Dec.22,1967

AMANE'S POV:

I leaned on my hand as I listened to Tsuchigomori's lecture. I was upset that science had already happened and was finished. The good thing was that today was the last day of school before winter break. "Yugi!" I jumped slightly and looked up"could you please tell me what 8 times 9 is?" I sat there staring blankly at my desk. I didn't know the answer. "I don't know..."I muttered"I'm sorry,what was that?" Tsuchigomori hums looking at me boredly. "I-I don't know." I felt all eyes on me,I felt my cheeks start to burn in embarrassment as Tsuchigomori sighs in annoyance. "Can anyone else tell me? Since Yugi doesn't know." I heard laughs surrounding me,I sunk deep into my chair. I hate being the center of attention. "It's 72." A girl in my class answers"correct." Tsuchigomori writes the answer down on the board. (Funfact that actually happened to me in math class once and my teacher used me as an 'example')

I copied down what he wrote on the board into my notebook. The rest of the class period I tried to go unnoticed,but it didn't really work out in my favor. Finally,the class ended signaling the end of the school day. I quietly thanked the gods and got my things together shoving them into my bag. "Bye Y/N!" I turn to see a classmate waving goodbye to her"bye bye!" Y/N stood up and I turned back to my bag,continuing to put my things away. "Amane~." Y/N says next to me"are you excited about meeting your secret admirer?" I blushed and stood up"n-not really." I stutter out"huh?! Why not?!" I shrug and sling the bag over me"I just feel like this isn't a good idea is all." I say walking over to one of the classroom doors. "If I were you,I'd be so excited and nervous." She admits as I open the door and we walk out. "Where are you meeting them again?"

"Behind the school,at the sakura tree." She nods"but it's not even a sakura tree right now. That's not romantic!" She complains"everyone confesses their 'undying love' at that tree,no matter the season." I tell her as I walk into the shoe locker area. "I guess you're right..."Y/N stops and turns on her heel,her arms behind her back as a smile rested on her face. "Call me when you get home and tell me allll about it!" I nod"o-of course." She then waves me goodbye and walks over to her shoe locker.

I wait for the crowd to die down a little before I go over to my locker. "Amane! Amane!" I hear Tsukasa's voice ring through the almost empty halls. I turn to see my brother running towards me with a paper in his hand"look!" He shoves the paper in my face,I pull it away to see it was test,a 100% written at the top. "Oh wow." I hum"I know right?!" He takes the paper"mom and dad are going to be so proud!" He smiles showing his fangs"uh-huh." I turn back to the locker and switch out my shoes. "Come on Amane." Tsukasa says approaching the exit"a-actually,I-I have to meet u-up with someone." Tsukasa frowns"ok..."he says with disappointment.

"You better be home soon though!" I nod and Tsukasa rushes out of the school. I sigh as I see the hot air leave my mouth. "It's cold." I comment pulling my scarf closer to me. I headed out of the doors and went towards the sakura tree.

It was empty.

"I knew it. Who could ever love me?" I stuff my hands into my pockets,the cold winter air was beating roughly against my cheeks and the snow falling wasn't helping either. "Maybe I should wait for the a little." I shake my head"idiot,it's freezing out!" To say the least,I was having a internal war with myself. I stay and wait to see who it is or leave and go home. Option two sounded like the best option but option one was killing me,I had to know.

"A-Amane!" I turn to see a girl with dark green hair,tan skin and blue eyes running at me. "Amane! Hi!" She runs towards me,or tries to due to the snow. "H-Hello." I stutter out"a-are y-your my secret admirer?" She nods with her head down"y-yes..."she walks over to me and gets close making me tense and blush madly. "I'm Horishiro Aoi. I've always had a crush on you Amane,ever since junior high." Her breath was hot against me,she was a little shorter than me. She'd probably grow out of it within a year though. "R-R-Really?" She nods"I-I've n-never seen y-you before." I say as she pulls away"that's a shame." She sighs and looks away"I don't really talk much,and I blend in with the background." She turns to me"you though,everyone knows you! You're so popular!"

Me? Popular? What?

She leans in as I freeze up. Is this how my first kiss will go?! Do something Amane! You promised Y/N she'd be your first kiss! You can't just let Horishiro take it fr-

That's when I felt a stinging in my cheek. "YOU IDIOT!" She screams"DID YOU REALLY THINK I'D LOVE YOU?!" She then burst out into laughter"the others are right! You are easy to manipulate! You're so gullible!" I felt tears brim my eyes"awww,is little Amane Yugi crying?" She hums"pathetic." She then shoves me into the snow"go kill yourself loser!" She then turns on her heel and walks away.

I knew it was to good to be true.

I groaned as I sat up,the snow was freezing up my body. The winter coat I had did nothing against the harsh winter snow. I rubbed my cheek and softly,I knew it was bright red. I stood up once my body allowed me to,I tried to get off as much snow as possible but it didn't seem to work. I let out a sigh and carried myself home.

Once I made it home,the warm heat hit me. "I'm home." I said as I kicked off my shoes,I walked towards my shared room with Tsukasa. I noticed he wasn't home. My brows furrowed in confusion,he didn't tell me anything about going out. I grabbed some fresh clothes and a towel and headed for the bathroom for a shower. Once I was done,I threw on my clean clothes and went to the kitchen to see a note on the fridge in crayon:
"Went to go get candy:)"

"Not surprising." I walk over to the wall phone and dialed Y/N's number. It rang for a while before a click was on heard on the other line"hello?" Y/N's voice came through"Y-Y/N!"

"Ah! Amane! Hi!"

"H-Hi! You told me to call."

"I did! I'm surprised you remembered. Anyway,how was it? The confession I mean."

"Oh it was nice. The girl was s-super nice and sh-she just confessed her love to me."

"Aw how sweet. Who was it?"

"Horishiro Aoi."

"I know her...wow,I'm surprised she liked you. She's not the nicest person. But I guess when you like someone you're personality does change a bit."

"Uh-huh..."

"...yes mom,it's Amane!...ok ok...Amane,my mom wants to know if you and your bother are free New Year's Day."

"We should be. Why?"

"My mom wants us to start going to the New Years festival. She was wondering if you two liked to go."

"Oh,we go to those sometimes. We haven't been since I was like five."

"Aw,little Amane~! You were so cute back then!...n-n-not th-that you're n-not cute now or anything!"

"No no,it's fine! You're fine! Anyway,I'll tell my parents and Tsukasa when they get home."

"Ok,I have to go now Amane! Tell your family I said happy early merry Christmas!"

"I will!" The phone the clicked and I knew she hung up,I set the phone down and slide down the wall under the phone. "I wonder if I'll see that daikon girl there."
