-Dylan's P.O.V.-

It had been a full week that Lily hasn't shown up at school, I've been showing up at her house every day and not even her parents are home. I called them up one day out of pure hope that she was with them but they just told me they were on a business trip, not even mentioning Lily.

I didn't tell them anything about their kid because I didn't want them to worry, Marian and I have done enough of that. It was a Friday and I was heading over to Marian's right now to talk to her about everything.

I walked up to her door and knocked casually and she opened the door, worry staining her face.

"Come in." She whispered and I walked in setting my backpack onto the floor. She led me upstairs into her room and I followed quietly, knowing her little brother Tyler was asleep.

Once we were inside I shut the door behind us and she collapsed on her bed.

"Where is she? I've called her so many times that I'm sure her phone is going to explode any minute." Marian groaned and closed her eyes.

"Same here. You know, I called her parents." I said and she sat up with hope shining through her eyes. "They're on a business trip and Lily isn't with them." I told her and she fell back onto the bed.

"Where could she have gone!?" Marian yelled and I shrugged, but I was starting to miss her so much it hurt. She's going to get kicked out of school if she misses a number of days. It's like she's disappearing off the face of the earth.

"We need to take this into our own hands." I said and clapped my hands together and pulled out my phone.

"What are you doing?" Marian asked and raised an eyebrow and I put the phone onto speaker.

"911 what is your emergency?" A male operator called through the phone and Marian looked at me like I was insane, but I couldn't hang up now.

"I'm here to report a missing child." I said into the phone with no hesitance, this was the only thing we could do now.

"Name?" He asked me.

"Lily May Ryers." Marian spoke for me and I smiled at her sympathetically but she just looked at me with worry.

"What happened?" The operator asked calmly.

"She was at a party one night and never came home. She's not at the house, her own house, or anyone's house that knows her well." I told the operator and I heard the him typing.

"Do you want a detective to come in?" The man asked and I looked up at Marian who just shrugged and bit her lip.

"Sure. 524 Bridgeton Street." I told him, reciting my address.

"Alright. We have Mr. Snela free tomorrow at noon, is that okay?" The man suggested.

"Yah, that's good." I told him quietly, really just wanting help now.

"Alright, he'll see you then." With that the operator hung up and I ended the line just staring at my phone.

"You actually think she's missing?" Marian whispered and I looked up at her, tears building up on her water line.

"We can't be too sure now can we?" I told her and she nodded her head and looked down at her lap with tears dripping onto her hands. "Marian, please don't." I begged and took her into a hug.

"I miss my best friend." She mumbled into my chest as she cried and I tried to hold back my own tears.

"I do too." I told her and then pulled away and let her wipe her face. "She's probably out there staying with one of her friends, you never know." I told Marian and did all I could to smile for her and she nodded her head.

"Dylan, what if she's dead?" Marian blurted out and started to cry harder and I shook my head, trying to shake away the thought as well as to tell her she's wrong.

"She's alive. She's one of the strongest girls I know. Are you kidding me? Do you remember back in elementary school when she met me?" I asked Marian and a smile spread across her face and she nodded. "Exactly." I said and Marian started to giggle a bit, probably remembering the day.

I was new to the school and I was in fourth grade. I had Mrs. Hambrook as my teacher, the class held about fifteen kids including Lily and Marian. Mrs. Hambrook had seated me right next to Lily and Marian sat to her right. I looked to Lily and held out my hand to her.

"I'm Ryan." I smiled and she shook my hand cautiously.

"I'm Lily." She said with a shy smile and then the girl with dark brown hair stuck out her hand to me too.

"I'm Marian." She smiled and I shook her hand as well.

"You're pretty." I complemented Marian and a smile spread across her face and Lily just crossed her arms and looked at me.

"What about me?" She asked with a high pitched voice.

"You should make your hair that color so you can look pretty too." I said as sweetly as possible and Lily stood up in anger and pushed me off my chair.

"You don't think I look pretty!?" She yelled down at me and I didn't even know what was going on.

"I just like her chocolate colored hair more than your dead grass colored hair." I said with complete honesty and Lily punched me in the face and I received a bloody nose. But then that's how we became friends, when we were apologizing to each other.

"You were a real jerk, even back then." Marian said with a smile and pushed me playfully and I rolled my eyes. That next day I said sorry and I started to develop feelings for her. I really don't know why I said that, maybe because I was a chocolate fanatic at that age.

Now I'd do anything to see her dirty blonde locks. She's so beautiful in every way, I wish I could have told her that before she left. I've always been such a jerk to her when she was everything that mattered to me. Like when I picked her up for the party you could tell how upset she was when I said just looked good.

She looked gorgeous, like she always does. I've liked her forever but never said anything because our friendship matter more than that. I always told myself not to flirt with her at perfect opportunities but I wish I did now because that's what she deserved.

I hopped off of Marian's bed and messed up her hair causing her to laugh.

"I'm going to go. Come by my house at noon tomorrow." I informed her and she stood up to hug me good bye before I left and walked out of the door.

I walked over to my car and set my head against the steering wheel. I need her back.
