Iris POV

I wrung my hands together, squeezing them and moving them back and forth. I paced, as Talia and Auriana stared at me in wonder.

Not that I was angry, of course. It had been at least 2 months since I had seen them.

Talia cleared her throat, and I looked at her, the expression on my face more than a little irritated. She pointed with her thumb at a figure crossing his arms and leaning against a wall, while talking to Dawn.

I sped to them, and Lev opened his arms, letting me fall into them.

Dawn looked on at us, her facial expression not even wavering. Anyone who didn't know her wouldn't be able to tell the tiny crack that had been chipped into her heart.

Breathing deeply, she sighed.

"Iris, do you know this person?" she asked, a hitch in her voice making her stop.

"Yes." I nodded, looking between Lev and Dawn, who stared at each other. There was something there, a degree or two beyond basic concern.

I stepped back, my face crumpling.

"Of course, Sir Lev, you are welcome here," my formalities coming to the surface.

"As are you, Ms. Dawn." I continued.

"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to retire to my room," I paused, the tears coming out in large sobs.

"Iris, wait," Lev said, then looked at Dawn for help. I glared at her, and dashed off to my room.

I could hear footsteps following me, but I wiped away my tears quickly enough so that they would stop running down my face. I paused, and started to walk again, my flats barely clicking against the floor. Panting, Lev caught up to me.

"Iris, what was that about?" he stared at me.

"Lev, I can see you care for her, obviously more than in a brotherly way. " I pointed out, brushing away another small tear.

He held me by my wrists, but I managed to stare at a space just over his shoulder.

"Iris, look at me." he pleaded.

I looked at him with a blank expression on my face.

"I chose you!" I sobbed.

"Iris, I-" he didn't even finish his sentence.

"I chose you." I repeated, looking at him through teary eyes.

"After all we had been through, choosing, decisions, the Royal life." I clarified.

I ripped my hands out of his steel grip, his prints leaving a mark. I stormed off, the best I could do in flats and a floor-length dress.

This time, I didn't hear footsteps. All I heard were the maids, scurry to and fro, laughing after one would tell a joke.

I buried my face in my pillow, and cried. I cried until there were no more tears. This was the last straw. I had no more tears left to cry.

I stared at a picture of Lev and Nathaniel, my love rivals.

As the word came crumbling down on me, I pointed my scepter at the glass, and it shattered into a million pieces.

I got a strange satisfaction from it. I needed to destroy more. Thousands. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, the mascara staining my cheeks. I wiped away the stray makeup, and looked again, My hair was a mess. Ends stood straight up, and my cheeks were red from crying.

If this was what they wanted, then fine. I was going to be this way.

I stalked off to the practice room.

"Crystal Flurry."

I tapped my scepter onto the floor, and a wide range of magenta crystals enveloped the floor, and covered my scepter in an array of dark pink.

"Iris, Princess of Ephedia." I held up my pendant.

This transformation was different. My hair turned magenta, and floated up into the air, crystals in the decoration of circles surrounding it. My dress was black, and the jewel that was my heart grew an evil tinge to it.

I landed on the crystal floor, and I laughed at what I had become.

I stared out the window, the beautiful Ephedian land covering so many. Soon everything would be in disarray, and they would feel my pain. A stray tear floated down my cheek. Turning it into a crystal, I smashed it with my foot.

No more pain. No more suffering.

No more love.
