Lottie's P.O.V

Ellie and Alia made me go to the party. I would've rather stayed in my dorm and listened to music or do anything other than going there and have to put up an act. So, I just sat at a table in my beautiful yellow dress and mask. I thought back to when things were so much simpler. When Ollie and I were best friends when there was no Leviathan to worry about when I didn't have to put up an act to look like a perfect princess. I went through all of the pictures I had with my old friends. Of course, there was Ellie, Binah, Anastacia, Alia, Mila, and I guess Jamie. I wish I could just relax. I looked around and spotted Edmund from the other side of the gym. He was coming over. Ughh I hated him he was so obnoxious and no matter how much I tried to avoid him he always seemed to find me. I tried to look away, acting like I didn't see him. Then, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked to see a boy in green and blue.

"Hey, do you want to dance with me?" He asked. I looked and saw Edmund sneering.

"Sure." He held his hand out for me just like a prince.

We started dancing just as the next song started. I put my hand on his shoulder and put his hand on my waist. He looked uncomfortable so I decided to say something.

"By the way, thanks for saving me. Edmund was about to come over and dance with me. I really hate that guy."

"Anytime." He said smirking.

This guy was much more of a prince than Edmund. I was actually kind of happy to be dancing with him even if he was a stranger.

He whispered in my ear, "Here's a little secret... I hate him too." Then he winked at me and I tried to contain my laugh.

I wished I could see his face. I wanted so desperately to know who he was. It was too dark but under the disco light, I could catch a glimpse of him.

"What's your name?" I asked wanting to know who my knight in shining armor was.

"Umm... you can call me Mystery Man."

"Okay, you can call me Lottie."

"Come with me." He said, grabbing my hand.

I followed him outside where we walked and talked in the cold air. He was so sweet and such a gentleman. When I was cold he side-hugged me and we talked for about half an hour. I was careful not to let it out that I was a portman.

He took me to the rose garden where there was a bench near the river. I couldn't stop smiling for some reason and I kept playing with my hair.

"Close your eyes and don't open them until I tell you to."

"What? Why?" I asked.

"Just trust me." I really hoped I wasn't making a mistake, I took a deep breath.

"Okay, I trust you."

I closed my eyes and waited for a second. Then he leaned close to me and kissed me. As he kissed me I felt myself relax and I kissed him back. He pulled away too soon and I waited for him to tell me to open my eyes.

"Okay, you can open your eyes now."

I slowly opened my eyes and smiled. I hugged him and he wrapped his arms around me. But then I got sucked back into reality. I should've been with Ellie making sure that she was okay. Last time, the punch was spiked and luckily Ellie didn't drink it. And Jamie would be so mad at me if I hadn't been there if something bad happened. I let go of Mystery Man and looked to the gym.

"I have to go now."

"What happened?"

"I just have to make sure a friend is okay."

He smiled, "That's just the great friend and amazing person you are."

I was about to walk away when a sudden impulse hit me and I turned around and kissed him.

"Who knows maybe I'll see you again Mystery Man," I said truly hoping that I would see him again.

I walked to the gym where I saw Ellie laughing. I looked around for Mystery Man but I couldn't find him. Then Edmund took my hand and spun me around and pulled me against him. I tore my hands away from him.

"What's wrong princess?" Edmund said threateningly.

"Stay away from me Edmund."

He held my wrist tightly, "Are you sure you want to do that?"

I pressed my nails into his arm and he let go.

"Yeah, I am." I turned around and thought I saw a glimpse of Mystery Man smiling at me.
