Day Five in Japan

Mark woke up from a dull aching in his head. He opened his eyes slowly, and found the sunlight shining in the room hurting his eyes...

The sunlight was hurting his eyes!

His heart began to race as he opened and closed his eyes repeatedly. The light was still stinging his eyes.

A smile spread over his face as he looked up to Yuta. They fell asleep on the couch after watching a movie (listening to Yuta explaining the movie in Mark's case), and were still cuddled close. He could see the shadows on his face, the shadows making the features stick out.

He turned his head and looked around the room. Although he couldn't see color, the different light levels helped him see the objects in the room.

Yuta woke up when he felt Mark wiggling around in his arms. "Baby what are you doing?" He rubbed at his eyes, trying to push the sleep away.

"Yuta I can see!" Mark said a little loudly.

Yuta's heart stopped. "What?"

"I can see! I can't see any color, but I can make out objects from the different light levels!"

Tears slowly trickled down Yuta's face. "Baby I'm so happy for you!"

"Yuta why are you crying? This is a good thing!"

"I know baby, I know." Yuta let out a small sob. "I'm just so happy. Jimin said you wouldn't get your sight back but now..."

"We should call Jimin. He should know."

"You're right baby, just let me grab-"

"I'll get it!"

Yuta laughed as Mark dove from the couch to the coffee table, grabbing Yuta's phone. He turned it on, but frowned when he couldn't see the picture, time, or date on the screen. He climbed back on the couch (on top of Yuta).

"Thanks baby," Yuta smiled and ruffled Mark's hair. "What are you pouting for? You were happy a minute ago."

"I can't see the stuff in the screen," Mark whined. He put his face into Yuta's neck.

Yuta cooed at the younger as he pulled up Jimin's contact.

"Yuta? What's going on?" Jimin's voice was slightly panicked, as Yuta only calls him for his monthly updates on Mark's condition.

Yuta decided to get straight to the point. "Mark's getting his vision back."

"He's what?"

"He woke up this morning and he can see."

"Define 'see'."

"He said he can see objects because of the different light levels."

Jimin was silent for a moment. "That's good. Mark how do your head and eyes feel?"

Mark sat for a moment, registering the feelings in his head. "My head feels fine. But my eyes hurt from the bright light."

"Bright light... like sunlight?"

"Yeah. Every time I look over by the window my eyes hurt really bad."

"Okay. Make sure you wear sunglasses when your outside. Do bright lights like LEDs hurt them?"

"I don't know. The only light I see is from the sunlight."

Yuta pondered for a moment. "I could turn the lights in the kitchen on. That way we know how sensitive his eyes are."
