Okay I know I said I was gonna update earlier than this but when I was editing I changed some things and ended up making the entire end of the chapter completely different. Sorry I'm late, enjoy!

"Wait but..." Jungkook stares at the blankets. "How long ago did you see my father? Wouldn't he have done something by now if he saw your powers that long ago?"

"I don't know. Maybe he was waiting for something."

"And... you're sure it was my father?"

You nod. "It was forever ago, but I remember it clearly."

"He's had a lot of time to research you then."

"And... if you're mom wasn't lying-"

"She wouldn't lie like that."

"-right, well anyway, if what she said was true, maybe your father did spend that time researching other people with powers."

"You believe her?" Jungkook asks. You shake your head. "I don't know what to believe. I don't think there are other people like me. But... what if there are?"

"When mom told us what my father said, it kind of sounded like he researched other people but found out that you're more powerful. Maybe, if other people have powers, they're just not dangerous ones like fire."

You shrug. "Maybe... but if there are more people like me, that means more demons escaped from hell, I guess. That just... doesn't make sense to me. Mine got out purely by luck."

Jungkook takes a moment to think before he answers. He chews on his lower lip, and his right hand rubs at the bandages on his left arm. You try to look closely at the tattoos there on his fingers, but the room is too dark. You've never gotten a good look at them. You wonder what they mean.

"If demons exist..." Jungkook murmurs. "What if that means other things exist?"

"Like...?"

"Like monsters and stuff."

"I dunno. I don't think that's real. My demon probably would have told me."

"Have you talked to your demon recently?"

You look down at the blankets. "No." A frown settles over your face. "I actually kind of miss him. He used to come talk to me in my worst times. Just to cheer me up by telling me stuff or whatever. We have... a funny relationship."

"So you're like, friends with him?"

"I guess. The last time he talked to me though was... maybe last year? It's been forever."

"Heh, imagine the stuff he could tell you now. The one time you actually don't know what's happening and he either can't or won't come out."

You purse your lips. Jungkook lays back down on the mattress, elbow propped against the pillow to hold his head up. "Come on," he says quietly, patting the spot next to him. "We can think about this tomorrow okay? You look so sleepy."

You nod half-heartedly and lay back onto the pillow. It's so comfy. When you're laying down like this, on your right side, it doesn't put any pressure on your bad hip, which makes it easier not to feel the pain. You can sleep nicer this way.

It throbs a little.

"We're going to Yoongi's tomorrow," you murmur, staring up at Jungkook. He nods and lays his head down in front of yours. "Mmhmm," he hums. "And then we have to sneak into my parents' labs."

"Are you still nervous about that?"

"Somehow, no. We're searching for a way to get out of this mess. I'm actually kind of excited. Hopeful. I wanna find something that can help."
