The smell when we walk through the hospital doors bring back too many bad memories.

James asks the receptionist where the doctor we are seeing will be. She walks us to a weird desk area which I never even knew existed. She brings seats over for us while we wait for the doctor to turn up.

Doctor Matthews. Not the doctor James was on the phone to. He walks closer to us, using abnormally big strides. His hair is slicked back, using gel, which probably makes his brown hair seem darker.

"Hello, I am Doctor Matthews." He says, as he takes a seat in front of us all. "I am here to explain to you all what is wrong with Jai Brooks. Okay, to start off with, Jai did not get shot near his head, as the shots were underneath his heart, at his stomach. This makes it difficult for us to understand why he is suffering brain damage. We have come to a conclusion, perhaps a wrong one, we still need to research more, that a vain or nerve very important to the brain has been broken or badly damaged by the bullet."

"So you've brought us here and you don't even know what's wrong with him?" Skip asks, impatiently.

"Of course we know what's wrong with him. We just are not sure how that has affected him. We know what has happened, just not how it happened." He pauses. "So would you like the doctor explanation, or the easy to understand explanation?"

"Easy to understand would be best please," I tell him.

"Okay, Jai has damaged a nerve, or vain, which leads to the speech part of the brain. That is why, when you spoke to him, he took a while to reply. He knows what he wants to say, it's trying to come out, but since the nerve is damaged, it takes a long time to get to the voice box, where the speech takes place."

"Is he going to be like this forever?" Luke asks.

"Chances are, yes. But it will get better. He will still be hesitant before he speaks, but no where near as bad as it is at the moment." He pauses, looking at us individually for a few seconds. "If you don't have any questions, then feel free to go and see Jai. Thank you for coming in," he says, and gets up.

We follow Beau to Jai's room. It feels like so long since we seen him, but in reality it must've only been about 5 days.

Just as we are all about to go in together, a nurse rushes to is and tells us that only three can go in at a time. I volunteer to go last, since I mean less to Jai. Luke says he'll go with me, but Skip says Beau and Luke should go first, since they are brothers.

So James, Skip and I sit in the waiting room for a long ten minutes before they come out again. Luke smiles and whispers to me that there's an improvement in Jai speech. He seems so relieved.

So this is it. Time to see what's up with Jai.

I walk through the door after Skip and James. Jai looks good. Well, good considering what has happened.

He smiles as soon as he sees us, and we all hug him, me going last. There's three seats, and we take them up.

James speaks first, "Hey bro, how are you feeling?"

I can see Jai's lips moving, trying to get the words out. It's about 10 seconds before he can actually get out, "I am fine."

We have a pretty basic conversation, none of us want Jai getting frustrated or embarrassed about his speech problems. I know I would be frustrated if I couldn't speak well.

I hug Jai before I leave him, not knowing when I'll see him next. The doctor never said we couldn't see Jai for a certain time, so we are assuming we can visit when ever we want, in visiting times of course.

Today I got a call from the police, asking when I can come in for questioning. I'm going later this afternoon, I need to get it over with.

Right now, me and Luke are just laying on his bed, watching Teen Wolf.

Soon I'll have to get ready, to go and tell the police everything I know. I'm dreading it. Apparently there's "no reason to be worried," about it. Of course I'm fucking shitting it, the guy tried to kill one of us. The more information I tell the police, the easier it makes it for them to find him, or her. Unfortunately, I don't know much, I didn't see barely any of it, so my time with the police won't make a difference to them.

When I'm ready to leave, just having had a quick shower and throwing on some jeans, Luke offers to drive me, so we leave together. During the drive, we don't talk about much other than what I'm going to tell them. Me and Luke know almost exactly the same about the incident, so it will be a struggle for the police. It just all happened so fast.

The police station is bigger than I excepted. I've never actually been in one before, so all I know is what they are like in the movies, which is usually just basic stuff.

There's even a reception area. The man there, Simon, asks us why we are here. We explain the questioning situation and he tells us to take a seat while he gets an officer.

We are waiting for about 10 minutes before someone finally comes.

"Hello, I'm PC Robinson, I believe you are here make a statement about the shooting? Come with me," he says, and leads me to a small room with a table, four chairs and a audio recorder. The wall had tinted glass on it, the reason for it obvious, which makes me feel slightly uncomfortable.

"So, if you would just like to have a seat over there." PC Robinson, asks me, gesturing to the seat next to the wall, on the side closest to the door.

Slowly, I walk over and sit down. I can see PC Robinson watching me from the corner of my eye, and that makes me feel uncomfortable. Once I've sat down, another man walks into the room. PC Robinson introduces him as PC Ben.

"Freya, don't look so scared!" Robinson laughs. "You've done nothing wrong."

"Sorry, it's just a very intimidating situation," I smile, trying to relax.

"Well, are you okay to just jump right in?" PC Ben asks me, laughing.

"Sure, go for it," I agree, wanting this over and done with.

"Okay, so can you tell us what you were doing on the day of the incident?"

"Well me and Luke were shopping, in a furniture shop. He showed me this beautiful mirror, and I asked him if he was buying it for his house. He told me no, and said that he would be buying it for our house together, so basically he asked me to move in with him." I explain.

"Oh that's lovely!" PC Ben says, and I can tell he means it genuinely. "I take it you said yes?"

"Yeah, we were going to be getting a flat together."

Robinson smiles, then continues with the questions. "So what happened after this?"

"We were walking to the car, when we met Jai, and then Jai came with us, to get a lift back. We were all it's speaking and then suddenly I heard the gun shot and I looked over to Luke and Jai first and saw Jai on the flood, blood flooding around him. I looked to the direction of the noise but I couldn't really see anything. Everything was a blur because all I was focusing on was calling an ambulance and putting something on Jai's wound to stop the bleeding." I honestly reply.

"So you're sure when you looked you never saw anyone?"

"Well I saw people, but no one that would have done it. They were just people walking by, not with a gun or anything." I say, unsure of how to put my answer.

"Okay that's fine then, is there anything else you would like to add?" PC Ben asks.

"I don't think so, if I remember anything else I will come back, thank you." I say, waiting for them to dismiss me before getting up.

"Great, thank you! We wish you all the best for you and Luke, and also hope Jai recovers." PC Robinson says, half probably because he has to, and half through genuine concern.
