"Dream are you ready for the game today?" Sapnap says, kicking my chair as I whip around to face him.
"The real question is, are you ready?" I cross my arms and smirk. "We all saw you at practice yesterday. You weren't performing your best. Better step it up."
"Yeah yeah, whatever Dreamy poo," he rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. Then he leans out of his chair and kicks the corner of George's desk. "Are you coming to the game?"
George turns around and sees Sapnap looking at him, smiling slightly. It makes me happy to see Sapnap trying to be his friend. Although Sapnap seems like he's mad at George, he's not, he just doesn't know how to make friends easily.
"I don't think so," George shrugs at him. This makes Sapnap furrow his brows then look up at him.
"You totally should! It's the first game of the year, you can go with Karl!" Sapnap says, looking at the boy, hope in his eyes.
"Yeah! Let's go George," Karl says, smiling from a couple desks over. George nods his head and returns a slight smile. It warms my heart to see them becoming friends with George.
Suddenly loud footsteps come into the classroom. I look over, expecting to see the teacher walking in, but no, it's Alex. He is actually here? Crazy.
"Yo what's up boys!" Alex throws himself into his chair and leans back, kicking his backpack. Everyone looks at him in awe. "Don't look too surprised," he rolls his eyes then looks at George. "Who are you?"
George looks at the boy behind him with confusion, then answers. "I'm George."
"Woah he has an accent!" Alex says, laughing. "I'm Alex. Your accent is dumb."
George looks confused at this and begins to take offense. I know that Alex's way of making, and treating his own, friends is by insulting and joking around with them. I'm just hoping George would understand this and not take offense to anything.
"Excuse me?" George smiles and crosses his arms, staring at the boy behind him. They're about the same height, something we tease Alex about all the time. He is shorter than the rest of us, but now he at least has George to share that with.
"Your accent is stupid, are you from England," Alex says, putting emphasis and a fake British accent on the word England.
"Yes, I am," George looks angry, but loosens up when Alex starts laughing.
"It's nice to meet you," he says, hitting George on the shoulder. "I like this guy."
I'm glad he does.
"He's going to the game with us tonight," Karl chimes in, looking from George to Alex with a smile.
"Really?" Alex says to Karl, then he looks back to George. "Are you coming to my party later?"
"What party?" George asks, looking a little nervous. I knew from over the summer that George doesn't like parties. I wonder if this has changed, though.
"I'm throwing a huge party later, to celebrate the first football game of the season," Alex says. "You should come, it's sort of a big deal. I'm the best party thrower," Alex puts his hands behind his head and leans back in his chair, closing his eyes for a second. He expects everyone to agree with him and tell him how much they love his parties. He looks surprised when nobody does.
"Yeah George, you should come, it'll be fun," I say to him, catching his attention. I usually go to Alex's parties as he drags me there, but with George it would be much more fun.
"I don't know, I'm not a big party person," George shrugs. I guess that hasn't changed at all after his accident. I remember trying to drag George to a party once, it took me hours to convince him before he finally came with me.
