We walked to the closest "restaurant" in the food court since Eli hadn't said one word yet. His mouth was too busy gaping at my dress, my hair, my face... If I was that horrific or repulsive, he should just say it. I ordered a taco and a side of nachos and waited for my order. Eli stared at me while the cashier was trying to get his attention since, after all, he was standing in line. Finally, he snapped out of it and stuttered his order of two burritos, a taco grande, and a side of cheesy fries. I don't understand how guys could eat so much and stay so slim! Eli shakily walked to where I was standing and shoved his jittery hands in his pockets. I couldn't take it any longer.
"What is your problem?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips. Ew. Yuck. I felt so... so feminine.
"Huh?" He blinked.
"I knew I should have talked Adri out of dressing me!" Seriously, how come people didn't seem to get that you don't dress up for fast food?! These tacos were probably made out of the cheapest meat to ever have died on this earth.
Eli just stared at me for a moment before he howled with laughter. "You are the furthest thing away from ugly, revolting... I'm actually glad you dressed up. That means you're treating this as a real date, which also means... you have the hots for me."
I glared at him. How dare he be cocky! Urg... "Well, you're cute and funny, but you're also obnoxious, cocky, clueless, and annoyingly persistent!"
"Cute and funny, huh?" Eli rose an eyebrow. The lady handed us our meals and we walked to the nearest table. As soon as this was over with, I was leaving.
"You missed the other things I called you," I grumbled and took a bite out of my taco. Maybe with all this food, he'd be more quiet and I could pretend he wasn't even across from me.
"But you called me cute and funny. That counts for something," Eli smiled and took a bite, chewed, and swallowed. It annoyed me how he did that so fast. He should keep food in his mouth for at least five minutes so he's silent... "You still didn't deny that you had the hots for me."
I took a large bite so I couldn't talk. I chewed slowly. I probably looked very unnatractive at the moment. A very unnattractive, slow-chewing cow to be specific. Eli just waited patiently for me to finish. I swallowed reluctantly, "So how's your basketball team holding up?"
Eli smiled wide at me for dodging the accusation, "We're doing great. Our next game is tomorrow night. You should come."
"I can't," I said, happy that I wasn't even lying. "I'm taking Isabella to the mall and we're giving her a make over. She's going to be GORGEOUS."
Eli nodded, "It doesn't start until nine. You should try and come. Isabella can make her first appearance at a basketball game. The stands will be filled with a lot of boys who will definitely notice her."
"You think she's pretty, too?" I asked. I was excited that someone as popular as him could see through her ugly clothes and braces. At the same time, I was also a little jealous.
"Yeah, she's really pretty. She just needs to show off a little more to get some awesome guy's attention."
"She's got yours?" I asked.
"Not in that way. You've got my undivided attention," Eli said sweetly.
Ugh. Why did he have to do this? Why did he have to be so... so... cute and sweet, yet all cocky at the same time? "You need to cut that out."
