Any journey requires preparation, however, and Luci needed to find a gateway to the Ironwood. First things first; sleep and then breakfast, if the local pawn shop keeper was up for it. She was betting he would be.

Luci watched with one eye from the balcony of the Lost Lagoon, one arm draped around willing shoulders. The dancefloor emptied out as she sipped her cocktail, an Old Familiar, and half flirted with a gorgeous androgyne. Their violet hair was shaved so short it was like velvet under Luci's fingers but she couldn't concentrate on the murmured tale, her mind was busy chewing on the challenge. How to reach the Ironwood, find the girl, and return? Ella joined them, gliding across the dark wood as though she was floating through water, a reminder of what she was.

"Come. Sit, my pet." Ella commanded and Luci's companion stepped away and knelt immediately at the Siren's feet, obviously peacefully happy to have Ella's hand stroking that velvet scalp. Ella watched the Valkyrie, puzzled.

"Do you not want Lou, Luci?"

Luci blinked.

"Ah, I had not realised they were yours," she replied, "my apologies. I'm trying to decide the best way to reach the Ironwood tomorrow. It has somewhat distracted me."

Lou looked up sharply and Ella laughed.

"The web of Wyrd is never so neat," she chuckled, "as when it is guiding a beloved of the gods."

"Are you thinking of joining the casino sisters?" Luci asked, baffled.

"No, no. In fact, I believe I have a solution for you. Our Lou here is of the Ironwood."

The violet velvet head was bowed now, shaking a denial over and over as Ella reached down gently and placed a finger tip under their chin, lifting their face until reluctant, grey eyes reached hers.

"Yes." the Siren spoke firmly. "You can. It is time. Go and rest, tonight we will have one last dance, my sweet, and then you must go home."

Lou climbed to their feet and slowly, oh so slowly, pulled away, eyes not leaving Ella's face until they were through the far doorway and out of sight. Ella, in turn, watched Lou leave with a touch of sadness.

"Convenient." Luci muttered, and worked her way through certain important emotional logistics. "Is Lou going to be troublesome on this trip? If they don't want to go then are they likely to sabotage the effort?"

"Do not worry, they will be the perfect guide. Besides, they have family to face and a life to rebuild. One cannot hide forever. Lou will understand that they can return here if love calls to them, at least on occasion."

Satisfied, Luci downed the last of her cocktail and headed for her quarters. It was a long journey, between the worlds, and she had a visit to make in the morning. She fell asleep to the sounds of laughter and waves and gentle howls of pleasure, drifting down the glistening corridors from Ella's cavern.

The light glowed softly across the sky and music drifted from the backroom of the pawnshop as Luci rapped on the glass front door. Ron appeared, looking tousled and not long awake in a hastily donned pair of jeans, but cautiously happy to see her.

"Hi!" his voice, rough with morning, held surprise and hope in equal measure, as he ushered her into the back room. "Uhhh... tea? Coffee?"

Luci turned toward him, looked him slowly up and down and very deliberately licked her lips. He flushed and the denim grew conspicuously tighter in exactly the way Luci had hoped it would. His desire licked at her own and the magic began to hum.

"I'd prefer something a little... hotter." Luci grinned. "Now sit."

Ron did as he was told without question and Luci straddled him on the coach that already held some tasty memories. She leaned in close and whispered in his ear.

"You are going to do exactly as I tell you to, aren't you?" Ron nodded, his pulse speeding up as Luci continued, grinding her hips against him firmly. "And when I'm done with you, then we can have coffee."

Ron swallowed and Luci felt him grow harder beneath her, straining to make their desires come true as she slowly drew her sharpest nail along the pounding in his neck. A touch of fear played around the happiness in his eyes, both increasing the heat and encouraging the huntress to tease further.

The day was off to a promising start.
