It was night, and Evie was sitting in the nursery rocking in the rocking chair as she fed Ember. She was trying not to fall asleep as she rocked back and forth. It was storming outside, and the thunder and lightening was keeping Ember awake, so Evie was trying to keep her calm while feeding her, hoping it would help her fall back asleep.

But all of a sudden, Evie heard a noise come from outside causing her to snap up. She started breathing heavily. Was something out there? It could be just some objects moving around from all the wind in the storm. But something didn't feel right to Evie.

"Henry?" She called for her husband.

Henry came into the nursery after hearing his wife call for him. "What is it, Eve?" He asked.

"I heard something outside." She told him.

"It was probably just thunder. Don't worry." He tried telling her.

"Can you check it out for me?" She asked.

"Evie, it's storming out there! It's like pouring down rain!"

"Baby, please! I won't be able to fall asleep not knowing if something is out there or not." Evie told him.

Henry sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Ok, I'll be right back." He said before he went to go get his shoes on and went outside.

He grabbed his flashlight, and went outside in the storm looking to see if he could see anything. He went to the side of the house, and he saw the trash can had fallen over. Probably from the wind. So he went to go put it back up, but as he approached the can, he saw shoe prints around it heading to the back of the house. He immediately got a bad feeling sink down in his gut. He then followed the prints towards the back of the house, and when he did, he saw someone wearing a hoodie trying to get inside the back door.

"Hey! Get away from there!" Henry yelled causing whoever it was to look at him.

The hooded person ran straight for Henry, and the two of them started a fist fight, but whoever it was punched Henry in his jaw, catching him off guard and they flipped him on his back before they ran away back to the front of the house. Henry quickly got back on his feet and ran after the hooded person. But it was too late, since he left the front door unlocked the hooded person was able to get inside and lock him out. Henry tried desperately to get inside, but he just couldn't. He knew he had to find someway to get in before whoever was wearing the hoodie got to Evie and Ember, which wouldn't take long.

Evie was still in the nursery with Ember. But had finished feeding her and got her back to sleep. So she stood up and put Ember down in her crib. She heard the front door close from downstairs, so she quietly left the nursery and went downstairs.

"Hey babe. Did you find what caused the noise?" She asked. But she didn't see Henry anyway downstairs. "Henry? Honey, where are you?"

But all of a sudden she felt someone put their hand over her mouth and hold her arms forcefully behind her back. She tried kicking and squirming to get out of their grip but it was no use they were too strong.

"Don't fight. It won't work." Someone with a disguised voice said from behind her.

Evie continued to fight until she escaped from the person's grip. She gasped when she was a someone wearing a hoodie with the hood pulled over their face so she couldn't see who it was. "Who are you?" She asked.

"No one of importance." They said trying to get Evie. But Evie tried fighting them off, throwing objects at this hooded person in her home, but she kept missing. Whoever the person was, was very good at dodging objects. And it was then that Ember started crying from all the noise.

Evie's eyes widened as she was afraid the hooded person was after Ember. She saw them slightly turn their head in the direction of the stairs. "No! Don't you dare hurt my baby!" Evie yelled running over to the hooded person before she started punching them and kicking them.  But the hooded person punched her back harder and threw her against the couch. They then approached Evie who was on the floor. "No please! Don't hurt the baby, do what you want with me but don't hurt the baby!"

The hooded person only ignored her as they grabbed Evie by her neck and lifted her off the floor. But all of a sudden, Henry came smashing through the window and lunged for the hooded person, knocking them both to the ground. He started punching the person everywhere he could before they knocked Henry out cold and ran out the front door again.

"Henry!" Evie yelled running towards her husband. She rolled him over on his back, and she saw he had a bruise on his jaw with small cuts on his face, probably from jumping through a glass window. "Henry, baby, wake up."

She patted his cheek lightly before he slowly opened his eyes. "Evie?" He whispered.

Evie sighed in relief as she kissed him. "Oh thank goodness you're alright." She told him.

"They didn't hurt you, did they?" He asked.

"No, I'm okay. I'm a little bruised but I'll be fine." Evie replied.

"What about Ember? Did they get Ember?"

Evie's eyes widened as she remembered about Ember who was still crying in the nursery. She ran up the stairs and to her crying daughter. Evie picked her up and bounced her close to her chest. "It's okay sweetheart. Mommy's here now." She whispered.

Henry came into the nursery and let out a sigh of relief as he went over to Evie and wrapped his arms around his wife and daughter. "I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you."

"No, you did. Without you, that person they might have gotten to Ember once they were through with me." Evie said.

"I'm just so glad you both are alright." He said.

Evie's gaze averted back to the bruise on his jaw. "We have to get some ice on that bruise." She said as she went down to the kitchen and got a bag of frozen vegetables to put on his jaw.

"I don't think either of us are going to be able to sleep tonight." He said.

"No, probably not. But I know there is no way I'm sleeping without Ember right by me." Evie replied looking down at her daughter who had had fallen back asleep on her.

Henry nodded his head at her. He knew how Evie was. Someone was out to hurt his family. He knew he had to do everything in his power to protect and make sure no one ever hurt them.
