-Dylan’s P.O.V.-
I stared out the window as I eagerly awaited the presence of Mr. Snela to show up in the driveway. Marian was with me and looking out the other window, we just stared and waited.
I looked down at my watch to see it was a couple of minutes past twelve and I sighed and banged my fist against the window.
“Where is he?!” I yelled in frustration and backed away from the window and started to pace.
“Calm down, he’ll be here soon.” Marian said with her eyes still glued to the window and I started to tap my foot impatiently, my eyes still looking away from the window. “He’s here.” Marian whispered and without hesitance I opened the door and ran down the yard to his car.
He was old with glasses, lean, with black hair that stood out among his features. He slowly got out of the car and when his full body was out of the car I stuck my hand in his face.
“I’m Dylan.” I blurted out, just wanting to get inside and talk. He stared at my hand like it was disgusting.
“Roger Snela.” He said and walked right pass me and up the yard to Marian who stood in the doorway with a huge grin. I stood there dumbfounded for a minute before jogging up to him, what a jerk. Marian stood with a fake smile as she shut the door behind me and I put a hand on her shoulder before leading Snela to the couch.
“So what happened?” He asked as Marain and I took a seat on the opposite couch. Marian looked to me and I cleared my throat.
“Lily Ryers and I have been friends for years, ever si-“ I started but Snela put up his hand to stop me.
“I don’t need a life story. Tell me the part I came here for.” He said and pushed his glasses up his nose. I brushed the hair out of my eyes in annoyance before continuing.
“I took her to a party, we went outside in the front yard and I had to go back inside for a minute. When I came back out she wasn’t there.” I said taking in another inhale and to begin again but Mr. Snela stopped me, again.
“So she stood you up?” He asked and anger flickered in my eyes but I pushed it back.
“No.” I told him flatly before getting back on topic. “I went to her house and she wasn’t there and neither were her parents. I checked everywhere that she could possibly be and she’s not there. She hasn’t been to school in over a week and we think something happened to her.” I explained as Mr. Snela scribbled into his notebook.
“What about her parents?” He asked through a cough.
“They’re on a trip.” I informed him and he nodded his head and wrote it down.
“What do you want me to do about it?” He asked and set the notebook next to him, Marian and I exchanged glances.
“Um…look for her?” I suggested like it was obvious and he stood up and pushed his glasses higher.
“It’s not that easy. She’s probably at a friend’s house.” Mr. Snela said and I clenched my fists and opened my mouth to speak.
“We’re her only friends.” Marian said before I could explode on the guy, she rested a hand on my shoulder and I relaxed.
“I’ll try all I can. If anyone reports her then we’ll let you know right away.” He said and stood up and extending a hand to me, but I turned around because he was just trying to kiss up to me, so he let Marian shake it. “Great to meet you.” He said and then walked out the door.
