¤MELANIE¤

There's an old piano that sits in the slytherin common room, untouched. No one ever plays it, either because they don't know how or they don't have time. No one ever comes near it, because some 7th year said that it was haunted and if someone touched the keys, you're eyes will go black. So you can imagine my surprise when I see a tall figure sitting on the stool, playing an amazing classical song. His rough fingers glide over the keys, hitting them softly. The beautiful music is what woke me up at such a late hour, and the green fire has very low light, making the room dark. The only thing that I can make out is the boy's figure, and his familiar curly hair. It's been one full week since school started, and Regulus' hasn't returned until now. I was worried about him, especially when Lucius came back 3 days earlier and wouldn't even talk about him to me. It's like he never existed, poof! Gone from the face of the earth.

"R-regulus?" I ask warily, and he jumps in his seat. Once he realizes it's me, he turns back around, not even sparing me another glance. I lowly scoff and cross my arms over my chest. I stand their stupidly, waiting for him to turn back around. But he just keeps on playing the piano. I finally give in and stomp over to him, standing over his right shoulder.

"You know, an explanation would be nice." I huff angirly, pulling at my hair.

"Explanation?" I roll my eyes and turn to face him fully.

"Yes! Why you just ran off and you came back to school late." He looks me up and down, scoffs, and turns back to the piano. My mouth gaped open, staring at him in disbelief.

"I'm serious! I was worried about you, and when you didn't come back it got worse! Lucius wouldn't even talk to me about you and-"

"Good."

"W-what?" I stop, looking over him confusedly.

"I told him not to do that." He explains, continuing on with his song.

"Why?" I ask agian. He really isn't good at explaining things.

"Listen." He suddenly says, stepping up from the stool. He turns to me, looking me up and down and stopping at my eyes. His grey eyes, they look dull. They look lifeless, and they have dark circles under them. His small freckles are easier to see now, his skin is so pale. How long has it been since I've seen him outside?

"Forget about me. Understand? I don't exist, we were never together. We never even met." He says, his words coming in a jumble together. I look at him for a few moments, breaking apart every word that he said and repeating it in my head agian.

"Reg, what's happening? What's wrong?" I ask worriedly, stretching my arms out towards him. He steps back, looks at me one more time, before disappearing up the stairs into the boy's dormitories. He disappears, leaving me in the lonely, dark common room. Leaving me with the sad looking piano, the white keys shimmering in the low light from the fire.
