"This is divine," Eden moans over his plate as he shoves another forkful omelet that Damien had made for him and Blair. I had brought them to Damien when I told them that he was a divine cook. Eden had come for food, Blair for the eye candy that Damien was.
Eden's eyes slide over towards Leo who was sitting next to him with his arm thrown behind him, "Why don't you cook like your sister or cousin?" He demands.
Leo rolls his eyes before he and Eden go off into a small argument. Vanessa watches them, happy to watch the chaos her talent brings when compared to Leo. I turn to see if Damien is enjoying the chaos like Vanessa, but I'm surprised to see that Damien is standing with his arms crossed as he is watching Vanessa intensely as she takes a bite.
I lean back in my seat as I wait for Damien to tear his eyes away from Blair. The two had been texting each other for a few weeks as far as I know, but Blair was being extremely closed-lip about this one. Blair looks up at him as she slowly chews and neither of them say anything.
The texting must be going well, I muse to myself as I sip at my water.
My eyes slide off them and I glance around the buzzing restaurant. There were many workers and I had only seen the restaurant before at night. The dinner was bustling in the day with people sitting down at booths or coming in to place a to-go order. There were multiple workers and even Damien was wearing a stained white apron over his black pants.
My eyes slid around the bar, snagging on posters until I jolted a bit as I made eye contact. There was a man sitting by himself at the counter and he was turned towards our table. He had greasy hair and his gut was extended, saying it had been a while since he had seen the gym.
When our eyes meet, I expect him to look away, as most people do when they're caught looking. Instead, he flashes a yellow smile my way. It causes a rush of disgust to run through me as I watch as his eyes look me up and down.
I look away from him, fighting off a shiver that runs through my body. I feel his eyes stay on me. After a few seconds, I can't stop my eyes from peaking and he still is staring at me. I look away quickly, becoming uncomfortable with his attention on me. I tilt my face away from him and turn sideways in my seat.
I try to tune back into Eden and Leo's argument, finding humor in it but I could still sense him looking in this direction. I
The man who had been staring at me slowly slinks over towards our table and my attention immediately goes towards the movement. He swaggers over, a smile taking over his grotesque face. It's a mistaken amount of confidence
I pray that he walks past us, but I slightly wince when he comes to a stop near the table. At first, nobody notices him and I pretend I don't see him either until he calls out, "Hey little mama,"
For a few seconds, I close my eyes and hope that if I say nothing, he'll lose his confidence and walk back to his seat. I quietly make eye contact with Blair, widening my eyes. Blair, who was also accustomed to unwanted attention from older, slimy, men immediately picked up my vibes.
Her eyes go over my shoulder and narrow slightly. The man's voice is loud still as he calls out towards my back. "You've got a pretty smile," He starts out. I turn towards and I take a deep breath, knowing that he won't go away even if I do ignore him.
It's clear he is talking towards our table. Slowly, the gang's attention is drawn to him and we quiet down as we stare back at him. Amazingly, he doesn't back away from all the eyes staring at him, instead smiling in my direction.
Damien raises an eyebrow at him and I wince again. Discomfort swirls around in my stomach as I realize he won't leave. My lips stretch into a grimace as I mutter, "Thank you," In his direction. I hope that he'll leave when I turn back around in my seat.
