(A/N: Sorry it took absolutely forever to get this chapter up, I've been working on another one of my projects, 'Flaming Cold'. It should be up now, if any of you want to read it! Hopefully I can manage a dual posting schedule. Thanks for reading!)
After lunch, you arrived at the training room. It seemed everyone was there. Except for Bruce. That was probably for the best though.
"Glad you finally made it Fate-y. Wait, Fate- luck- Leprechaun! I finally found your new name!" Tony shouted from across the room.
"Is he gonna call me that the entire time we're doing this?" You ask the general audience.
"He's gonna call you that for the rest of eternity." Nat said, as she continued punching the non-existent life out of the punching bag. She finally rested though, and came over to watch your performance. Yet another pair of eyes to watch your doom.
"Alright, here's the verdict. We've come up with a few tests to test the limits of your abilities, and hopefully to prevent anything unexpected from happening. What charge are you on?" Steve interrupted your brood-fest, gesturing to the table of gizmos behind him.
"About an hour or so." You weren't going to tell him about missing Peter's goodbye, that seemed a little too personal.
"Okay. Tony, bring out the first test." He gestured to the tincan, and he reappeared holding a small cube. That seemed to resemble a rubix cube quite a lot.
"A rubix cube?"
"Yeah. J.A.R.V.I.S. changed the colors to the hardest pattern, and we're going to see how you do."
"Fine." You start working on the puzzle. Thing is, this was the worst test they could've come up with. Not only was it smack dab in the middle of your power's capabilities, Peter was obsessed with them a few years back. Of course, 13 year old Peter forced you to learn how to do it, and everything unraveled from there. You could now solve one of them blindfolded, with a running record of thirty seven seconds. Your best non-blindfolded score was about eleven seconds.
So this was a piece of cake.
"How did you do that?" Clint asked, as inspected the newly solved cube. Probably around fifteen seconds. It wasn't bad.
"Practice. Obviously none of you have ever seen Peter's collection of them. He used to bug me so much to show him how to solve them that fast. Of course this was before he knew I had powers..."
"Huh. I thought that'd be easy... but this is a whole new level. Bruce used to hold the running record- who wants to break the news?" Tony asked around, while heading back to the counter of gizmos. He picked a small, soccer ball looking thing. "This new trinket is the S.I. Test. Meant for highschoolers, to test if they're eligible to even apply for the Stark Internship. Peter solved this in under two minutes. The running record."
He tossed you the multicolored ball. "But what do I do with it?"
"You gotta figure it out. Your time starts in 5, 4, 3, 2- Go!"
You toss the ball in your hands a few times, looking over all the sides. You eventually find a little slip in the casing. Barely enough for a bobby pin. You mutter the chances under your breath, and twist the cap with all your might.
It popped open, revealing several little switches. You scan the levers' labels quickly, deciding on the only lever with a label. It seemed as if the rest of them did nothing.
You flip on the 'on' lever.
Immediately, the ball in your hands instantly starts glowing. Like a light switch.
"Is this a lamp?"
"No- not entirely- it's more of..." Tony stumbles over his words, still in shock from your new record. Seems like you were setting up a lot of records today. "Yeah. It's a lamp."
"Let's test some of your other abilities. Where's Clint?"
"Here's your circus clown!" He said, reappearing suddenly with the equivalent of a cart full of balloons. There were alot of balloons.
"Balloons?"
"Yeah. Can you make them pop without touching them?"
"One hundred percent three of Clint's balloons with pop now." You cross your arms, already bored.
Three popped, surprising Clint.
This was ridiculously easy.
"Can you do it without saying anything?"
You stare at the balloons. It's been awhile since you've needed to do this, if you've ever actually done it before.
Pop.
Pop.
Pop. Pop.
Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop.
"I'd say that worked."
"Why are balloons so loud???" Clint whines, before finally coming to his senses and taking his hearing aids out.
"Can you pop them on a signal? Like a snap?"
You snap, hear a crippling sound, before the balloon pops afterwards. As if the balloon was mimicking your finger motions, folding in on itself before popping open.
"Snap... crackle... pop! Sounds like a cereal motto." Tony says, staring into space. Of course, there is no space, he's just zoning out.
"Why cereal?" Nat asked.
"I don't know. But I think I just witnessed the fourth dimension."
"Uh-huh. Sure. Y/N, can you stand over there; Tony, can you start the simulation?" Steve dishes out instructions, as you start walking towards the starting position.
Simulation? As in a training simulation? The last power they had to test were the arrows...
Tony pulled the lever, as the room around you started whirrling to life. The walls, floor, and ceiling all spun, shifted, and vibrated as panels started rising.
It was an obstacle course.
You were absolutely doomed.
(A/N: Next chapter is going to be a lot longer, don't worry. Thanks for understanding!)
