IRIS POV

Talia, who had been protesting, was now curled up into a ball, trying to excuse all the things that I had endured.

My world had been turned upside down.

Now they would see it.

They would see my pain, my grief. My suffering. They would feel it. Dawn was sobbing, and Lyna was unconscious on the floor.

Then I saw him. The traitor I had risked everything for. I flew over to Lev, who was still unconscious in Dawn's arms.

"Iris, please." he mumbled. A single tear flowed down my cheek onto his forehead. He sat straight up and looked at me.

"Iris, I-"

I stopped him.

"Lev, you KNOW me. I don't want mass destruction. I just want someone to hold. Someone who loves me. I'm so tired of giving to the world. It never gives back. Every single time, it's just another phase, or some sort of trick to make me believe that love is real." I scowled. He held me tenderly by my face.

"Iris, don't do this. You can still change. You can help us. Reverse the destruction you caused." he reached out his hand for me to take.

Tears filled my eyes. I wanted to do this. I wanted him to understand. And he did.

But my goal overcame my ability to see reason. Fear for getting hurt clouded my judgement. I pulled my hand back.

"No."

With a tilt of my head, I twirled my finger, and Lev went back to being unconscious. I backed away.

The sun shone through the tree branches, reflecting off of the dew.

"I'm sorry, Lev." I whispered.

I grabbed a second map that was in Talia's bag, and scanned it.

I flew towards the kingdom of the rocks.

Pohaku.

...

I landed on a pile of rocks. A glimmering piece of jade reflected the light, and I was suddenly blinded. I backed away, still blinking the light out.

"Iris."

"Iris."

I turned towards the sound, my crystals ready to fire at any moment.

"Who's there?"

There was no reply. I relaxed.

I climbed the rocky mountain. Slipping off my ring, I sat on the floor, exhausted and tired. My hair drooped, and the glimmer of rage in my eyes dwindled.

I set down the crown of Ephedia. I chanted a spell.

"Ateruina."

The ring and the crown combined. A flash of light sounded throughout the heavens. The echo of power reflected off of the rock walls.

When the dust settled, a crown sat in the middle of the dust. Gold with magenta jewels, the same as the ring.

I placed it on my head. A surge of power rang through my body. I shivered from the overload. Overhead, I created a large ball of power. It grew larger and larger.

I heard a large scream.

A man with a woman at his side was full of fear, his hands stuck in a fearful position, while his wife tried desperately to pull him away.
