Note: I have an iron deficiency so I made the reader anemic for a little fun and if you notice Supernatural Easter eggs in this, don't say anything about it. You call him Eli most of the time too.-YOUR POV-
"So- how did you become a "vampire" exactly?" This thing was still very new to me. A week had past since he told me. The fangs I had gotten used to, but the drinking rabbits blood regularly was quite strange.
His hair was down and fluffed out around his head. You liked it much better down and fluffy. He was sitting across from you, like always, in your living room.
"I wasn't born one, that's for sure. I don't know when it happened though. I just woke up one day and, for some reason, was really craving the taste of iron. I didn't pay any attention until I went to school the next day and a kid got their arm cut doing god knows what and I almost couldn't control myself." He looks down at the cup that's half empty and scoots it down the coffee table.
You looked him in the eyes. A somber expression crossed his face and he sighs. "What did you do?"
I ask, but he just raises the cup of blood for an answer. "Started drinking this shit. Not as rich as some people, but it's a start and it keeps me going." He says, taking another swig."But, what does human blood taste like compared to that?" I ask, almost immediately regretting my decision. He smirks and leans closer.
"Depends, some, really nice, keeps me fed for a couple days even, but you- your so fucking anemic that you couldn't feed a baby." I pick up one of the coasters and fling it at him, making him laugh.
"I swear Eli I'm gonna kick your ass one of these days." He makes a fake pouting face at me as i stand to walk in the kitchen.
"Aw, is princess sad because they taste bad?" He snarks, following right behind me.
I stop at the sink and he slinks his arms around my shoulders. "Get off me. I'm supposed to be mad at you." I laugh to myself and he huffs out a snort.
"None of this bothers you, does it?" He asks, a sudden sincerity to his voice. I set down the plate I was attempting to wash and look at him.
I thought for a moment. Not long, but long enough to make him worry. "No, not really. It was weird at first, yeah. It tools a little bit to get used to, but it is what it is I guess." I shrug.
My chest feels heavy as I say my next words. "But my parents can never find out about this, okay? That would be really bad for you. I can't let that happen." Curiosity visibly bubbles in Eli's eyes.
"I never planned on them finding out, but what makes you say that?" I look away from him and hide my face on my hands.
"Y/N, are we in danger?" He pulls my hands from my face and holds them tight.
My chest burns. How could I have forgotten? Why was I so careless. I hurry over to the calendar and looks through the days. I find today's date and exactly two days from now is circled in red pen.
"Didn't you ever wonder why my parents were never home?" I ask. Worry is like a harsh splash of cold water, waking him up from a deep sleep on a Saturday morning. Cold. Harsh. Quick
"Your parents- they're.." he walks towards me and brings his voice to a whisper. "Hunters?" He says it softly, almost inaudible.
"I didn't think they were around anymore." He looks off to the side as I grab one of his hands with both of mine.
"I'm so sorry, Eli. I don't know how I could have forgotten. I'm so stupid, I- should have told you sooner," my rambling is cut short when Eli wraps his arms around me.
"We can get through this, okay? They don't have to find out. We can-" just then a sharp knock on the door seizes my movements.
"Y/N? Are you in there? We need to talk." The voice of a close friend is behind the door, but I'm scared to death that they might not be the only one on the other side.
"Elena? Are you alone?" Eli moves out of my way as I walk to the door. I look out the small peephole and only one person stands there.
Her back is to the door, but her long black hair is tied in her signature pony tail. I open the door slowly and step into the cold outdoors.
"What are you doing here?" I ask. The question hangs in the air as Elena scowls at me through her emerald eyes.
"You are in some deep shit you know." Her words are spoken quickly through a hiss. Her face is distorted into one of pure anger, but sadness is still very apparent.
"What do you mean?" I ask yet another question that will probably go unanswered.
"You know exactly what I mean! You have a vampire in your house right now! I swear Y/N-" "how did you know he's a vampire?"
"Stop asking so many damn questions! I'm here to protect you! He is a dangerous monster and you're playing smooshy face with him!" I think it's about time I tell you exactly who Elena is.
Her parents are also hunters. Our families are "hunting buddies" is what we like to call it. They're both out on a big hunt right now but will return in two days. Probably.
"I" she hesitates and closes her eyes. "watched him bite someone at a party last weekend. There was this kid dressed in a mummy costume-" "wait wait wait. You thought he bit someone. At a Halloween party." I grab her shoulders and shake her back and forth.
"That was me, dumbass! And he didn't bite me! We just... kissed." She looks like she's ready to slap me now. Embarrassment is visible through her blush, but otherwise she just looks pissed.
"You either kill him now, or save him but telling him to fuck off, Kay?" She hands me a little vial of something and turns to walk away. "Don't say I didn't warn you!"
I turn the little vial over in my hand. "Belladonna root" is written on a small piece of paper, glued to the side.
She wants me to poison him. Not enough to kill him, but to weaken him so I can kill him.
I'm not killing my boyfriend that's rude.
I walk back in the house with a sigh. "So, you gonna kill me now?" Eli asks. I should be surprised, but I already know that vampire hearing is next level.
"She warned me, and gave me this." I throw the little vial at him and he catches it in his right hand.
"This can't kill me, she knows that right?" He scoffs and sets the vial on the table.
"It's not to kill you, it's to weaken you. Belladonna are deadly to regular people, like myself, but it would just give you something like a bad cold." I say, sitting down on the couch beside him. I lay my head on his shoulder as he flips through the tv channels.
"She really thought I bit you?" He asks. I snicker and pick up the vial. "She did indeed. And was super pissed about it. But that night you did bite someone, who was it?"
He laughs back and shakes his head. "I found another bunny. I couldn't see what I was doing exactly so I'm pretty thankful it was a Halloween party so the blood rolling down my chin looked particularly normal." He finds a channel he must've liked well enough and hits select, a newer tv show comes on the screen.
"We have two days, by then we need you safe. Got it?" I say, taking his hand in mine.
"Whatever makes you happy, princess. Now be quiet so I can watch my show." He says with a smile.
