"Jack! I really hope this is urgent because I swear to Gallifrey, if it's not I will - oh...hello. Who the hell are you?"
"Jones, Ianto Jones. Torchwood." Ianto smiles politely with his hands crossed behind his back.
"Aha...interesting. I'm the doctor but I guess you already know that. Uhm...anyways where is Jack? He called me" says the tall man in the brown striped suit and...Chucks. Ianto bites his lip to stop himself from making a stupid comment. How can someone wear a suit and - he shakes his head a bit and walks up to the man.
"Uhm...I have to admit.. I was the one calling you. Because of Jack."
"Hm...please tell me he didn't he get stuck in a different century when I specifically told him not to" the man sighs and looks around.
"Uhm...nope. It's rather that...Jack ran away. He thought I was dead and left Earth after that."
"What an idiot." the doctor starts to walk around and inspect some of the technology in the hub.
Ianto follows him getting a bit annoyed "It wasn't his fault, doctor. I was gone for two months."
"Oh wow" he doesn't look up and looks at one of the monitors.
"Yeah...I know I can't blame him."
"Yeah wondeful but what do you want from me?" he turns around and looks Ianto up and down trying to figure out who this boy is.
"What do you want from me, Jones?"
Ianto sighs. He has not imagined that this man can't see the obvious "Wow I thought you've already figured that out"

"You want me to find him or what?"
The Welshman nods with a small smile. "Yes. Please. I want him back."
The doctor laughs "Jones, it's almost impossible to find a strayer like him in this universe. And besides...I'm sure he'll come back. I dropped him off here the last time. I mean he's the leader of this...organization" he says it in a special tone.

"You really don't get it do you? I love him. And he loves me. And after I died he couldn't bear being here and went. Because of the pain in his heart. He won't come back do you get that!?" a little flame of anger comes up in Ianto's chest. Jack has always spoken highly of this man and now as he's here he seems so...he can't tell. But suddenly the doctor stops walking around and turns fully to Ianto to face him. For a moment the timelord doesn't say anything and sighs.
"So it was you"
"What?"
"The reason he came back. He said something to me the last time. And now I understand" he looks at the floor a bit lost in thoughts.
"Wh-what was it?" Ianto comes closer and a little hope flames up in his chest. "What did he say?"
"Uh...he said...he said he came back here. Because he had someone special here. Someone really special. One under a billion he said.... I had someone like that too. Rose. And he said..." he sighs and looks at the floor "He said 'Doctor. I found someone. Someone who is like Rose to you. And he's like that to me' but I.. I didn't know that -"
"That that was me?"
The doctor nods and runs with one hand over his face. "And now what? Look...I'm a busy man and I can't spend too much time on finding Jack....and I am sorry"

Ianto sighs and turns away. He kicks a bucket that's standing at the floor and tries to keep it together but he can't.
"If you knew! It's only him. It's just him. And I miss him. Every day I wake up and turn to the side hoping to see him sleeping right next to me all there is are empty and cold sheets. There's nothing doctor! There's nothing left in my life except from the hope that this man will come back one day. That he'll come back with one of his stupid comments and stand behind me and when I turn around he'd kiss me. Yes, he would. But I can't hope for this now....and all I hoped for was that you might be a help."
The doctor swallows hard and doesn't know what to say except from the fact that he notices how much love this man has. And it's impressive. And heartbreaking.

"I...wow I didn't know that he'd...he'd find someone like you."
Ianto doesn't react to that and looks at the floor. In a quiet tone he mumbles "Jack always spoke highly of you. He adored you."
Now it's the doctor who can't answer but he doesn't have to as Ianto takes it over for him.
"Where were you. Two months ago? When it happened."
"What happened?" he sounds a bit more unsure and his tone is softer.
"It was the 456. They brought all children of the planet under their control. On the fourth day I died in Jack's arms but I don't want to talk about it. Apparently Jack managed to save them and that's all that counts." Ianto tries to hide a tear that runs down his cheek and wipes it away.
"Yeah...uh...sorry. I was...busy"
"But you're the doctor. He always counted on you. And now you come with this smile and suit and your 'I swear to Gallifrey if it's not an emergency...' thing."

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know.. I.."
he sighs and puts one hand on Ianto's shoulder. "Ianto, I really wish I could help you, yes I do. I know how it is when two lovers are separated. I know that feeling to well...Rose, a girl I really loved is stuck in a parallel universe...and there's no way to go to her" the doctor swallows hard again and puts his hands in his pockets.
"I am really sorry for that, doctor. But Jack is still in this universe. I can still find him can't I, Doctor?"
"Well, you can try but I can't promise that I am a great help in finding him. But I'll keep my eyes open and send him back here when I see him again."

Ianto's face drops a bit and he looks away in disappointment. This was an emergency but apparently the doctor was not much of a help. He tries to hide the upcoming tears in his eyes and sits down at the couch to bury his head in his hands. The thought of Jack being all alone anywhere in time and space just running away almost breaks his heart. The Captain would run away as far as he can from this planet and he had no way to follow him...unless
"Doctor? What if I...come with you? As a companion or something.."
The man looks ianto up and down
"Ianto I'm sorry but..Can't do that. You have other plans than I have and I can't risk losing you. Jack would kill me"
"But can't you at least take me with you and...uh I don't know drop me somewhere off? I can look for Jack myself...I think."
The doctor sighs. He knows that Ianto would apparently do anything for Jack. Even wandering through space just to find his lover again. This love had already convinced him. He was not always the kindest in the past, he left him behind and he never really visited him. Maybe he could make at least this thing right.
"Or maybe fix this VM thing.." the Welshman continues"
"I will. I will do at least that."
A surprised smile appears on Ianto's face and he looks up at him.
"W-would you really?"
"Yeah. The love you share must be very special...and it's worth fighting for it. I will help you" he smiles

For a moment Ianto doesn't know what to say so all he can is walking up to the timelord and hug him tightly while he whispers a little "Thank you"
"Of course. And now for the love of Gallifrey get your ass in my ship and let's go. Woop woop!"
Ianto laughs and heads to the tardis. He leaves a voice message at Gwen's mailbox because he doesn't want to say goodbye in person. It would be too heartbreaking for both of them. He slides his phone back in his pocket and finally looks up
"Oh wow this is -"
"I know right? Bigger from the inside" the doctor smiles proudly.
"Uh what? No..no don't be silly Jack already told me about that. I wanted to say what a mess this place it. Man when did you tidy up the last time?"
"Don't get rude, Ianto Jones, or I'll send you right back home" but he has to chuckle. This Welshman was something special indeed
"That's so Welsh. You show them something special and all they do is picking out the bad parts"
"Yep, that's me. What do you think why the hub is so tidy hm?" Ianto smirks a bit.
"I really see why Jack loves you. Because you are the one who keeps him from going insane and drowning in his mess."
"Maybe...but he's the one who saved me out of my mess. And now it's time I get him out of his"
