I love you and I hate you and I'm losing my mind

You woke up.

Darkness surrounded you, like a coffin beneath the dirt. Your body felt weak. Heavy. Scrambling to some vague sense of consciousness, you tried to regain your thoughts - although it unfortunately seemed that you couldn't remember where you were, what brought you there or why. Releasing a dull groan, you felt around the darkness, your aching hand touching cold metal which only heightened your confusion.

Your eyes collapsed again, when was the last time you opened them? You heard voices outside, soft murmurs. You couldn't tell what they were saying, but the tone was confused yet frantic. Jerking up at the sudden noise, you pushed against the container, banging on it before throwing your body against it, sending yourself tumbling to the cold ground beneath as the bright lighting covered your vision. The air seemed still as you tensed up, turning to see you had fallen out of some locker before facing the two strangers who stared at you wordlessly.

"Where am I?" You barely whispered, one of them, a girl with blonde hair, raced over to help you up.

"I'm guessing you don't know how you got here, huh? Shuichi and I woke up here too, we heard a noise down the hall so we think there might be more people there - I'm Kaede Akamatsu by the way," The blonde girl - Kaede - flashed a nervous smile at you before turning to the skinny boy, Shuichi, you guessed, behind her. "Let's hurry then!"

As you were pulled down the hall, the pain in your head only grew, you still had no idea what you were doing here or why. At the very least, you remembered your name. Pushing through the large doors at the end of the hall, the three of you came across a large group of similarly confused people, all wearing varying types of uniforms.

"Is this everyone?" Spoke up a tall guy with sharp, purple hair and goatee.

"Fuckin took ya long enough!" Spat some well-endowed girl with untamed, blonde hair.

"Maybe they got lost..." Mumbled a short girl with short, red hair.

"But it's only down the hall..." Replied a girl with dark hair and red eyes.

"Sounds to me like someone slept in on the first day!" A boy with an annoying tone giggled, "tut, tut, tardiness is unacceptable y'know-"

"Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on here?" The crowd turned to face you, becoming aware of your sudden presence, many looked as annoyed as you were, some were scared. "Uh, does anyone know exactly how we ended up in this..... school?" You turned your attention away from their stares.

A girl with long, blue hair approached you, her hands were clasped to her chest and she seemed nervous to speak to you - likely due to your rather fiery outburst. "Well, uh, we still don't really know yet, all I remember is waking up in some kind of locker, and..... that's about it." She pushed her glasses up her nose before speaking again. "I'm Tsumugi, by the way, Tsumugi Shirogane. And I'm the ultimate cosplayer, I hope we can get along." She smiled and in that moment, you were fine.

"Well, then!" You both gasped, eyeing the stage as a weird looking creature popped out of it, it seemed to be a bear but carried the appearance of a monochrome stuffed toy - or perhaps a robot. "As much as I hate to cut this introduction short, there is simply so much we have to do in order to prepare for the show to begin!"

"What show? What the hell is going on?!" The guy with the purple beard exclaimed, the bear giggled in response.

"Forgive me, it seems I have forgotten to introduce myself, I am Monokuma!!! Your ruler, your overlord, and most importantly, your headmaster!" The crowd of confused onlookers whispered among each other and the bear took it as a sign to continue. "Of course, you may all be a little bit confused so I'll spill, you lucky kids have all been selected to partake in our very own killing game!"
