Alex pov:
I woke up this morning in a great mood.
Today's the day I thought. I'm gonna do it.
I'm gonna propose to meredith. Today's got to be the day, I just know it. I looked over to see meredith still asleep with zola in her arms. She had climbed out of her crib and
slept with us last night. She woke up and sat up. "Morning" she said as she kissed me.  "Any plans today?" I asked. "I'm gonna go to the mall with cristina".  I stared at her shocked. "Since when does meredith grey go to the mall?" I said laughing. She threw a pillow at me.  "Oh that reminds me, we have a reservation tonight".  She smiled and said "oh we do, do we, and what is exactly that reservation". I chuckled at her.
"Guess you'll have to wait to find out".
I kissed her and walked to the living room.
"You should hang out with owen today, it'll keep his mind off of cristina". I sighed.
"Fine but only for you".

-Time skip to the mall-
"I don't know what he's doing, he said it was a surprise".  I was walking with cristina and telling her what I thought the big secret was.  She gasped.  "Do you think he's gonna propose?". I shook my head.
"I doubt it, alex has always been the no time to prepare type of guy".
"Well you never know". I sighed.
Was he going to propose I thought.

-Time skip to dinner-
Alex pov
I sighed and looked in the mirror.
I don't usually wear a suit but tonight was the time to wear it. I couldn't believe I was doing this. I was gonna propose to the woman I love.
I looked at the diamond ring I picked out.
It was beautiful. I hoped she likes it.
I put it in the box and put it in  my pocket.
I walked downstairs and saw meredith in a black long strapless dress. Her hair was in a bun and she had on black heels. She looked beautiful. I walked up to her and held her hand. "You look beautiful Dr grey".
"Not too bad yourself Dr karev". We walked out to the car.

*Time skip to after dinner*
Meredith pov:
I looked at alex and smiled. This was the most romantic thing he had ever done.
Maybe I would get my happily ever after.
Alex stood up and took my hand.
"Meredith grey, the story of our love is only beginning
there are many ways to be happy in this life, but all I really need is you, I can't imagine growing old with anyone else, nor do I want to.
I know you're the only one I want to share the rest of my life with".
I looked down and gasped. He was on one knee and held a box with a diamond ring.
"Meredith, will you make me the happiest man and marry me?". I  laughed through tears. "Yes". I put the ring on and kissed him. "I love you so much".  "Our story is only beginning Mrs karev".
