Chapter 7 - Betrayal

The next day. 6:30 p.m. Safehouse. Letty was in her room relaxing but her phone rang as she got a voice message. She picks it up and looks at it. "Hm? A voice message from Wolf?" Letty wondered as she played it. "What makes you think you can roll through Fortuna? This is mine. All of it. I'm not giving it up. Not to a punk like you. No way. So, me, and you... on the city streets. You win that, then maybe I'll take you for a walk through the canyon. Teach you a lesson once and for all." Wolf said as the message was playing. "He wants to take me on? Well let's do this." Letty said in her mind as she turns off her phone and gets up from her bed. She grabs her keys from her desk as she opens the door and walks out to the garage. Letty opens the car cover sheets as it reveals to be a blue Nissan 350Z. She takes out the keys as she gets in the car and starts it up. The Z starts to rev as the garage door opens and Letty leaves the Safehouse heading to the race location. 3 minutes later. Skyline Avenue. Fortuna. Wolf was in his DB9 waiting at the race location. Letty appears as she takes the jump and lands. She passes by the DB9, and u-turned as she lined up with it at the starting line. "You made me wait. I'm just surprised you were stupid enough to show up at all." Wolf said as he revs his engine and Letty scoffs him. They were about to start the race as they launched off fast. The 350Z passed the DB9 at the start as they were coming into the first corner. Letty seems to be having a cornering advantage. "Not bad. It seems like it can corner well." Letty said in her mind as she brakes and heads into an alleyway that leads to a shortcut. Wolf follows her as they were off from the shortcut heading into a long straightaway. After they passed the straightaway. He continues following the main road and Letty heads into another shortcut. She follows the path as she was now heading into a long stretch of road ahead. The 350Z was in the lead and Letty activated the nitrous as she zooms fast between the separate lanes coming in fast into the last section. She brakes into the final hairpin and Letty head into a tunnel shortcut that leads to the goal. Wolf was all the way behind and she is far ahead from him. The Z crosses the goal first and is the winner of the race. 1 hour later. Gold Valley Run. Letty was waiting at the starting line as Wolf comes out from the shadows and makes his appearance. "Come on!" Wolf exclaimed as he passes Letty and accelerates as she performs a burnout then launches off. They were now starting the downhill run. "This guy's cornering sucks. It seems like he has understeer and his car is heavy." Letty said in her mind as she witnesses how the DB9 in front has the worst cornering when passing the first corner. She manages to stay on top of Wolf as he is trying to shake her on the curve sections. "It can try to pull away from me. The DB9 can't seem to accelerate as fast as my modified 350Z. If I want to pass this guy... I'll have to pass him on the bridge section. He won't be able to defend the inside easily so I'll have my chance to attack while I'm at it!" Letty exclaimed in her mind as she accelerates hard. They were about to hit the bridge section before heading into the next hairpin. They slammed their brakes before entering the corner but Letty takes the inside of the turn passing Wolf as she was now in the lead. "Now that's a solid pass. It seems like I can win this thing." Letty said in her mind as she takes the corners at a faster speed and is now in the zone. Wolf slows down as he lets off the gas and the 350Z pulls away. A minute later. Letty was at the starting line and Wolf u turns as he pulls up to her. "I let you win." Wolf said as Letty rolls her eyes and closes her window. Some time later. Uniqlo. I was done shopping for clothes and then I walked back to my FD. When I got back in the car, a voice message notification popped up as I clicked on it to see what it was about. "A message from Colin? I guess Letty must've beaten Wolf." I wondered as I played the voice message. "Hey, that was a great race! You think you could use another flier? Meet me at the university, let's talk." Colin said as the voice message was playing. "I got time." I said as I drove off as I was on my way to the university. Once I arrived at the University, I saw Colin's Cayman S as I parked behind it and got out of the car. "Look... I just wanna race. That's all I've ever wanted. If you're still looking to make good on the past. I might be able to help you out with that too. It was a big night you left." Colin explained. Transitions to Flashback. "It got pretty crazy real quick. I was playing it cool." Then I see Nikki knocked down. I could have sworn that the guy who knocked her down, had the same bag."Colin said. "I sense that the puzzle is connecting." I wondered in my mind as I was starting to fully understand what has happened in the past. Present. "I can help you guys out. I'm one of the best drivers in this city and you know it." Colin suggested. "Sounds like a plan. Welcome to the team." I replied as I gave Colin a handshake to welcome him. I got back in the car and got another voice message from Darius. "You did not disappoint. And now we've got the whole city locked up. That deserves a reward. Let's meet up at the old courthouse." Darius said as the voice message was playing. "I don't know about this... I sense something bad will happen. Well we'll have to see..." I wondered in my mind as I thought about it but instead I drove on my way to the old courthouse. I parked my car there as I got out and then Darius walked up to me. "So, this loot has figured everything out. You just couldn't leave good enough alone, could you? We were making bundles of cash, you were clearing your name, what more could you want?" Darius asked. "You want me to do your dirty work so here I am." I answered. "Well, things have progressed a little further now than I thought possible and... I'm gonna have to cash you out." Darius replied. "You son of a bitch." I said in my mind as I gripped my fists and I knew from the beginning Darius was using me all along. "Mr. Crawl! Come on... I didn't let you take my money the first time. What makes you think this is any different? You actually thought that I would front you the cash to save you from this loser? Then sit around while you were encroaching my territory? Greed has always been your problem. You've got a lot to learn about the big times, little man. This city is mine and it's time for you to disappear again." Darius explained as he chuckled and Cross gets out of the car as he walks up to us. I was trembling with anger inside as I wanted to punch him so badly but I was starting to feel weak. "It's Cross." Cross replied as he bodies me to the ground and I get handcuffed. He takes the keys of my RX-7 and tosses it to Darius but Nikki arrives at the old courthouse as she gets out of her car. "Take his ride to my place. Show's over." Darius said as he walks up to Nikki and hands her my keys. But then, she walks up to Cross as she decides to pay him my bounty just to release me free and he gives the keys to free me from the handcuffs. "Thanks. I'm glad you changed your mind." Nikki said. "I'm just a bounty hunter, and I always get paid. Just make sure I do." Cross replied as he walks to his Corvette and gets in. Nikki releases me free from the handcuffs as she unlocks it and picks me up. "Are you okay?" Nikki asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." I answered. "Look, I hate it when people say "I told you so". So here it goes... Seems that some of your team was there the night that you left. They tell a different story than the one I've been hearing from Darius. Thing is: their stories seem to add up. Somebody tipped off the cops, somebody let you escape, somebody switched the bag. Now I know who that somebody was." Nikki explained. "Now I'm getting riled up." I said in my mind. "Darius likes to pull the strings. Now here's something he doesn't know about. Part of the deal with Cross is that I race with you. You think you can handle that?" Nikki asked. "Sweet! Sounds like I'm not the only one that can handle it." I answered. "You're not the only one with a score to settle. Now, let's get outta here. We got a lotta' ground to catch up." Nikki replied as she got in her Ford GT and I got back in my RX-7 but she gave me the keys to the FD. I got in as we were driving our way back to the Safehouse. A few hours later. 9:30 p.m. Safehouse. I was in my room. I heard a knock on my door as I was sitting on my bed. "Can I come in?" Nikki asked. "Sure." I answered as she opened the door and came in as she sat with me on the bed. "Listen, I know you want revenge on Darius for making you leave on purpose. But you cannot rush it and expect him to take you on right away. You need to be patient, slow down and you'll be able to get your chance. I want revenge on him as well, but I'd suggest we take things slowly." Nikki suggested. "Well... you're right. I think we just gotta keep going. We can't just jump ahead and take him on. We've gotta conquer the zones around Silverton and then it will be ours. Once it's done, Darius won't see it coming." I answered. "Good. Wait I hear some yelling downstairs." Nikki replied as she heard yelling from the garage area downstairs. "What do you want from us?" Jill asked. "Well, I wanted to get revenge on Darius and I want to join you guys in it." Courtney answered. "It seems like there's more than that. You're trying to steal Branden away from Ellie and don't think I'm stupid. I know your move Courtney." Adena replied. "Well, maybe the Ellie chick shouldn't have been on the scene and I should've got Branden first." Courtney suggested. "If I were you, I'd back away from Branden because he doesn't want to be with you." April replied. "Enough!" Letty exclaimed as everyone stopped arguing. "Guys. I know we all want revenge on Darius just as much as we do but we all have to stop arguing. It's not gonna do much. Courtney, if you want to join us in on this. Here's the deal, at least give Branden & Ellie some space. Do not flirt with him or try to get him near. Because if you do, you're out of the crew. Deal?" Letty asked. "Deal." Courtney answered. "You sure you want to do this?" Adena asked. "Letty, wait." Jill suggested. "No, the decision is made." Letty answered as she walked away to my room. Adena and Jill looked at each other as they were confused about what was going on. She knocked on my door to my room as she came in. "Branden, you should get out of the Safehouse for a while because you know who is here." Letty suggested. "I know." I replied. "So anyways, I gave you and Ellie access to a hotel room in the Silverton area. You guys can chill out there for a while until the heat is clear." Nikki explained. "Thank you, Nikki! That definitely sounds like a good idea. I'll go tell Ellie that. What hotel is it?" I asked. "Caesar's Palace." Nikki answered. I gave a nod as an answer. Meanwhile. 9:55 p.m. Caesar's Palace. Parking Area. "This hotel's nice Branden. We can spend a vacation here for now, but we'll have to go out and race for a while as well." Ellie said. "I'm glad Nikki could set us up at a luxury hotel like this." I replied as I closed the door of the Supra and locked it as it was closed. We walked out of the parking garage and we were heading inside the hotel. We walked inside and we saw a registration desk that allows us to book our room. We walked up there and greeted the assistant to help set us up. "Hi, we are looking to check in for a hotel room. I'm pretty sure Nikki booked us in for it and I'm sure that you will be able to set us up with one?" I greeted. "Ah, you're Nikki's friend. I'll help set you up. It will be in the Palace Tower, here is your key." The assistant replied as he handed me the hotel key. "Thank you!" Ellie said. "Enjoy your stay. Tell Nikki I said hello and she owes me something." The assistant replied. "Will do." I said as Ellie and I walked away as we were finding the elevator to the Palace Tower. "Branden... I have something to tell you." Ellie said. "What is it?" I asked. "I'm... I'm pregnant." Ella answered. "That's... that's amazing. Congratulations!" I replied. "The thing is... do you really want to be a father? I don't think you would want to still be around me." Ellie asked. "Of course I wanted to be one! I'm ready to become one when the time comes because I want you to be happy. I care about you so much that our future will be better when we have a child on our hands." I answered. "Well... alright then, but let's stay focused on the race right now." Ellie replied. Some time later. 8:30 p.m. North Broadway. April and Yumi were about to race on the North Broadway track against Kenji along with the rest of the Stacked Deck racers. They were also in their new Tier 3 cars as well. April revs her Zonda F as they were about to begin the race. Kenji gives a flirty look at April but she scoffs at him as she was about to focus on the race.  "You ready for this?" Yumi asked. "Let's do this." April answered as she shifted in 1st and they launched off the start as the race as begun. They took off from the first corner as the Zonda F was moving up ahead of everyone along with the Impreza catching up as well. Yumi takes the lead and April follows her as they were coming into an alleyway that leads to a shortcut of the race. After they passed the shortcut, they were heading into the steel refinery section. They were heading straight as they were about hit the next corner. April brakes in and grips it as Kenji was about to make his move but she blocks him as she defends her position. "I see an alley on the right." Yumi said as she takes the alleyway on the right. "Got it." April replied as she follows the Impreza through the shortcut and they gripped it to another shortcut on the right. "We can take the alley on the left after this corner." April said as she sees an alley on the left. "Alright, we're taking it." Yumi replied as she and April took the alleyway on the left but Kenji is behind the Zonda F. "You're not gonna win easily with my crew member. I'm gonna wipe you guys off the road!" Kenji exclaimed. "Ugh! We picked up a tail. He's trying to pass on the alleyway." April called. "Don't worry, the goal is near. You go ahead, I'll block him once we hit the final corner." Yumi replied as they were coming out of the alleyway and heading into the final section. Once they were on the last section, they were heading into the final corner. Yumi slows down as she blocks Kenji allowing April to pass her. "Just right there! Just take em! Take em!" Yumi exclaimed. The Zonda F is now in the lead as April accelerates hard towards the goal. "The goal is near. Don't let up for one second!" April exclaimed in her mind. "Yeah.. yeah, yeah." Yumi said as she was trying to hold the position and prevent Kenji from passing her but April crosses the goal as she is the winner of the race. "Yes! We won!" April exclaimed as she slowed down. "Ha! I wasn't worried!" Yumi replied as she sighed in relief and slowed down. A few minutes later. Parking area. "Want a coffee?" Yumi asked. "Sure, I'll take one." April answered as she took the Espresso and went for a sip. "That was some good racing out there, I didn't know that Ellie had a faster on your team like you." Yumi said. "Well. That's because I've met Jill and then Ellie and I became friends when that time came. You could say I'm just average or probably between a semi pro." April replied. "Don't put yourself down April, you're a good driver. I know someday you will be able to get past Ellie or Branden as you will be faster than them when you start to grow and grow faster each time." Yumi suggested as she took a sip of her coffee. "Well, I can say it is what it is." April replied as she took another sip of Espresso. Some time later. Palace Tower. I was in the room Ellie as we were in bed. But she had tears dripping down as she was wrong. "Hey. Are you okay?" I asked. "I'm fine..." Ellie answered. "What's wrong?" I asked as I was curious. "I- I'm just overwhelmed with that stupid chick..." Ellie answered as she was crying and I held her as I was comforting her. "I get it... I understand, don't cry." I replied. "I can't help it. I'm just so overwhelmed with everything that's happening. I don't want to lose you. You're mine. You're my everything." Ellie cried. "I know, we'll do everything we can to get the job done and take down Darius for good. It's gonna be alright, I promise. I'll always be here for you. Don't cry anymore, you have a beautiful smile that is inside you, use that in every way." I suggested. "Thank you, Branden. I don't know what I'd do without you." Ellie replied. "It's okay. I won't leave you. I'll be by your side forever." I said as Ellie was hugging me back as I blushed but I smiled back. We were hugging for the night to keep each other company and laying low for a while so Courtney doesn't attempt to sabotage our relationship. Some time later. April and Yumi were on their way back to the Safehouse but Darius and his crew block them as they stopped but he approached the Zonda F. "You think you know this town? You have no idea what's in store for you other than it's gonna hurt." Darius suggested as he and his crew drive away. "Ignore him, he's no good. He's just being a sore loser." Yumi said. "I know... I know... let's go home." April replied as she and Yumi continued on their drive back to the Safehouse. Moments later. 9:00 p.m. Savannah Street. The drivers were lining up at the starting line and revving their engines. Nikki and Britt were now up against former 21st Street Leader Angie while the race commences.
