"Uh!" I grunt. The light yellow ball sails over the net and hits a kid on the other side square in the nose.
"AHHH!" She screams. I wince, snickers ring out through the silent gym. I search the other team to see who my serve hit. My eyes widen as I see the curly headed tall girl storm over heading in my direction.
I take a step back as she continues to advance toward me, her green eyes filled with rage, "Josie...." I breathe out slowly.
"What the hell is your problem?" She yells, she crosses her arms. "First off you move here, steal my best friend, my BOYFRIEND and now you wail a volleyball at me, on purpose, to get back at me?"
I chuckle, oh hell no. "Josie, who the hell do you think you are?" I pop my right hip out and repeat her action, crossing my arms, "I obviously didn't mean to hit you, that's what's called an accident."
She raises a plucked eyebrow. "Wh...."
I chuckle again and step toward her. "Oh no, I heard what you had to bitch about me, now you're going to listen to what I have to say." I smile at her blank face, she looks like she's trying to form a witty comeback but can't think of one fast enough.
I continue, "First off, I didn't steal Alex from you. She finally didn't want to put up with listening to you obsess about yourself and drama." I examine my nails, trying to hide my smile as chuckles ring out throughout the gym.
"Secondly, I didn't steal Jake from you either, he came to me, freewill. Instead of being a bully to everyone around you, you should change yourself so people will actually want to be around you, instead of fearing you. Get this straight right now, I don't like you, I certainly don't want to be your friend, I didn't steal Jake or Alex and I certainly didn't hit you on purpose."
More laughs and chuckles ring out, making the awkward silence a thing of the past. I smile at Josie.
"You know what? Fuck you, fuck all of you!" she screams and stomps toward the locker room.
"Oohs" and "Ahhs" fill up my ears. Brielle rushes toward the locker room after Josie. James comes over to me, a large smirk on his face, he claps loudly. "Bravo, you coincidentally made yourself Josie's new sworn enemy. Congrats."
I roll my eyes and grin, I lightly smack his abs, "Come on, Jockstrap, let's go get changed."
***/
"Yeah! Did you hear about the new girl confronting Josie?!"
"What! It's about time someone showed that bitch!"
"Damn, New Girl gets hotter by the second."
I walk past a group of kids in my grade, they hush when they see me walking past them. Since the incident, I've received many nods of approval and high-fives from kids today, them proud of someone sticking up for them against Josie. I groan, trying not to make eye-contact with anyone as I scurry to geometry. I breathe out a sigh of relief as I see the door to Mr. Greens' classroom. All the kids look toward me as I enter the room, I smile sheepishly at my teacher and make my way to my seat by James.
"Hey, how's it going?" James whispers. I huff, seriously? I get out the packet we had for homework.
"Well, I've received death glares, high fives and a hug from a nerdy 10th grader. I'd say... interesting day."
James turns toward his desk, "That's an understatement." He whispers. I roll my eyes and give my full attention to Mr. Green.
While Mr. Green was writing an equation on the board for us, I was interrupted from writing it down. I glare to my left at a smirking James. My hand was propping my head up, but being the ass that he most certainly is, he caught me off guard and hit my arm so hard, the side of my face hit the desk, hard.
