Jake (JK) Jungwon (JW) NI-KI (NK) Sunoo (SN)
<The next week during sports and club formation>
<Jungwon graduated from middle school to high school, NI-KI transferred from Japan, and it's the second year for Sunoo.>
<Jake was excited, he had already figured out what clubs he wanted to join. Jake was popular in his old school back in Australia, but he needed to start over again at the new school in Seoul.
Although he was invited to join the idol boys the first day, he was not sure they had common interests and it didn't seem like they were into any school clubs.>
<At Academic Decathlon>
Coach: Welcome boys, I'm from Australia, who led our sister school to world victory last year. Along with Jake, we're here to do the same for this school this year.
We have the region, national, and then world. We will need everyone to put in at least 4 hours a week to study material to prep for the competition. Do you want to say a few words, Jake?
JK: Thanks coach. I know it will be hard, but it will also be fun. You will learn a lot and I hope we can make new friends and study well together to help each other out. I'm excited to be here and I look forward to meeting you guys. Thanks.
<At Leadership>
JK: Hi, I'm Jake. So what do you think? Interested?
JW: Hi, I'm Jungwon. Looks interesting enough? It'll help me to get into a good university and my career path. I also have Taekwondo.
JK: Yeah I was thinking the same, can't hurt. Leadership skills will definitely help in our careers. I also have academic decathlon and soccer.
JW: Really, you must be smart. That must be a lot of studying.
JK: Yeah it's at least 4 hours a week of studying. I help lead our sister school in Australia to victory last year, and I was asked to join this school to do the same.
JW: Really, then our school has a good shot at it. JK: I hope so. It's a group effort.
<At Soccer>
JK: Hi, I'm Jake. You're pretty good with the ball. But you look really young.
NK: Hi, I'm NI-KI. I'm new from Japan, so I don't know too many people.
JK: No problem, stick with me. I'm a junior, but I'm new from Australia, so we're in the same boat.
NK: Cool. You're actually really good. What position?
JK: Last year, when I was a 10th grader, they let me play striker with the 12th graders in varsity.
NK: Wow. pretty cool. I'm a midfield defender.
JK: So what else do you do? NK: I'm also in the dance club. I love dancing, I'm a dance monster. My parents owns a dance studio, so I've been dancing since I was 5.
JK: Yeah, I saw you making some freestyle moves earlier. Looks like fun. But I'm already loaded with 2 other clubs. Maybe next year.
NK: Oh, how about we hang out and play soccer and I'll show you some freestyle dance moves? JK: Deal.
<At Glee>
Teacher: I'll need everyone to sit down and be quiet so we can go over a few things to get us started.
SN: <takes selcas of himself> This looks good. Teacher: Sunoo, put your phone away.
SN: What if I'm also the glee photographer? Teacher: We don't need one for practice. And we already have one from the photography club for our performances.
SN: <pout> Friend: How about later, we get some dessert after class.
SN: Ok. That sounds yummy. You're treating right? <looking cheerful and bright> I'm going to need something to drink after all this singing. <hitting his friend softly with his hands in a fist> We should continue auditioning and doing school performances with our group.
Friend: Let's keep an eye out for good singers. Then we can invite them to join us.
<For some, extracurricular activities are where we forge friendships with common interests>
