(Because my laptop came in!)
*A/N at the end!*
“I wasn’t even THAT wasted last night...” Alex shouts from the bathroom. I roll my eyes, I’m currently vacuuming up the carpet, and fixing the sheets from Alex’s… well, I’ll put it innocently; interesting night. I shove the vacuum into the cream fuzzy carpet, determined to get it clean.
How would she even know? I huff and set the vacuum aside. I flop onto the newly made bed, I groan from the pain that explodes in my head. My thumbs rub into my temples.
“Well,” I start in thought, “you did drink three beers, in the time I drank one.”
Alex walks out of the bathroom, a stunned look on her face.
I smile at her face and sit up on the fluffy comforter, my legs folded indian-style underneath me. I hold up my hand at her face as if to stop words from spilling out.
“I know, I know, wow! I did an amazing job cleaning up your mess, best friend award goes to who? Oh, that’s right, ME!” I point my thumb at the middle of my pushed out chest, a grin spreads to my face.
Alex huffs, a small smile lit up on her dainty features, making her seem younger, more innocent. I blink rapidly to take in her more natural appearance. She didn’t resemble a wasted raccoon any longer; instead, she looked like a naturally beautiful, seventeen year old. She wore the same clothes from last night, now slightly wrinkled. Her face was fresh and makeup free, her eyes misty against her auburn hair that was cascading in waves over her collarbones.
She laughs lightly and I take the time to figure out what I missed before. Alex is currently holding a pile of clothing that looked very familiar to me. Confused, I walked over to Alex, to examine the clothes. But I didn’t have to get very far, I noticed the smell coming off from them had to have been James’ cologne, which I had to admit, smelled pretty good.
“They’re James.” Alex states, she looks down at the heap of clothing, looking at it like a teenager that doesn’t know what to do holding a baby does, but doesn’t want to let it go.
Well duh. I give her a sad smile. Being closer, I also see the faint tear trails running down her face. “Come on, honey.” I lace my left arm over her shoulders and guide us over to the nicely made up bed. She dive into the pillows and I sit like I did before on the left side of her.
I take a deep breath, and let it out slowly, Alex repeats my action.
“This morning, I saw James leave, suddenly, in just his sweatpants.” Alex tears her eyes away from mine. I continue, “He told me not to say anything to anyone, but I figured it would be okay to tell you.”
Her eyes well up in tears. “He was embarrassed then.” She hugs a pillow to her chest.
I give her a reassuring smile, “Alex, I don’t think…”
“Was I really that bad?” She cries, “I don’t even remember what happened, all I know was I was drunk and I gave up my virginity to a jerk who LEFT ME ALONE!” She yells at the end.
God, all I want to do is go find James and force him to explain to my best friend.
“My heart breaks for you, I wish I could make James explain to you, but I know that’s easier said than done.” Alex shifts onto the bed next to me. I feel tears well up in my eyes but I push them down. I can’t believe James would do this to Alex, he has to have some type of intentions for his actions. I jump off the bed.
“ALEX!” I shout. The lump on the bed jumps too.
“Whattttt…” She groans. Bad idea. The sudden movement makes my head spin. I reach out to the bed to steady myself.
