JR Labs looks much more daunting up close in person than it did on Seohee's low-budget blueprints. The building is only four floors (above ground), but it looks way bigger than that.
"What do you think will happen if the passcodes don't work?" Jimin asks, leaning forward in his seat in the back to look out the front window. He leans his elbow on your armrest.
Jungkook is driving the car slowly along a dirt path through the trees, nearing the fence that stands guard around JR Labs. It stands about ten feet tall, with danger signs posted along it every few feet to warn trespassers of the high voltage.
"Uh, the alarms will go off," you answer. "And we'll have to drive away before someone catches us."
"Well I know that," Jimin says. Jungkook pulls the car to a slow stop. "But like, what'll we do next? If we can't get in, we can't get in."
You purse your lips. You hope that won't happen.
Outside the windshield now, in front of you, is the front gate. As Seohee said, there is an empty security shack to the right of the gate and a tiny compartment to the left where the pin pad and ID scanner should be.
"Alright," you say. You open the car door and put one leg out. "Cross your fingers." You get out and close the door behind you, then feel around your pockets for the slip of paper Seohee gave you with the codes on it.
When you reach the compartment next to the gate, paper in hand, you use Seohee's keys- she colored them with markers so you knew which one to use- to unlock it and open the little door.
Inside is the ID scanner, which is a laser scanner underneath a small screen. You push the on button and the screen lights up, requesting your ID. You hold Seohee's ID- attached to the keychain- up in front of the scanner. It beeps and the screen changes to a PIN pad.
You unfold the crumbled up paper in your other hand to look at the PINs.
