Anyway, here's another common one I see, deciding to move away from Trigger Happy Havoc, Soudam. Now...Kazuichi and I have a very strange relationship. I have no idea why I like him so much, in fact, I dropped my plan to get a Taka cosplay in place of getting a Souda one first, and I mean, I'm not complaining. Motivation is really good to have, but when you don't know why it's a motivation, it gets weird. Just rolling with it for a while made me think that Souda might actually be a comfort character, but I'm not quite sure. Gundham on the other hand, oh I love this man. First ever comfort character. Gender euphoria 100. Even when I first saw the anime and didn't really care for these characters, I instantly liked Gundham.
But the idea of these two together just doesn't work to me. Don't get me wrong, the content around it can be adorable, but I just don't think that Souda is the type of person to develop feelings for someone he views as his romantic rival (despite there being literally no competition there). Kazuichi has a very obvious dislike towards Gundham, these feelings going both ways. Even Chris, Gundham's voice actor, has said that Gundham hates him and it would never happen.
Now, if I'm being honest, take Sonia out of the picture and the two of them could be friends...if they both dialled it back a little...but I just don't see them as romantic partners. Maybe there's something I'm missing that other people see, or I just don't like the enemies to lovers cliche, but anyway.

So...this is my comfort ship now. I gave in, I ship it. I love it. My Kazuichi kin just feels like it keeps getting higher and I love seeing him happy. Their dynamic actually really interesting and works well. They're far more similar to one another than they'd like to admit, and I stand by my previous opinion of remove Sonia and you're golden.
Gundham is an extremely understanding man and is definitely someone who has the capability to be patient with Kazuichi. Tanaka seems like the kind of person who really wants a connection with other people but has trouble with forming them, similar to Souda however he goes about it differently. There is no way you can convince me that these two didn't become friends or are friends at the very least. They're together way too much in offical content for them not to be.
