You didn't realize you were staring until the guy named Kirishima, tapped your thigh. "And your name is...?" You were shot back into reality. "Oh-oh yeah right, my name. Um, my name is Akari Kimura (Y/N L/N) but you don't have to call me by my last name, Akari (Y/N) is fine." You stuttered. Kirishima then sat all the way up. "Nice to meet you, Akari. Pretty name, it means light, yeah?"
You nodded your head. "I can't thank you enough, I would've died if it weren't for you." You had an urge to throw your hands around him, but thought better of it.
Kirishima smiled again and shook his head. "Don't sweat it, but you wouldn't have died, UA plans for these types of things. The ground would've sensed your descent and an electromagnetic field would have formed around it before you made impact with the pavement. You would hover in the air and then slowly be let down to the ground." You stared at him once again. Damn, he was smart, too?
"Of course, you would've failed the exam if that happened, and I saw you up there. You were awesome! So manly. You brought down the whole damn robot... but when I saw you fall I knew I couldn't let you fail... Not with a cool quirk like that."
You then smiled at him. "Y-you think my quirk is cool?" He nodded. "How does it work?" You then went on to explain that you could control and manipulate light, so you could do things like change the color of objects by reflecting different rays of light to your eyes, make yourself and other things invisible, and create concentrated beams of light that can burn through materials.
Kirishima was hanging on to your every word, obviously fascinated. When you were done explaining, he then looked at you and cocked his head to the side. "So... do you usually sit on people, or do you particularly like it up there?" You froze and felt your cheeks blush. "Ohmygosh, sorry...!" You quickly got up and dusted yourself off. You then felt a stabbing pain in your side.
Your rib was definitely cracked, at the least. You looked back at Kirishima who was now getting up. Even though he was about five foot seven, he towered over you. You cursed your genes for making you so short. Even in your platform sneakers, you only stood at five foot three. You could not stand up fully, though, and so you were slightly hunched over, grabbing your sides. Kirishima was turned away and started talking.
"Maybe we should stick together and pass the exam. So, we could help each other, y'know?" That's when the loudspeakers blared. A high pitched voice urged you to cover your ears. "LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING!!" You sighed as you probably guessed it was Pro Hero Present Mic. "Yeah, Kirishima. We should stick together. Let's go kick some ass."
You started walking ahead of him, still holding your side. That's when you felt a hand grab your arm. You turned around. "You're hurt." It wasn't a question but rather a statement. You could see the concern in his eyes, but you just grinned. "Don't mind me, I'll be okay. C'mon." But his hand did not budge. "Not with that injury, you're not." The next thing you know he was picking up and you were on his back. He wrapped his arms around your legs to stabilize you and your arms were around his neck. "Kiri-"
"You can still use your quirk, right?" You sighed a 'yes' and he turned his head back around. "Good." He took off running, dodging debris and falling robot parts. You thought of your ribcage and how it hurt because of how hard he grabbed you..."Hey, what's your quirk, Kirishima?"
"Watch this." You could feel your mouth drop open as you saw his arm skin harden and slash the leg of a robot. It was like his arm was covered in little platelets of armor that covered his skin, except it was his skin.
"That's so cool!"
"I try," he teased.
You shook your head smirking and then looked up. The robot that Kirishima sliced through was falling on top of you guys. "Look out!-"
Without thinking, your hands shot up into the air and bright light sliced the robot as you guys were running under it. The two halves of the robot fell on your left and right.
"Holy shit, Akari!" Kirishima gasped.
The time runs out and people stop fighting. You and Kirishima slowed down to a stop and he let you down, but still held you close.
"We have to get you fixed up." Kirishima looked around and spotted an older woman kissing a green-haired boy on the ground; he looked beat tf up. Kirishima guided you towards the crowd and the woman. The crowd started dispersing as the woman- Recovery Girl, healed the boy.
"Recovery Girl! Please, can you help her?" Kirishima said, dragging you towards her. Recovery Girl smiled and walked towards you. You pointed at your ribs and she ordered you to lift up your shirt a little. Kirishima looked away, seemingly embarrassed as you lifted up your shirt. Recovery Girl kissed your ribs and you instantly felt better.
"Thank you." You said as you put your shirt back down. You and Kirishima walked towards the entrance and you turned to him. You hugged him. Kirishima, obviously stunned, took a few seconds to hug you back.
"Thank you so so so much... I owe you. I hope you pass."
"Don't thank me, please. It was just the manly thing to do, and I hope you pass, too."
You broke out of your embrace and looked up at him. His eyes were mischievous yet innocent and you couldn't help but feel the heat rise from your neck as you realize he was looking you up and down. "So... Goodbye. We may see each other... if we both pass."
"Yeah, I'll look forward to it." He said, with a hand scratching behind his neck.
You started to walk away and turned around to wave goodbye. How could someone be so kind? And who was this red-haired boy?
