Chapter 10

- Did you forget?.. Did you forget?.. About me?..

My phone rang once again making me groan loudly.. Just like the other times I pick it up, see Demi's name and decline

She has been trying to talk to me for the last few hours.. It's midnight now and she still hasn't given up

I lay down my guitar to get a snack downstairs when when I hear the front door open and Joe calling my name

- What?! - I shouted back somewhat irritated

I close the fridge door after taking my diet soda and walked to the front door seeing Miley with him

- Hey Miley.. how are you?

- Nick we gotta talk.. can you come out for two seconds?

I sighed and Joe walked by - I still need my money

- Fuck off Joe

He chuckled and I accompanied Miley outside

Closing the front door, Miley sits on the small step of my porch

- So.. What's up?

She looked up smiling and patted the step next to her making me roll my eyes and sit down

- I told you to not go away Nick..

I frowned looking at her - What?!

- Nick.. I know she hurt you but believe me that if you walk away it's worse

- How could it be worse?! I just needed some space.. besides, I know that now I definitely have no chance whatsoever..

- Come on Nick! - she groaned - you're being such a baby right now!!

- Maybe I am.. but she is too.. she should be the one here talking to me.. not you!

My phone started ringing again and I sighed taking it off of my pocket

- Please answer it.. You really don't want to do this to her..

- Why? what could be so devastating?

- Nick.. - Miley took a deep breath and turned to look at me again - I can't tell you.. just do it.. it won't hurt to talk..

I looked down at my phone and nodded - I'm going to kill you Miley

She chuckled and stood up - Believe me.. you're saving her life..

I frowned and looked down again hearing Miley's steps go away

I wasn't sure why was I being so immature but I knew it had something about my fear.. I didn't want to lose her because somehow she became my favorite girl in the world.. she became my.. best friend..

I pushed the green button and carefully put my phone on my ear

- Hello?

- Oh my God Nick.. please let me explain.. I didn't-

She started rambling but I cut it off

- Wanna go to the white house right now?

- Yes.. please Nick.. come I'm already here waiting..

I sighed - I'll be there in 10 minutes

- Thank you..

I went back home putting on my shoes and went out still drinking my coke.. I was really nervous to talk to her.. what if it gets worse?

Finally get close to the house, I saw a figure looking around frantically.. when she turned her face to me, she started running so I knew it was Demi

She ran towards me and grabbed my waist.. she had been crying and she was now rambling and talking.. for some reason, I had a smile on my face while I placed my hands on her back and head

- Calm down Demi.. it's not that big of a deal.. - I said softly still walking with her around my waist

I reached the house and sat on the rock near it making her seat next to me.. she was still sobbing and crying

- Demi?

She looked up and I smiled - We're fine okay? Don't worry..

She smiled nodding and hugged me tighter

- I'm so sorry Nick.. Please stop being mad..

I chuckled and caressed her head - I could never be mad.. I was hurt..

- I'm so sorry..

I smiled and kissed her head - Lets go inside? I'm really tired..

She nodded and we walked inside.. thank god she had brought a blanket..

We sat on the floor and when I finally looked at her she was still crying and looking at the window

- I'm sorry.. - I started making her look at me

- For what?.. This was all my fault..

I shook my head - No.. I was really immature and I shouldn't have walked away.. I hate when people do that to me too, but I just needed to go out for a while..

- Why did you got so mad.. I mean.. I know that what I've done was really wrong but I would've never do what you did..

I looked down - Because when he walked in, you practically ran to him and you looked happy.. when I asked Alfred who he was, he told me he was your old partner.. He said you would have to choose between us.. - I said darting my eyes up - When he occupied my spot was like a stab in the back and the fact that you didn't notice was an even bigger stab.. I felt invisible and useless..

She frowned when our eyes connected - I'm so sorry Nick.. I didn't know you felt that..

I nodded - It's okay.. we're alright now, right? We're friends right?

She nodded smiling - Of course!

I chuckled and we went to sleep.. It was nice to tell her how I felt.. At least we were in good terms now..

But that doesn't mean I'll keep being her partner..
