nice and awkward and self conscious about your lip." You look into your lap. He brings his fingers to his lip and traces the mark.

"Listen, I'm feeling the best I've ever felt. I'm just, well, I'm not as happy as I thought I would be. There are no bullies now, no one to call me names. People respect me now, but it's all out of fear. I act like I like it, but really it's horrifying. I can't talk to anyone anymore except kids at the dojo. And fucking demitri!" He punches the wall with that last part earning a yell from his mom and another hole in the dry wall.

You feel sorry for him, but at the same time this was his choice. Eli is still in there, somewhere. Not deep. "I need to leave." The fluttering feeling within your chest seems to be getting bigger by the second.

"No! Stay! Please." You don't turn around. "Depends, who am I talking to?" You say. Your tone cold.

"Eli, y/n. Eli." You didn't realize it but your eyes had started to water. A tear fell down your cheek and you turn to your friend. "Are you sure?" You ask.

"Y-Yeah." His face softens. A Eli face, not a Hawk face. Something more sincere.

You take this moment to wrap your arms around his waist and hug him tightly. "I missed you. The real you." After a moment he hugs back.

"I know, I know."

Hope that was enjoyable! This one was a bit sappier than I had planned, but who cares! Not me, I'm enjoying myself. 893 words. Adios loves.
