6 months later...

I went go to see Hannibal every week and Alyssa's family came over a few months back and we all talked and talked. The conversation did come up about my family and I just talked about Clarice, Will, Jack, Hannibal and mother but I didn't say much about their death or sanity. They were great people and I was so happy and I was accepted as one of them, made me feel like I really do now have a family - who is still alive. We discovered the baby was a boy and Me and Alyssa decided to name him Vinnie, I did think or naming him Will but I want my baby to grow up without a shadow of my past.

I was in the nursery, I looked down into the crib and saw all the toys and blankets all neatly together in a pile, waiting to be occupied by a newborn. I felt arms wrap around my body and a body pressed against my back.
"I packed your bags" Alyssa whispered in my ear.
"Thank you..." I replied as I stared down into the crib.
"Let's go"
We were informed to go to the hospital so they could watch me since I was due soon.

A week later...

I was on a drip, and so weak I couldn't hold my baby and it was rather heart breaking. I couldn't even eat properly so I had to have foods like soup, a boring and plain meal especially without bread. I looked around the room and saw Alyssa sat beside me with baby Vinnie in her hands, cradling him. He was a small and cute baby, he was wearing a cute onesie gifted by Alyssa's mother and it a little baggy on him but he'll surely grow into it. Vinnie yawned and then cuddled close to Alyssa's body. I smiled and Alyssa looked up at me, in awe.
"You're a natural" I mumbled to her, weak and on strong drugs and I couldn't even have my eyes open for too long.
"I've held many babies before. Cousins, friends babies, just some sweet strangers baby helping the mum with something, they all weren't as small as Vinnie though" Alyssa informed me. I closed my eyes and adjusted my position in this stale hospital bed.
"My dad hasn't seen him yet" I replied, with my eyes closed and slowly drifting to sleep.
"...I can go" she suggested to me. I yawned and winced in pain slightly since I moved my body a little too quickly.
"Just be...." I then fell into my slumber.

Alyssa's POV

Dr. Chilton went through many rules and it made me get cold feet slightly but I shoved it aside. He guided me down the hallway and entered the room with me for a little while so I could be comfortable. Dr. Chilton opened the door for me to enter Dr. Lecter's room and I hesitantly entered, holding baby Vinnie in my arms. I smiled at Dr. Chilton and he smiled back and shut the door once I entered. I saw Dr. Lecter reading a book at the desk and he looked up and stared at me for a few moments before smiling. I've met him before, but this was the first time without Mischa by my side and I was holding his grandson.
"Dr. Lecter, this is Alyssa Shores." Dr. Chilton introduced me - did he forget I met Hannibal before?
"We've met, Frederick." Hannibal reminded dr. Chilton. My cheeks flushed red a little and I wasn't the type to be shy, I normally put myself out there and be all loud and talkative but I didn't know what to say.
"Where is mischa?" He asked me. I looked down at Vinnie in my arms and I walked towards the glass. Hannibal stood up and walked over to the glass. I showed him sleeping Vinnie and he stared down in awe. He smiled and then Vinnie made a baby noise and I chuckled.
"Is Mischa okay?" He asked me.
"Oh.. she's in recovery, getting better everyday but its just slow" I informed Hannibal. Hannibal looked away from Vinnie and stared at Dr. Chilton who was standing some distance away with his arms in front of him.
"May I hold my grandchild?" He asked him. I bit my bottom lip, knowing I would have to enter his cage.
"Without the mother's supervision?" Frederick replied rather snarky.
"His mother is right here" Hannibal snapped back, but in his always polite tone. Frederick sighed under his breath and he walked towards the cell door.
"Don't try anything" Frederick snarled. Dr. Lecter smiled at me and I nervously smiled back. Frederick opened the door and stared at Hannibal intently to make sure he wouldn't attempt to escape. I walked into the cell and approached Hannibal - my soon to be father in law and that made me uncomfortable, knowing all the horrible acts he's done - I handed him over Vinnie carefully. Hannibal knew how to hold a baby, he supported Vinnie's head and body and cradled him in his arms. I stepped back a little and I watched him hold his grandchild delicately. Hannibal began to slowly walk over to his bed and he sat down and cradled Vinnie. I slowly walked over to his desk and sat down there, I looked to see what he was reading and it was a foreign book.
"What is this book about?" I asked him, I looked back over to him to see Vinnie holding Hannibal's pinkie and Hannibal stared in awe.
"History" Hannibal answered.
"World war?" I asked.
"Black Plague" he replied. "My turn to ask a question, how's the wedding planning coming along?" He asked me. I looked up and him and back down at Vinnie. Vinnie was stretching and yawning in Hannibal's arms.
"We haven't thought about it. We've been too busy making Vinnie's nursery and looking after Mischa" I answered him, truthfully. We didn't have much time to plan a wedding and definitely won't have any time to plan once mischa is free to leave the hospital.
"I am rather glad mischa met someone like you" he murmured under his breath. I raised an eyebrow and he looked up at me, smiling.
"Huh?" I just spoke back.
"Mischa hasn't had much happiness in her life, but she seems happy to have you. I'm happy she has you" he informed me. I smiled a little and he smiled back at me. Vinnie started to cry and I stood up to take him off Hannibal.
"He's probably just hungry" I assured Hannibal. He stood up and handed me over Vinnie carefully and adjusted my arm when I held Vinnie.
"Please look after mischa for me" he begged me. I looked up at him as I rocked crying Vinnie. He seemed sad that he couldn't see his daughter and discovered she's in a slow and painful recovery.
"Of course I will" I replied. He smiled at me and I left his cell, Frederick slammed the cell door shut the second I got out and I went straight back to the hospital with Vinnie.
