Awkward ex

Meredith pov: I got up at 4:30 to get  ready for work. We had to be at the hospital by 5:30 for rounds.
I looked at the clock and saw that is was 4:45. I quickly got out of the bathroom and threw a pillow at alex.
"Wake up, we have to go if we want to get the good ones first".
"Ughhh mer''. He groaned.
"Come on, I'll be downstairs"
I walked downstairs to see april, lexi, and mark sitting at the table eating breakfast.
"Good morning". I said.
They all looked at me worried.
"What"? I asked.
"Um mer, are you ok"? Spoke lexi.
"Of course, why wouldn't I be"?
"Well because we heard yelling last night and we wanted to know why"!
April blurted out.
"April"! Cried lexi and mark.
"Sorry" she said.
I sighed. "It's fine".
Everythings just fine

*At the hospital*
"Alright, Little grey you're with karev in the pit, Yang, you're with hunt, avery you're with sloan, and grey you're with Shepard", said bailey.
I groaned. Ugh anybody but him.
"Is there a problem"? She asked
"No" I replied.
"Are you sure, because as of right now I don't care about whats going on in your personal lives, all I care about is you saving patients right now".
"Everythings fine Dr.bailey".

*Meanwhile with derek*

"Selena martinez, age 16, complaining of chest pains, panic attacks and abdominal pain".
The mom was running in circles around the room when we arrived.
"Mrs martinez, I'm Dr Shepard, and this is Dr grey, we'll be your daughters doctors".
"Oh thank god, I got one of the good ones" she said. "I was afraid she might be pregnant".
"Mommm stop" said selena embarrassed.
"Will she need surgery?"
"No, but she will need a CT just to make sure nothing else is wrong, but for now there is nothing to worry about, we'll take good care of your daughter".
"No" Said derek.
"I'm sorry?"
"No, she won't need a CT"
"Dr Shepard she needs a CT" I said.
"Dr grey may I speak with you outside"
We walked outside of the room.
"Derek what the hell, she needs a CT"
"No she doesn't"
"But,"
"Dr grey if you want in on this surgery, you will go by my wishes, or you won't go anywhere near the OR understand"?
"Yes".

Later

I went to the cafeteria and found cristina.
"Hey mer I heard what happened" she said as she hugged me.
"Mcdreamy is about to be mcdead"
I laughed as she hugged me again.
"So how are you and owen?"
"Good, he um, he asked me to marry him"
"Oh my gosh, what did you say"?
"I said yes, just like you and evil spawn, he's my person"
I smiled at her. " I'm so happy for you"
"Thanks, and speaking of evil spawn, he's looking at you".
I turned around to see alex staring at me, smiling sadly.
Cristina and I walked out of the cafeteria together, but I couldn't stop thinking about what she said and what happened.
Why was alex staring at me?
Does he like me? No, of course not.
Best friends aren't supposed to be more than that.
