Sport day.
Tubbo had told Tommy about this day a few times. Phil took any volunteers to put on a sports team to enter into a game against another school. Sometimes it was a prep school, sometimes it was a private school. Either way, it was a way to blend the school in.
Neither Tommy or Tubbo volunteered, but they both went to the game. It was an away game, at a school called Bronzewood High. Tommy recognized name and was sure it was a school he had gone to in the past. Which wasn't good.
The two sat on the bleachers with the slushees Tubbo had bought them.
"It really fun to watch only because our school sucks. We never know what we're doing. We know the basics and that's it." Tubbo explained, giggling the entire time he spoke.
Tommy smiled, for once looking forward to watching a school game. He went to one once and it started raining.
As they watched the teams warm up on the field, a familiar voice entered Tommy's ears.
"Is that Thomas? The dickwad?"
Tommy turned his head, Tubbo following suite. A group of boys around their age stood. Tommy knew them, but Tubbo had never seen them in his life.
The one that had called Tommy's name was Jason. He always wore a baseball cap, his clothes never matching it. He was on the heavier side, always body shaming Tommy for being far more skinnier than he was. His friend to his left was a skinner dude, but not quite as skinny as Tommy. He was a red head, which always made Tommy feel better when he was being mean to him. The friend on his left was a shorter guy, probably extra smart for his age considering he did not look the same age as the rest of them. He wore clothes bigger than fit.
Now, he could never remember the names of the other two boys, but it didn't matter.
All that mattered was the fact that they were there. There was no doubt they would just pick on Tommy the entire time.
Tommy turned away as soon as he realized who it was with a pout. "Why are they here?"
"Who are they?" Tubbo asked, looking at his friend worriedly. "They don't look very nice."
"Bullies from my old school, like, literally the last school I was at." Tommy replied. "They suck."
"You go to a private school now? Who's fostering you this time orphan?" Jason laughed.
There was a whistle from down below, "hey you! If I see you picking on Tommy again I'll be up there!"
Tommy and Tubbo almost burst out laughing at the funny threat from Wilbur. He was pointing two fingers between the bullies and his eyes. He looked as if he was joking, but both boys knew he was dead serious.
"Oh wow, he has friends at this school." The smaller one snickered. "How scary."
Despite the threat, the smaller one shuffled over and sat next to Tommy. "So, Thomas. How's boarding school treating you? Heard even Mrs. Danna couldn't handle your sorry ass."
"I like it." Tommy ignored the last comment, choosing to not give what the bullies wanted.
"Really? Did a foster family really just send you to a boarding school?"
"Actually!" Tubbo cut in. "This school is made specifically for foster kids who meet a certain criteria. Tommy was exceptionally smart, so they sent him here."
"Yeah, I don't buy that." Jason snorted. "The kid was failing back at Bronzewood."
"I was giving you the coverup version." Tubbo's voice dropped a few octaves, his stare becoming a dark glare.
What was Tubbo getting at? Where was he going with this?
All three boys took a step back. "Then give the real one, dude."
"The school is for kids with bad luck so bad they've ended life. Meaning, every single one of us here have ended a life." Tubbo's voice stayed low, and his stare didn't change. "We're murderers. Including Tommy."
Tommy nearly choked on his drink. Tubbo was telling the half truth, but that was exactly what made it funny. Tubbo was making it seem like it was meant for delinquent kids.
"I don't know if I believe that."
"Yeah." Tommy slurped. "They covered it up, but I was staying with a married couple when I went to Bronzewood. Mrs. Danna was one of them." Tommy turned to make eye contact with Jason. "She died."
Which, was a lie. Mrs. Danna was very much alive when he left, she just got diagnosed with cancer. They didn't know if she was going to make it so they sent Tommy back. So whether she was alive now or not was unknown to Tommy.
Jason scoffed. "Yeah, right. You're just trying to scare us off."
"Don't believe us?" Tubbo gestured to our volunteer team. "Look at our team. Littered in scars. Ask them. Ask any of them, they'll say the same thing."
"Now, Tubbo."
Techno appeared behind the bullies, arms crossed as he looked down on the two. Surprisingly, Techno hadn't volunteered.
"Let's not scare away possible friends, shall we?"
Tubbo pouted. "They're being mean to Tommy."
"Tommy?" Jason snickered. "Is that what they call you now? Sounds like a toddler's name. . ." Jason stopped talking, seemingly getting the chills. He slowly looked back at Techno, who was staring him down menacingly.
"It's best if you leave. You don't want to be on our list of dead friends."
Jason swallowed, by tried his best to not seem intimidated. "You'd be in jail if you actually had killed someone."
"We're kids. Special cases. But again, it doesn't mean we won't do it again." Techno took a step towards them. "I'm sure my brother, Wilbur down there can second that."
"I sure can!" Wilbur, shockingly, shouted back. Tommy didn't think he could hear Techno, but then again they were twins.
Jason and his goons shuffled away.
Techno sat down next to the boys with a sigh. "I hate Brozewood."
"I can second that." Tommy agreed. "Their teachers aren't any better."
"Did you go there?" Techno asked.
Tommy nodded. "It was the last school I went to. It was supposedly made for kids struggling with mental illnesses and all that but," Tommy laughed. "They don't care if you're having a panic attack, you better finish your test."
"Oh wow, dickheads."
Tubbo's eyes widened in shock. Tommy gave him a weird look.
They watched whatever game they seemed to be playing, which was a funny. Bad, the one who ended up coaching the volunteer teams, was continuously yelling at them whenever they did something wrong. Which was every five seconds.
Eventually the game came to an end and their school lost, which was inevitable. They hardly knew what they were doing.
