¤MELANIE¤
It's been two full weeks. He hasn't talked to me- not once. I've seen him, talking, walking, functioning like a normal human being. Not like me. I've been laying in my bed, in my dorm. I've somehow convinced the professors that I have "a terrible cold" and they let me stay in my dorm. Bella and Cissa have tried, believe me. But they stopped trying by the eighth day. I'm not living anymore, just existing. Floating around my dorm room like a ghost, replaying every single fucking word he's ever said to me. I'm alone. Just me, his words, and my monsters. Ah, my monsters. My old friends. They've always been with me, even before I met Apollo. Before my parents split. They've been with me, telling me things, whispering things in my ears. Following me around everywhere I go. The monsters always knew I would lose him in the end. They would always say:
"He dosen't love you."
"He's lying."
"Another mistake."
They would always say the worst things, at the best times. I pick at my dry skin on my nails, not looking up when I hear the door open.
".....Mel?" Cissa's soft voice finally said. I slowly looked up at her, noticing how much more pale she looked. She had a letter in her hand. Sealed shut, some initials on it.
"I found this in my bag, it has your initials on it." My initials. In her bag. For a second, my heart flutters. Maybe- just maybe the letter is from him. Maybe he wants to meet me somewhere maybe-
"Mel?" I look up at her, seconds away from tearing the letter open. She looks me up and down, pursing her lips and shaking her head.
"Nevermind." She mutters, leaving the room. I rip the letter open, the white paper flying all over the ground.
Astronomy tower, midnight.
Is all the letter said. I furrow my brows as I read the sentence over and over. Something's missing. And not just the signature. Something is missing, something feels to familiar. What day is it? What month? I sigh, the hope slowly leaving me, but not quite. Maybe it is from him. It is, I know it is. I'll go, I'll go to the astronomy tower, midnight.
