"Over here! C'mon Aki" Your brother called. "I'm coming, Akito, you're too fast!" You laughed. You were heading to the playground, excited to make friends.
All Akito wanted to do was play in the sandbox and draw. He had brought his art supplies and crayons. What a weird kid. You had thought.
You had gotten into the playground. It was one of those big ones that had a little bit of everything.
To multiple slides, an elaborate monkey bar area, and a tall treehouse. You headed straight for the treehouse, seeing other eight-year-olds.
Your brother just went straight to a table and started drawing, presumably the playground. He was like a prodigy.
You had climbed up the ladder and into the house. You were surprised to see vaguely familiar faces.
They were some well-liked kids from school, the kids you strived to be friends with. You heard one of them, a boy, whisper to one of the girls in the back. "It's that gaijin."
You ignored him and smiled sweetly, "Hi, my name is Kim-"
"Hey. Aren't you the one with the r*tarded brother?"
"What? He's not-"
"Oh yeah. That quirkless one. I think I see him over there." One of the girls said, pointing.
"Ew, can you please go? We don't want you making us quirkless, too." The girl that called your brother a slur said. You couldn't even see her, she was just clothes and shoes.
"I'm not quirkless! Look, see!" You wanted to demonstrate desperately, but you had almost no control of your quirk yet.
You intended to make a ball of light in your hands but instead blasted a hole in the floor of the treehouse. Burnt wood and smoke filled your senses and you coughed.
The kids started screaming and were trying to get as far away from you as possible. "Oh my god! She's so violent! Get away from her!"
You didn't notice the tears streaming down your eyes until you were almost at the bottom of the ladder.
Instead, you jumped from the ladder and ran under the playground. You leaned your back against a pole and started crying into your hands.
"Aki! Look! I drew a picture of us as heroes!"
Your little brother tugged your shirt and gave you the drawing. It was of you and him in hero costumes, fighting a villain.
You held onto the drawing and started shaking with anger. It replaced your sorrow. You crumpled the drawing and threw it at him. "Aki? Why are you crying-"
"Because you are so stupid! This is all your fault! I'll never make friends because of you, and you'll never be a hero because you're a quirkless loser! Now go away."
You saw Akito hang his head and pout. You turned away from him and sank down into a sit. You pulled your legs up to your chest and buried your head in them.
__
It was almost thirty minutes after you had yelled at Akito. You felt bad and got up to look for him. You wanted to apologize.
"Akito!" You called. "Akito! I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean anything I said." You looked around the playground and there was no sign of him. Oh no, you thought. He must have left.
You saw his art supplies on the table he was sitting on and grabbed them. You were now in a panic, frantically looking for him. You left the playground and turned the corner into the city. Come on, come on, where could he be?
