When they came back from break, Tommy threw himself at Tubbo. The two hugged for a very long time, and Tommy could feel his mood brighten. He hadn't felt that happy in so long.
The two finally pulled away after a minute or two. Tommy's face fell when he got a good look at Tubbo.
Tubbo had dark eye bags and a black eye to give in to the eye bag. Tubbo was still smiling despite the pain he was in.
"What happened to you?" Tommy asked.
Tubbo shrugged. "I got into a fight with Schlatt. It's nothing bad." Tubbo's smile grew. "I won."
Tommy couldn't help the laugh that escaped him after the last two words. Yeah, at least Tubbo won.
The two walked to their room together and unpacked the few things they brought with them to break. They sat on their beds and talked and talked, despite being on the phone just a few hours before. Tommy talked about his newest interest, gaming. Tubbo was very supportive of it, being a gamer himself. The two mostly enjoyed the game Minecraft and promised each other they would play together sometime. Tubbo talked about bears and how it would be so cool if he could meet some since he was technically able to mind control animals themselves. Tommy agreed that it would be a super weapon if he could meet them. All in all, the two caught up well.
The door creaked open, Mr. Bomb peaking his head in. "Time to go to bed, boys. It's way past curfew."
Tommy glanced at the clock. "I forgot we had curfew here." He admitted.
"As did I." Tubbo huffed as he tucked himself into his bed.
Their lumberjack for a teacher closed the door and they listened to his footsteps fade.
"Wanna go to the garden?" Tubbo asked once the footsteps were out of earshot.
"I thought you'd never ask." Tommy said with a smile.
Sneaking out late at night to go to the garden would forever be their favorite past-time.
They had to be extra careful this night considering they usually snuck out after Tommy had a night terror, not before. Everyone was dead asleep by then and not a single teacher was roaming the halls for students up past curfew. However, they still made it to the garden.
They stared up at the stars again, both breathing in the fresh air they were currently getting.
"Tubbo." Tommy said, earning a quiet hum from the boy. "Am I your family?"
Tubbo opened his eyes as a smile appeared of his face. "Definitely."
"Really?"
"You're more family than Schlatt is, and he's actually related to me." Tubbo said. "And we're both pretty certain we have a power bond. That's more family than anything."
Tommy smiled. "Yeah, that makes sense." He looked up at the stars again. "It's just, when I was staying with Phil, Techno called me his brother. A few days later, they both basically agreed that I wasn't part of the family."
"That's fucked." Tubbo scoffed. "They're probably just used to it just being them. Phil's never fostered a kid before."
Tommy nodded. "Yeah, I suppose that's true."
Silence filled the atmosphere again. The silence between the two was always comfortable.
However, Tommy shifted quickly upon noticing four figure walk out of the school. They weren't teachers, Tommy knew that. It had to be a bunch of students.
