Chapter 8
Bradley was sitting on his bed, his window wide open as he was smoking the cigarette in his hand. The sun was just about to come up, making the sky look beautiful and the sight of the sky made Bradley feel warm and calm. It was Friday, the rest of the week had passed by quickly and Bradley was even kind of looking forward to going to school today.
"Hey man!"
A deep voice suddenly shouted, making Bradley stumble in shock. A sigh of relief left his lips as he saw it was just Elijah. The tall guy was smiling brightly as he waved at his friend. "Come on, we can't be late for school!" He shouted and Bradley just shook his head with a smile. He quickly burnt the cigarette and grabbed his bag and rushed down the stairs.
"Did you sleep well?" Elijah asked, ruffling his hair with a teasing grin. "Yeah, mom" Bradley said in a playful tone, making the boys break into fits of laughter. "Today is gonna be a great day, you know? I've a good feeling" Bradley gave his friend a weird look. "Okay, man. You really act like a 50 year old auntie right now" He said with a giggle. "Hey" Elijah said with a pout but Bradley just gave him a wide smile. "I'm not complaining" He said and they both laughed and tussled around the whole way to school.
As soon as they arrived, Willow, Hannah and James were already greeting them. "You know what, let's all meet up after school" Elijah suddenly said. James groaned. "No, I don't wanna party" Elijah laid his arm around James who was way shorter than him. "No, not to party. Let's just meet at the lake. You know the place we used to hang out last summer." Willow grinned widely and jumped up. "Yes! Let's do that!" She then turned to look at Bradley. "Oh and Bradley? Why don't you invite your new pretty friend" Bradley looked embarrassed at her. "W-What, who do you mean?" He asked, acting like he didn't know who she meant. Willow just grinned at him and winked. They all went inside the school and walked to their different class rooms.
Willow was actually sharing her first class with Amelia, Bradley's new pretty friend. She smiled as she saw the cute girl eagerly taking notes even though the lesson hadn't even started yet.
"Hey there" She said smiling. Amelia looked up surprised. "Hello" She said back, her voice soft and quiet. Willow sat down next to her, observing the girl next to her quietly. Willow smiled. Bradley surely chose a pretty girl. Willow knew that girls like Amelia were rare. She was beautiful and kind, but seemed innocent and closed off. She was probably really kind hearted. But something about her lovely blue eyes seemed sad.
The lesson passed by quickly and before Amelia could rush out of the classroom, Willow stopped her. "Hey, do you want to sit with me and my friends for lunch?" She asked with her charming smile on her red lips. Amelia hesitated. "I think-" Willow interrupted her. "I baked cupcakes'' She said grinning and Amelia had to smile. "Okay, see you then." They both said goodbye and Willow walked towards her next class. A grin appeared on her face as she saw Bradley sitting on the desk in the last row, his head buried in his arm and a hoodie on his head.
"Hey, sleepy head" She called out but just got a groan as a response. "I have a surprise for you, Bradley honey" She smirked. Bradley tiredly looked up. "Oh really? What is it?" Willow hummed and flicked his forehead. "You will see"
The lesson was soon over and Willow and Bradley made their way over to the cafeteria. James, Elijah and Hannah already sat on their usual table.
"Hey, Babes'' Willow called out and sat down next to Elijah. Bradley plopped down on the seat next to James, leaving an empty seat between them. "Oh, I forgot something" Willow said and rushed off quickly. She walked along the hallways and stopped as she reached her locker. Inside her locker were the freshly made cupcakes. She quickly turned around to walk back. On her way back she saw Amelia stuffing her books inside her locker. "Hey, Amelia'' Willow said and Amelia turned around with a small smile. "Hey" Willow held up the plate with cupcakes. "See? I didn't lie'' They both giggled and walked towards the cafeteria.
"Here" Willow said and placed a cupcake in front of a sleeping Bradley. The boy looked up and saw the cupcake. "Oh you got cupcakes'' He said with a wide smile. "Was that the surpri-" He suddenly stopped talking as he saw the girl behind Willow who was shyly looking at him. "Oh hey" He said, taken aback. Willow grinned and placed the rest of the cupcakes in the middle of the table and the others quickly grabbed one.
Amelia sat down hesitant next to Bradley and grabbed a cupcake shyly. "Guys, I'm officially screwed. We are writing an English test on monday and I didn't understand anything" James started talking casually. Hannah chuckled and patted his shoulder with pity. "Amelia could help you for sure. She is so smart" Willow said, smiling warmly at the shy girl. "I just study a lot, I guess" Amelia said embarrassed. James' eyes suddenly widened in excitement. "Could you help me study math too? Oh and we are writing a history test on thursday! Oh and I need your help in physics-" Bradley suddenly glared at James, making him quiet down immediately. "She is a student herself. You can study on your own. It's not that you are not smart, you are just lazy, dude" He said his voice deep and annoyed, making James pout. "You are lazy too" He mumbled and Bradley grimaced. "Did I bother an innocent girl? Nope" James pouted and gave Amelia an apologizing look. "Sorry, Amelia. I can study on my own'' Amelia just shook her head. "It's alright"
Willow suddenly burst out laughing.
"This guy is so dramatic!" She said laughing while pointing at Bradley. "Did you see the glare?!" She asked Elijah, still laughing loudly. Elijah just chuckled as he looked at the girl next to him. "Hey guys, Amelia should join us today" Hannah suddenly said with a smile on her face. Elijah nodded. "Yeah, why not" Amelia looked a little bit confused, so Hannah told her about their plan to go to the lake to spend the evening there.
"You should definitely join us" Willow said grinning, after finally calming down. Amelia looked still unsure. She looked at the others who all smiled kindly at her. "Okay" She said, with a small giggle. "You're so cute" Hannah said, making Amelia smile. "Thank you"
"But before we can drive to the lake, we still have school guys" Elijah said, clapping his hands as he stood up. As if planned, the school bell rang and James groaned annoyed. "Yeah, yeah, school"
