Chapter 9 - Ignited

9:30 p.m. Deadfall Junction. The between Jill & Wolf is about to begin as they were heading down the hill. "Let's do this." Jill said in her mind as she accelerates hard through the first cornering following Wolf's Murciélago. She closes in on him as she starts to draft for a bit. "Yeah, like that will last." Wolf said. "My car should be able to take this guy faster on the corners. Our cars are even because they're the same model & body. But it looks like it's gonna have to be a challenge of skill!" Jill exclaimed as she takes the inside of the bend. They were heading into a bend with a mixed chicane that leads to a tunnel after passing the 2nd short bend. Wolf shifts up to 3rd gear as he pulls away from her. They were passing through the tunnel as they were coming through a series of curves. "She's tough! The LP 640 is fast in the corners. On the Deadfall downhill... I didn't think anyone can keep up with my Murciélago Coupé." Wolf said as he brakes slightly in the next bend as they were about to hit the 4 hairpins coming up. After they took the next bend, he kept gripping to the inside as he was pushing hard to pull away from Jill. "His steering's starting to get aggressive. Is he increasing his pace to pull away? If he tried that on the downhill, his tires would undoubtably wear out." Jill wondered in her mind as she passed through the final hairpin. They were heading down to a bend that leads to another long hairpin and they are going down a series of curves that lead to the first bridge. Jill takes the inside as she uses it to keep up with Wolf but he is still pulling away. Now they're taking a long bend and down to the next hairpin on the second bridge. After they passed the second bridge and onto the next corner. It was starting to rain. "It started raining and the goal's close!" Wolf said in his mind as he turned on his windshield wipers and they were on the chicane onto the next corner. "When it just starts to rain is the most frightening. Make a move without warning you'll suddenly lose control." Jill said in her mind as she takes the next hairpin but she doesn't turn on her windshield wipers. She was about to take the inside on the long hairpin that leads a short straight and the outside of the last corner. "Let's go, bring it on!" Jill exclaimed in her mind. "She's crazy! That idiot is gonna kill us both if she goes in at that speed!" Wolf exclaimed as they were coming into the final corner. Jill uses the outside as her tires were gripping hard on the sidewalk and she is now in the lead. They were onto the long straightaway as the goal was close. The LP 640 was a 3 meters in front of the Murciélago Coupé as Jill crosses the goal and wins the race. Meanwhile. 9:45 p.m. Caesar's Palace. We were walking to the Neptune Pool area as we put our set of towels on the relaxing chairs. "Branden, we're here at the pool!" Ellie said. "It's okay... I'm just hang around here." I replied. "Come on, we're here to have fun! I'm gonna take your towel off!" Ellie suggested as she grabs towel and I was hugging it slightly. "Let go of my towel, Ellie sta-." I replied as the towel came off me and it showed my dragon tattoo on my left arm. "Is that a dragon tattoo?" Ellie asked as she looked at my tattoo. "Yes. What about it?" I asked. "What does it mean to you?" Ellie asked. "Well, during that time we left Bayview. My mother decided to get a tattoo to honor the team or honor her family. I guess you can say I got it when I was taken to a tattoo shop and that's when I got it so I can honor my family as well." I answered. "You must been through a lot, I'm very sorry you had to deal with it." Ellie replied. "It's okay. It's something I can do to honor the fallen. What about your cherry tattoo on your chest?" I asked. "That tattoo? My mother had a cherry tattoo on her arm. I wanted to get one so I can match with her. I decided to have the tattoo ink on my chest. I love my tattoo. It's something I'd keep as a design as well." Ellie answered. I smoothly touched her necklace as I looked at it when the necklace had some type of meaning to me. She blushed and looked away as I blushed too but I gave a wink. I looked at her belly as well and Ellie turned around as she slowly slid into the pool. "Hop on in, it's not bad!" Ellie suggested. "Are you sure? I mean you're pregnant and I don't want to push you too hard." I asked. "I know what to do, we won't play rough. Let's play it gently." Ellie answered. "Alright, if you insist." I replied as I jumped into the pool and caused a big splash. "Woah! It's cold!" I exclaimed as the pool was cold and I was shivering. "Don't be a baby about it! Let's play!" Ellie replied as she splashed at me as I was shivering more so I decided to splash back. We were splashing at each other and we were laughing as we were having fun with each other. Some time later. Safehouse. Jenna and Courtney arrived back at the Safehouse as they drove into the garage and got out of the cars. "So who won?" Britt asked. "Let's just say she won fair and square." Courtney answered. "So it looks like you won't be needing to work with us anymore since you've done enough for us already." Adena replied. "I was the faster one on that sprint race because those guys on Stacked Deck were very tough. But again, I won fair and square Courtney, you know the bet right?" Jenna asked. "Y-Yeah... well goodbye guys and good luck on your final battle." Courtney answered as she got back in the Le Mans Quattro as she drives out of the Safehouse and drives off. "So she won't be our concern anymore right?" Britt asked. "I guess it looks like it, Branden and Ellie can come back to the Safehouse now." April answered. "Speaking of Branden, I'm gonna call him to let him know that he and Ellie can come back to the Safehouse." Jenna replied as she took out her phone to call me as she was going to inform me that Courtney was gone. Caesar's Palace. Ellie and I were sitting at the edge of the pool. My phone was on silent mode as it was on the relaxing chair next to her towel and phone. Safehouse. "Ugh, he's not answering." Jenna said as she hung up. "He's probably on his date right now." April replied. "Maybe you should let him enjoy his date right now. I don't want to bother him so let's just leave him alone for now. He'll probably call later or tomorrow." Ryan suggested. " *sighs* Okay... you know it kinda sucks for all of us to just be chilling here. Can't we all take a vacation too?" Jenna asked. "You know, not all of us can't take a vacation now. We have to take down Darius and his crew. We can't sit down and relax now. We need to pick up some time and get on it." Adena answered. "I agree with Adena. We don't have the time to relax. Our two drivers though are the only ones that can have this luxury. I understand how you feel Jenna but we can't do much about it since they're the aces." Jill replied. "I guess you're right." Jenna said. I sat down at the pool as Ellie climbs onto my lap and sits on top of me. She moved close to me as her pregnant belly was touching my abs and my heart was beating fast. I was feeling relaxed as Ellie puts her lips onto my lips as we were about to succumb into a kiss. It was a very beautiful night as it was very peaceful and nobody caught us as we decided to kiss and make out at the pool. We felt a spark for a short moment as we pulled out of the kiss. "Ellie, what were we doing?" I asked. "I dunno. It feels nice though. But I want to do it back at the room, I feel like it's probably about to close soon." Ellie answered. "Yeah, we should go back to the room. Let's grab our stuff first." I replied as Ellie and I got out of the pool. We grabbed our stuff from the relaxing chairs as we wrapped ourselves up with the towels we picked up at the towel section. A few minutes later. Palace Tower. We finished showering and we got changed into our pajamas. We went on the bed as we were about to go to sleep. I laid down as I turned off the lamp. "Good Night Ellie." I said. "Good Night." Ellie replied as she went to sleep and I closed my eyes as I went to sleep after I turned off the lamp. The next day. 10:00 a.m. My phone was ringing as I grabbed it by the lamp and I answered it. "Hello?" I called. "Hey Branden, it's Jenna. The crew and I have a surprise for you at the Safehouse. Do you think you can swing by right now if it's cool with you?" Jenna asked. "Actually we're sleeping right now. We'll come by tonight." I answered. "Okay. No worries. Also I forgot to tell you, you and Ellie can come back to the Safehouse since Courtney is no longer with us now." Jenna replied. "Yeah, cool. I'll see you later. I gotta go back to sleep." I said. "Okay, I'll see you soon." Jenna replied as she hung up. "Who was that?" Ellie asked. "It's just Jenna, she informed us that Courtney is no longer with us at the Safehouse and they have a surprise for us as well." I answered. "Let's just go back to sleep." Ellie suggested. "Alright." I replied as I put my phone back on the top of the cabinet and went back to sleep. She puts her arm on me as she was about to cuddle with me while we were sleeping. 8 hours later. 6:00 p.m. Safehouse. I parked in the garage as Ellie and I got out of the car. I took out my phone as I got a message from Angie, Kenji & Wolf. "This is as far as you go! If you want to take on Darius, you have to go through all three of us and our new rides. The Canyon and the City, you got to beat us in both first. No need for Darius to soil his hands!" I said as I read the message. "Wait. What is it?" Ellie asked. "Sounds like Darius and his crew want to take me on." I answered. "Sweet! I knew we would make it to the end." Ellie replied. "Hey kid, I uh have a surprise for you. You should check it out. Darius has recruited new crew members with a bunch of new cars, so I bought you a new ride. I mean it's not new but I'm pretty sure it's what you've been driving when you were back in Rockport." Sal greeted as he escorted me and Ellie to the garage. As I went into the garage and I saw the BMW M3 GTR. "Wait a minute, Sal. How did you get the car back and how was it repaired at this instant?" I asked. "I did it. I made a negotiation with Cross about our deal. He decided to give the car back to you but as soon as we got it back. Sal, Jenna, Jordan and I got to working on repairing the car as we were restoring it to how it was before when you first modified it." Nikki answered. "It means a lot Nikki. You know how much I loved driving that car. Thank you so much." I replied. "Hey that's what friends are for right?" Nikki asked. "Good luck Branden. It's on you to take Palmont back for us." April answered. "You have such courage and confidence. I faith in you that you will win this race for all of us." Colin replied. I breathed in and exhaled calmly as I was starting to feel more confident with everyone supporting me in this race as this is the final battle of Palmont. A few minutes later. Diamond Hills. I was taking the M3 GTR for a spin to see how I like the settings for the car. I braked into the next corner as I shifted down and gripped it. "The car handles the same on how I drove it before. But it seems to become better than the usual. I love how the car is setup. I can't wait to take this out for the final battle." I said in my mind as I shifted up and accelerated hard. After I was finished with my test drive, I drove back to the Safehouse as I opened the garage door and drove in. "So how does it handle?" Jill asked. "Handling is the same as the usual so no need to adjust it. The car definitely rocks with best settings and it's power output is outstanding. You can tell this thing still handles like a beast." I answered. "Well I'm glad you still like it. Good luck out there Branden, you're gonna need it." Jill replied. 2 hours later. 8:00 p.m. Desperation Ridge. The drivers were lining up to the start as the race on the canyon for the battle of Silverton is about to begin. "Okay, since we are doing a standby start. You wouldn't mind if I start the countdown right?" Jenna asked. "Yeah, sure. Whatever." Kenji answered. "Then let's do this." Jenna replied as she walks up ahead to the front of the cars as she's about to start the countdown. Letty puts her elbow on my car's roof. "Alright Branden, I need you to listen to me carefully. You're gonna have to put in a lot of strategy into this race. The Murciélago & Challenger is not all fast on the corners but you will need to take em on the straightaways. Be careful with the Lan Evo, he is not powerful on the straightaways but he'll take you on those corners so you'll have to defend the lead as you take it. Once you're in the lead, push it as hard as you can until the end. Got it?" Letty asked. "I got it." I answered. "You're winning this for us, so don't lose. Jenna, start it up!" Letty replied. "Got it!" Jenna said as she was about to start the countdown and Letty backed away from M3 GTR. "I'm gonna start the countdown! 5, 4, 3." Jenna exclaimed as she raised her arm up to prepare the countdown. "Let's do this." I said as I revved my car's engine and I was about to be prepared to race. "2, 1, GO!!" Jenna exclaimed as she started the countdown and the cars launched off the start fast. I had a faster start than the Murciélago as I passed Wolf and was now in 3rd place. "Don't let the kid pass, we can't let him get close to Darius." Kenji said. "Got it. This kid is not gonna let it become a walk in the park." Angie replied as she takes the first corner but attempts to block me. I took her on the outside as I was now in 2nd place. We were now heading on the next corner and then the curve before heading into the tunnel section. I saw an opening on the tunnel section and I went for it as I passed Kenji. We were now heading into a series of curves coming up as I was now in the lead. I gripped the inside of the bend and we were coming down to a straightaway along with a curve and 4 consecutive hairpins coming up. "Hey we're at the 3rd hairpin, I can hear em coming in fast!" Britt exclaimed as she hears the cars coming into the 3 hairpins coming up. We were coming onto the series of hairpins coming up. "It's the M3 GTR!" Britt exclaimed. "Branden's in the lead! You can do it!" Ryan replied. "Alright, the M3 GTR's in the lead. Branden is definitely on fire tonight! He's smoking the leaders tonight and they don't know what hit em real good!" Britt called. Letty was smiling as the rest of the crew was cheering for me and they were excited as they knew I am in the lead. We were coming up on the first bridge as I braked in hard and gripped the next corner. Kenji was getting angry as he was trying to make his move on the bend coming up but I blocked him as I gripped it hard and I was defending my position. "The 2nd bridge! That means the goal is close!" I exclaimed in my mind as I saw the last bridge coming up. I gripped it hard and we were coming up into the next corner with a curve coming up. Angie passes Kenji as she was trying to take me out but I avoided her attack and I took the next corner. We were heading into the long bend coming up! "The last corner! The goal's near!" I exclaimed in my mind as I braked in and took the last corner after we passed the long bend. We were now on the final straightaway as I crossed the goal first. The race now commences to the city as the battle for Silverton continues.
