Chapter 12

Prem is frustrated and pushes the pillows and cushions on his bed on the floor! 

What am I ever gonna do?? Why am Such a bhi phattu!!! What a coward I am? He breathes in and breathes out!!! Trying to relax! 

He remembers how once he was suspended from college for a prank he had played on the teacher. He had requested Kalpi not to tell it at home and the darling she was she never spoke about it to anyone! And also helped him with notes so that he does not miss out much!

Will she do it again? Will she support me? What if she feels cheated? How do I explain it to her what hell I have been going through!!!

When Kamla had informed him about him and Kalpi getting married, he had smiled as if he had always known! He was so comfortable with her around, she was his best friend and dependant on him for almost everything! And she was very sweet! Though he had never tried to flirt with her like he did with the other girls in the college who used run after him giggling and trying to grab his attention. He used to hate those girls and use to stick with Kalpi just to avoid them. Thankfully she was not like them giggling for everything and anything! Phew!

But Rohan had asked him when he had told him, Do you really love her? I mean I know you both are like live in couples but you know what I am hinting at? Does she like you? 

Prem had decided he would talk to her. So he had entered her bedroom that night and saw that Kalpi was surprised to see him there. 

What is it Prem? He smiled and kept fidgeting with his fingers...Kalpi I wanted to know if you are saying yes to this marriage just because Aai wants us to or do you really like me? Phew! There it was such an easy question!

Kalpi widened her eyes trying to suppress her smile! What is so funny he had thought! Well the way he asked it made Kalpi smile and she knew he was a bundle of nerves when he was standing there. She nodded her head and said both!

Both!!! Both means ok right it means you like me right? Which means you are happy with this right? ok!? Fine then! Thanks Good night! He hugged her and went off the room!

He remembered now that he had just wanted to know what she wanted and never cared to bother what was that he really wanted. Aai asked me to marry Kalpi and I said yes without ever realising why is it that not once in these many years I never felt anything special for her. Maybe I am used to her! 

C'mon Prem dont tell me you haven't yet kissed her! Chal chal! Phek mat!! (Dont lie to us)

Chaalu saare mazey liye hongey (You must have taken full advantage) after all you had the liberty to enter her room whenever you wanted to? Kyun? am I right or wrong?

By now you must be bored of her and so you are not excited to get married to her! Warna I see to be married couples always grabbing chance to hold each other and snog each other and here you two behave as if you are already been married since 10-15 years!!!

Prem got a bit upset! What happens in my house or our bedrooms is not your business Rohan and you dont talk about Kalpi in any demeaning way! She is my best friend! 

Rohan: And your to be wife!!! 

The guys in Prem's group were all excited. Chal lets have a college reunion and celebrate Prem's bachelor party!!

Arrey Prem call up Amar Mhatre! He is a big shot's son he will arrange for his farm house in Karjat and we can have a ball there! Daaru shaaru gals everything!! Prem gulped...guys I really dont think we need to go overboard with this! We can have a small bachelor party at some pub thats it!

Ok you forget! Leave it to us he had said. But Prem kept thinking what Rohan had said and that night he had tiptoed to Kalpi's room with his heart banging so loud that he thought he would wake up baba and Aai. He tried to knowck but found the door open!

Kalpi trusts me so much to leave the door open and sleep! He entered to find her sitting at her study table writing something! 

Hey wassup? He said trying to sound casual. He saw her in a light blue shirt and light blue pajamas. She did look cute. Kalpi smiled at him and came up walking to him and for the first time in these many years he actually noticed her womanhood! I mean damn Rohan was right she is very pretty! How come I never noticed her? He gulped feeling nervous. 

What is it Prem? Do you want something? Yes! Said Prem I want water!

Kalpi  giggled blushing a bit! She said fetching a glass of water from the jug on her table, you could have gone to the kitchen for that but y are you in my room at 1am in the night? 

I was feeling restless. Could not sleep. Kalpi! Hmmm she replied. 

He went closer to her.."C'mon if you are a man then you must have surely kissed her", Rohan's words were playing in his mind... He stared at her pink lips and nervously licked his own, breathing deep he grabbed Kalpi by her waist surprising her! I - I want to kiss you!

Kalpi blushed and looked away.He could feel her body stiffen but her heart was banging too!

And she kept breathing heavily. He looked her into her eyes and then her lips and then back into her eyes as though he asked her permission.

She held his arms which ran upto his shoulders and then they locked behind his neck. She tilted her head and closed her eyes. Prem cautiously bent over moving closer to her face claiming her lips. They had shared their first kiss. He pulled back to see Kalpi still with her eyes closed! Good night Kalpi he said and went back to bed. 

Ok! So we kissed! Thats it? Why is this kiss so hyped!? I did not feel anything! Did Kalpi feel something.? Okay so now what? I kissed her! maybe I will get used to the feeling!

Back to present:

Prem had tears of regret in his eyes! If only I had realised that night that we were not meant to be together Kalpi! If only I were man enough to understand that you were not what I wanted but I did not know what I had wanted.

No one will understand me Kalpi no one will not even you! He gets a call and he speaks to a lawyer! Yes I need the POA to be done in Kalpana's name as she will be the one to handle the firm. How long would this take as I do not have much time. You will have to take my signatures wherever relevant as then I wont be back so soon!

Wish I could never come back! I just want to see you independent Kalpi! I should have done this much before. Just because of Aai I couldn't!

Why do you want to teach Kalpi driving? It is not good that girls drive around. This could spoil her behaviour!  Kamla nowadays all learn it! And imagine if any of us in a problem then she can drive us to the hospital when Prem is not around! And then you both can go for your Saree sale too! Vitthal tried convincing Kamla and finally succeeded.  Kalpi was very nervous to learn driving but Prem saw to it that whenever they both went out she was the one who would drive. This was during their last year in college! He had taught her all the tricks and all the roads and she learnt it all soon!
