Whos the new captain?

After lunch I had two study halls. Jake had football practice and I had cheerleading tryouts. I was going to make it. I knew it! Because Jake said the team kinda sucks. I can pull it together! Maybe? I walked into the gym and got spankies and a sports bra on like every other girl and our cheer sneaks. I walked up to the table where a girl sat. She must be the head cheerleader. She was giving me a bitchy stare. "Dilan Jones." I stated.

"What?"

"That's my name, Dilan Jones. I'm here to tryout. I was already captain in my last school and we went very far." I looked around and saw Alex, Brielle and Josie. "Oh okay. Just sign your name here. I'm Maya."

I wrote my name, and smiled at her, then walked toward Alex, Brielle and Josie.

"Hey you! I didn't know you were trying out for the team!" Alex smiled.

"Yeah I guess so! I was captain in my last school so I know a thing or two."

"Wow." Brielle said. Josie didn't say anything. I don't think she likes me very much.

"Well that's great! You can be my partner! And help us with our pyramid and all of that! How much do you weight?" Alex said. She didn't mean that in a mean way either.

"130." I said.

"Well your lighter than Josie! We will just start catching you!"

Sounds goo..."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Josie said. "Who does this bitch think she is? I was supposed to be your partner Alex but you ditch me for miss goody two shoes over me and you decide without me that we are gonna throw HER? Yeah Im out." Josie bitched. She said my name with so much disgust.

"Josie wait!" Brielle ran after her. Alex rolled her eyes.

"I'm sorry. She was just like that when Bri transferred here. She's not an easy person to get along with. So I'd be careful." Alex told me.

"Oh I'm not afraid. I've delt with mean girls in my time." I turned and sat on the bleachers. "5,6,7,8!" Maya screamed. I'd have to admit there routine was okay. But I've done alot better.

The girl Maya called my name. There were two parts of the tryout. One was keeping in time with her and the other was showing her what I could do the best at. For a leveled cheerleader Maya was a four. But I was a seven. And she was the highest ranking. And at this school, if I could beat her, then I automatically take captains position. And that's the goal. "What level are you?" I asked. Fully knowing highest rank was captain.

"Four" she stated proudly. I almost laughed she thinks she's the biggest bitch? Well by the end of this practice, I will have captains position.

"Okay. 5,6,7,8"

I did everything she told me to do. But I did it cleaner and smoother and mine looked good. We even had to get thrown up and grab each others hands at a certain height. Her group didn't even get her up in time, much less had she touched my hand. I was surprised because she could hardly do a split.

Wow. When we were done, I heard someone clapping. It was Jake. I turned and smiled to him. He smiled back, and I walked toward him. He was wearing just his regular clothes, a tight fitting grey V neck and black skinnys. He just got out of the shower.

"You are amazing! You're definitely going to get Captain." He smiled.

"Awe thanks. That's the plan I really hope so. Did football end early?"

"Yeah. And I kinda convinced coach I needed some help in geometry to come see you." I was flattered.

"You didn't have to!"

"Yeah I did!" He smiled and I smiled back. Maya walked up to the middle of the gym. Her face was tear streaked so you could tell she wasn't captain any longer. "The captain for this year is not me... And I know all of you girls are sad. Look how far we came, level 4. I am the best or at least I was." Maya stopped to wipe a tear away and sniffle. I grabbed Jakes hand and squeezed. "This years captain is... Dilan Jones level 7."

Oh my gosh it really happened! Jake looked at me and I freaked out! Jake picked me up and spun me around. And I started laughing and everyone just stared, Alex was smiling. "Told you" she mouthed, and I couldn't help but giggle. Josie was glaring at me. I could almost feel the heat she was radiating off her body... What the hell?

"Alright ladies, this isn't my first time being captain and as former captain maya told you, I am a level 7 almost eight. And this year it is my goal to get everyone of you at least up to a six. I think we can do it! Everyone in! 1,2,3 cheer! Hit the locker room!" I looked at Jake and he smiled. I walked over to him again and kissed his cheek.

"I think your my good luck charm." I said.

"Nah I think you're mine."

"Mmm I don't know."

"Well captain, I have a game here tonight and I want you to come."

"What time?"

"6:30."

"Okay I'll ask Alex if she wants to watch it with me!"

"Okay sweet. I wish you guys would cheer for me!"

"We will silly! We just will cheer from the bleachers! I gotta get changed." I smiled and turned. I got changed into my clothes and put some perfume on.

Maya walked up to me. "Well congrats Captain."

"Thank you Maya!"

I walked out and Jake and I walked to our lockers. We had biology. We sat at different ends and I sat next to Alex, jake sat next to James.

"He likes you, I'm telling you!" Alex said as I sat in the empty seat next to her.

"I hope so. Hey are you going to the game tonight?"

"Yes! Wouldn't miss it! You going?"

"Yeah come with me?"

"Yeah! If its okay though I'd have to ride with you to your house and stuff because my mom won't be home and I don't have a car."

"Yeah! Just give me your number!"

I found Mr. George insanely boring. Talking about frogs and plants and he was just... boring. Alex took me to English and we kept talking about Jake and the game and school on the way there. English was also very boring. I was just waiting for the bell to ring... And staring at Jake. I really do like him. He's muscular, he's althletic, he's cute, he's handsome, he wears nice clothes, and he has nice lips and a cute butt. RING RING RING. Time to go! I walked to my locker and packed everything quickly and met Alex. "Ready?"

"Hey Dil wait!" I turned and recognized Jake sprinting toward me.

"You didn't let me carry your books. Or walk with you."

"I was just walking with Alex."

"It's okay." He smiled. "Hey can you come like a half hour early?"

"Yeah. See ya. Text me if you want."

"Alright. Bye." Then he hugged me. I wasn't expecting that! Alex and I giggled and went out to my car.
