** Danny's POV **
I stopped at the stoplight and let out a frustrated sigh. "You've gotta be fucking kidding me," I grumbled. "The state of Wisconsin has way too many fucking lights."
Julian chuckled from next to me and shook his head. "You need to chill man," he said. "You've still got to drive another 2 hours before you get to her hometown."
I rolled my eyes as we finally got on the freeway. "Good thing this is an easy drive," I replied. I glanced over at Jules. "Have you ever been to Wisconsin for fun? Or just for games?"
"Just games," he told me as he looked down at his phone. "Jame has slowly worked on me about coming to that huge music festival in Milwaukee called Summerfest."
"She said something about going this summer. I guess she was talking about seeing Luke Combs with Katie," I said. "She said I could go too, Bobby wants to go. Luke Combs is pretty awesome, but Bobby and I aren't the type to just hangout."
"What? And no invite for me?!" He joked as he shook his head. "Do you really wanna go? Tickets have probably already been sold. And Luke Combs is probably sold out, too. I don't really listen to country music, but I've heard a few of his songs."
I shrugged. "I was still thinking... I thought maybe I could pull some strings with the FGL guys. Maybe get some backstage passes... That doesn't matter anymore, though. I'm too concerned with getting my girl back at this point," I replied.
"You'll get her man," he shot back. "I mean..." He let out a sigh as he leaned into the back seat. "She sent you this. If this isn't her begging for you to come and get her, I don't know what is."
I let out a sigh. "I hope you're right. Katie said Jamie was still staying at hers. But they had dinner at her parents'. I guess they are having a bonfire at Katie's tonight," I mumbled.
"What?! Are you kidding me? In early May?" Julian asked, completely baffled. "Isn't it way too cold for that?!"
I chuckled and shook my head. "New Englanders may have thick skin... But here their skin is even thicker," I replied. "If it's above 30 here it's appropriate for them to have a fire. It's one thing Jamie always complains about. That we don't have a firepit."
The drive seemed to fly by despite all the idiot drivers on the road. However, it was quite funny when we went past Lambeau field.
Julian scoffed. "God. That place has so much history... But I hate it! I've never won in that building," he commented.
I couldn't help but agree. Neither of us had too much luck there. Jamie loved it though, it was damn near her whole childhood.
"Jamie tried to get me to go when we came for Christmas a few years ago," I replied. "But I would never hear the end of it from you and the guys!"
Once we got off the highway, I was stopped at the light. I picked my phone up and pressed the address that Katie sent me.
"It says 18 minutes," I told Jules. "18 minutes and I will have my girl back, Julian. God I can't wait to hold her again."
When we were about 5 minutes away, I had Julian text Katie to let her know. I was beginning to get anxious... Especially once we stopped at a stop sign and I could see Bobby's car.
"This is it Jules," I told him as I pulled into the driveway. "She's here. Okay... Let's go!" I threw the car into park and turned it off, practically running up the steps.
Before I could get to the door, Katie was pulling the door open. "Thank you, Katie! Thank you so much!" I gave her a big hug. "Oh my god I love you!"
"I'm glad you came. She's been moping," She said. "She's outback with Bert and Ernie... Just go through the kitchen."
I nodded as we parted. Nothing was on my mind but Jamie. I couldn't wait to get back to her. I slid the back door open and stepped out onto the back patio.
It was a nice little set up. A nice table to the side, and to the left a few chairs and a swing around a bonfire. Jamie was in the swing with her back to me, cuddling with the dogs.
"You two remind me so much of Clay and Claire," she said. "So well behaved and good cuddle buddies."
I stopped and listened.
"I miss home," she said. "I really miss home. I miss the dogs and I miss Danny. Do you guys remember him? It's been a while but he loved you. And I'd like to think he loves me... Still. Just as much as I love him."
Her voice was shaky at the end. She paused for a second, clearly crying.
This was it. This was my time to speak up. "I do," I said. "I do still love you."
I stayed there staring at her. She stilled from petting the dogs and moved a bit. The dogs jumped down as she stood up and looked back at me. "Danny?" She asked, turning to lock eyes with me. "Is it... Is... You're here!"
She looked so beautiful. She was tired, but she was so beautiful. So perfect.
"I got the package," I responded.
She began to cry even harder, running a shaky hand through her hair. I moved toward her and held my arms open to give her the choice.
"I'm so sorry," she practically screamed as she moved forward and wrapped her arms around me. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
I hugged her tighter. As tight as I could as I took in her scent, her warmth... Her. "Oh my god Jame. I've missed you so much," I cried. "I'm so sorry for not being there."
"It's not your fault," she cried as she grasped my shirt in her fist. "It's mine. It's all me. I'm so sorry. I left. I shouldn't have. I really shouldn't have."
"No... It took the two of us. I shouldn't make you feel so pressured. I understand if we can't have kids. We have other options if that's even what we still want to do. We have each other Jame, and that's all that matters," I told her.
I looked down at her, placing a hand on her cheek. Her watery eyes looked back up at me, full of that loving look I'd been craving for the past week.
"I love you," I whispered. "I love you so much."
"I love you, too," she said through tears. "I'm so sorry I left."
I dipped down, pressing my lips to hers. It felt so good. I'd missed those lips.
"I just... I have one question for you," I told her. She looked down at me and nodded as she wiped her tears.
I reached in my pocket and grabbed the one thing I wouldn't let out of my sight for the past week. Next, took a step back and got down on one knee, never breaking our eye contact.
"Jamie?" I asked, holding her wedding ring up. "Will you be my wife again?"
She held back more tears as she covered her mouth with her hands. Her response was a small nod.
I jumped up and took her hand in mine, sliding the ring onto her ring finger. "Right back where it belongs," I said before dipping down to kiss her again.
She wrapped her arms around me and held me tight.
After a few seconds there was some hooting and hollering from behind us. We pulled away from each other and looked back, Jules, Katie and Bobby were all watching us with big smiles on their faces.
"I love you," I told her again.
"Loving you is all I wanna do," she replied, that beautiful smile present on her face.
